Well done Bubba. Backed for the Masters, too big in my view. Especially in relation to some others price. |

The majority of the 144-player field is confirmed.......
The 2019 GENESIS OPEN field is highlighted by: tournament host, 80-time PGA TOUR winner and 14-time major champion Tiger Woods; Defending Champ and three-time Tournament winner (in 2014 & 2016) BUBBA Watson; World #3 and 2017 Genesis Champ Dustin Johnson; World #4 Justin Thomas; World #5 Bryson DeChambeau; World #6 Jonny Rahmbo; World #7 and current PGA TOUR FedEx Cup points leader Xander Schauffele; World #9 Wee Rory McIlroy; three-time Major champ Jordan Spieth; and 43-time PGA TOUR winner, five-time Major champ and 2008 and 2009 tournament champion, and this weeks AT&T winner 48yo Phil 'The Trill' Mickelson. Nicknamed 'Hogan's Alley' and described as a 'tinkers' course ! - Will host the US OPEN in 2023 (& the Olympics Golf in 2028 - Small greens with tight fairways so greens in regulation please gentlemen and welcome to LA. SET YOUR TIMERS for the TIGER WATCH 2019 Tiger on Riviera: "I love the golf course, I love layout, it fits my eye...and I play awful" USELESS STAT: Tiger - 11 starts here and never won - 8 starts at the Northern Trust and never won - 4 starts at both Honda & Waste Management and never won - 4 of just 15 PGA TOUR events that Tiger has never won. Will be interesting to watch the private jets depart Monterey today for KLAX https://uk.flightaware.com/live/airport/KMRY/departures Max Homa tweeted that he and Michael Thompson earned spots into next week's Genesis Open in unlikely fashion - after Scott Piercy three putted from less than 15 feet for birdie at Pebble Beach's par-5 18th. With Piercy sitting T-7 at 11 under, Homa and Thompson, both at 10 under after rounds of 5-under 67 and 66, respectively, were looking at a T-11 finish - But with darkness setting in, Piercy needed three putts to get his ball in the hole. That meant that Homa, Thompson and Chris Stroud all jumped into the T10. For Homa and Thompson, who are playing out of Category 26 this season after graduating from the Web.com Tour last season, it also meant spots in the field at Riviera Country Club. Homa had missed six straight PGA Tour cuts this season before a T26 last week at the Phoenix Open. Thompson now has three consecutive finishes of T-13 or better on Tour. He was the first alternate for the Genesis before earning his spot via his T10 finish. |

X Schauffele @27 H Matsuyama @40 J Kokrak @140 A Wise @250 GL gentlemen............ |

By:
hideki for me as well! although this one looks impossible to be honest.
also tiger and rahmbo. although tiger not a great record around this course. |
|
By:
this is one of my top 3 favourite venues, Tiger has to be backed at 25/1 regardless, but other bets at the moment are
Charles Howell 1point eachway Bill Haas 1 point each way Martin Laird 1point eachway will probably add 1 more before start. Would have backed Phil if he hadnt have won just now but wouldnt be surprised if he goes well again |

Has to be that "pathetic bottler" Scott Stallings 125/1 ew this week (W.Hill, and 140 & 110 on here)
![]() |
|
By:
btw, he was 4th here last year (after his 3rd in Pebble) - and jumped 80 spots to #150 in OWG Rankings

Robert Garrigus shoots 6 under at today's qualifier into the Genesis Open at Indian Hills GC's Eisenhower Course for his sixth appearance at Riviera CC (2-for-5 with a T23 in 2014).
It was a loaded field and many notables came up short today. Other to punch their ticket were Aaron Baddeley (-5) & Curtis Luck (-5). Richard Lee (-4) survived a 6-for-1 playoff to earn his spot against David Kim, Roberto Diaz, Wes Roach, Andrew Loupe, and Sean Birren. Pity that OWGR #42 Matthew Fitzpatrick finished one shot shy of the playoff with a 3-under 69. |

By:
Any advantage NOT playing last week in Pebble ??????????? - Cold, Wet, stop-start, and SLOW - then maybe course form/current form horses like Bubba, Schauffele, Thomas, Cameron Smith or Patrick Cantlay might be on your radar.

Trey Mullinax (instead of playing his sixth week in a row) along with Stricker & Kenny Perry have all WD's

Justin Thomas is one i forgot to add, he is going to win soon, just got to keep the faith.

A perfect day at Riviera Country Club - if you’re a duck!
Play Suspended in the first round indefinitely! with scores to reset after play resumes. Let's start again (most likely 54 holes ?) ![]() It's a rare occurrence, the last time a round was reset on the PGA TOUR was at the 2013 Dell Technologies Championship (third round). Rain issues are not uncommon at the Genesis Open although officials are hopeful they won’t have a repeat of 2005 when Adam Scott beat Chad Campbell in a Monday playoff after the event was shortened to 36 holes. |

Tour confirms updated plan: guys currently on course will play until dark, finish in AM and then won't play second round until Saturday AM. Other wave will double dip tomorrow into Saturday. Goal is to make the cut by lunchtime Saturday and still finish Sunday night. (See current Sat morning forecast is v good and will suit early/late wave of players more).

I had quite a scary realisation when I got up this morning which I'm sure has happened to others.
One of the players I'd BACKED had been voided due to all the drama with the bad weather conditions etc. BUT, I'd LAYED him sometime later and that still stood. I couldn't of LAYED without BACKING first cos I didn't have anywhere near enough money in my account to do so. Fortunately my player (I won't say who it is to avoid discussion about his chances of winning!) has done crap, but he could've been at the top of the leaderboard! |
|
By:
Yeah the vagaries of trading when suspensions happen. Don't get me started on VAR in the football...
|
|
By:
When does play recommence on SkY ?
|
|
By:
Interesting that one Sheppy .I remember years ago a thread where someone had layed everyone in a top run scorer market for a lot of money but when all the non runners were taken out he had a red book for thousands .I think BF had to pay up but don't know for sure.
|

By:
Play starts at 3-0 on Sky.

Thanks frames. The more I think about it, the more it makes me wanna tread with caution. I feel I had a lucky escape this time.
When I logged in this morning my balance was something like -£1600. I didn't even know it was possible to have a minus figure. |

last week i said i was gonna keep backing Spieth each week as hes close to it, for some reason i cant explain i never backed him this week. i am very annoyed at myself, i was a week earlyon DJ winning and looks like maybe the same with Spieth, i know its still very early but with this event and the weather a fast start and his side of the draw looks like the stars have aligned

Friday's action has ended. Play will resume at 7am on Saturday with the conclusion of round 2.

When will live coverage start on Sky please ?
|
|
By:
Sky timetable states 6pm. But surely that's not correct.
With delays ( and a 7am start in LA ), that suggests screening should start c3pm UK time ? |
