Fowler, one of the first players I rule out when creating a shortlist. Facts, PERHAPS you should do as Corleone said (in The Godfather) ".....hold your friends close but your enemies closer" - just for this week. RICKY 'Tricky' FOWLER 8/1fav shook off the rust in Vegas with a very promising start (his first event of the new season). The OWGR #9 was 2-over thru 6 holes in Rd1, but then posted six birdies and a pair of eagles in a true ball-striking clinic - only for a cold putter (missed four putts from inside 12 feet on his opening five holes) it could have been a really low round. After opening with 68-67-69, a bogey-free, 8-under-par 33-30=63 in the final round of the Shriners Hospitals to finish T4 @ 17 under (only 4 swings back from DeChambeau) - his third straight T10 (FedEx Cup Playoffs - T7, TOUR Championship; T8, BMW). Abraham Ancer - "Yeah, I think it just fits my game really well. I don’t hit it very far, but I feel comfortable out here. You don’t have to bomb it out here, you’ve just got to place it, and once you’re in the fairway, you’ve got a good chance of making birdie." - and he's coming in a lot hotter than last year off a T9 in the Shriners ! SAM BURNS 80/1 anyone ? Almost the last chance for some players to earn their ticket to the Tournament of Champions in Maui as 2018 closes in. CM iyc  |

Not many pairs of courses where form is as closely linked as this and Waialae, even taking aside Kizzire being the defending champ at both. Plenty of other examples. On that basis, Woodland, Si Woo and Piercy the standouts for me. Form at both venues and all playing well at the minute. A few bucks on Bill Haas who has shown glimpses of late and made Kisner my biggest winner.

OWGR #31 GARY WOODLAND's last seven events - T10 (with 69-67-71-63 at the Shriners),2nd CJ Cup,T5 CIMB,11,12,24 & 48th. Gary was 2nd here in 2016, with Scott Piercy back in 4th.
A Delray Beach, Florida, resident, 34yo Gary (18/1) is the TOUR leader in consecutive cuts made with 14. Only Fowler 8's, Tony Finau 12/1 & Jordan Spieth 16/1 are ahead of him in the betting. Howell and Grillo are other course horses in reasonable form, along with Stroud & Stuard but on the cold list. |

quick question about golfers, I notice the biggest price betfair goes up to is 1000, but presumably plenty of players would start bigger than that, and why don't betfair go up any higher? because of simplicity reasons, or they don't want people to get too exposed, or some other reason?

was thinking the other day that it's probably worth backing him each-way for the masters next year. he's only been outside the top five once in the last five years. been playing horrible of later but was playing fairly rank going into the 2018 event and still nearly win won it. seems like an each-way bet to nothing to me.  |

WE LIKE some of the bunch of seven @-11 (and only 3 back from KUCHAR) - 2008 Winner Brian GAY 25/1 - Meen-Whee Kim 33/1 - defending Champ Patton KISSIRE 20's - and maybe - Anirban Lahiri, 14th & 28th last two years, 30/1) or GRILLO (-9) 18/1 - although 20/1 long-shot Abraham might be ANCER (he's five back).
We note: 28yo Danny LEE was 3rd in 2014, while Blixt MC in 2015 & 2016 and last week too + Hickok's on debut. Only the second time in Kuchar's career that he has opened an event with two laps of 64 or better. MCs: from Jordan, GMac, Ryan Moore, Zach Johnson & Charley Hoffman. STAT: The last five winners were Top 11th or better after 36 holes, and that trend has maintained in the entire time the PGA Tour has been visiting this course. In fact, the ultimate winner is not only 11-for-11 at being T11 or better at halfway, but has gone 8-for-11 at being in the T5 (and ties). 2016 winner Pat Perez was five back - the biggest comeback by shots - (he's currently T15th @ -9, so is it too big an ask to do it again???) - WINNER needs to be -9 or better. LAY KUCHAR..... as the 9 leaders (or co-leads) in the last five years - three have converted (Kizzire, GMac & English) but going back to 2007 the total number of co/leaders is 20 with ONLY five ultimately lifting the trophy (25% chance).

Also note this will be KUCHAR's 12th career 36-hole lead (his first since the 2016 Memorial Tournament) and he's gone on to win just ONE of those events (2012 PLAYERS), while he posted a podium finish in 7-of-the-11. Gonna be a TIGHT for the next two days.

Fun fact - Kuchar's last win (2014 Heritage) was on the same day as Westwood's last win.
