Well done winners, he was 150 on here 100/1 @ books

Well done Jimmy. Great display. Kept thinking he was going to miss one those three footers for par, but was rock solid with them all day.
Respect to Day... really pushed him despite not appearing to be near his best. He's a real class act these days. Overall, I thought it was a really enjoyable tournament, and they did very well considering the weather they had to deal with. Great leaderboard on Sunday. |
|
By:
If Jimmy had've made a bogey before that holed bunker shot I think he would've blown it. Wasn't going anywhere near pins and was laying way back off the tee. He wasn't playing to win but playing not to lose which rarely ends well. Looked very different after the hole out. Fair play to him, winning a major wire to wire is no mean feat.

I bet jimmy was glad that one eventually dropped in on 17, or I think he may have lost out to day, either that or his chip at 18 might have been more aggressive and still won. But well done to him, and credit to day he's a great sport and going to win a few more majors.

Holing the bunker shot did it for him as he was beginning to wobble about then, but fair dues well done you jammy Git ( Day backer signing in )

Was an exciting tournament, albeit the wrong result for me....so close yet so far..........That eagle by Day at the last was incredible. The luck was with Walker though and he held his nerve down the strech :(

THE 2017 PGA Championship - the final Major of the year...August 10th–13th at the QUAIL HOLLOW CLUB in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Welcome to the GREEN MILE... A VERY LONG (7,575yds) standard par72 design by George Cobb in 1961 with upgrades from Arnie and Fazio. Prior to the 2014 tournament all 18 bent grass greens were replanted with Mini Verde ultra dwarf Bermuda in early preparation to host this USPGA Major Championship (also Presidents Cup in 2021). Bent grass allows for a truer roll, while the grain of Bermuda grabs the ball, especially later in the day. However, the newest options of Bermuda relent some in terms of pull. Regulars on here will know the final three holes (par4,3&4) are dubbed the “Green Mile” and are considered the toughest closing stretch on tour. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xdX6LiaPYN4 Irish eyes are smiling as McIlroy refers to them as the "Green Smile" - while he’s licking his lips as he awaits another USPGA Major title. Oh, and just because your player is leading on the back 9 come Sunday afternoon, remember the Green Mile looms large in his mind games ! Only ONCE has the winner finished under-par for the week over this green mile stretch. Hole/Course Rank/Tour Rank/Scoring Average. No.16. / 2nd / 69th / 4.251 No.17. / 3rd / 90th / 3.230 No.18. / 1st / 20th / 4.369. Club history..... April 13, 1959 First meeting of founders. June 3, 1961 Golf course opened. (((( PGA ON BBC ))))
Live coverage begins on iPlayer, BBC Sport website online and on the red button, with the end of each day's play shown on BBC 2 for about one hour - led by Eilidh Barbour, supported by Ken Brown and YES that veteran commentator since 1961) who has become synonymous with BBC’s golf output SIR Peter Alliss lives again. BBC Radio 5 live and sports extra will also broadcast live, led by Iain Carter and Jay Townsend. Coverage times: Thursday.......... 1800-0015 - BBC Red Button, BBC Sport website, BBC iPlayer. 2320-0015 - BBC Two. 2200-0100 - Radio 5 live sports extra. Friday.......... 1800-0015 - BBC Red Button, BBC Sport website, BBC iPlayer. 2305-0015 - BBC Two. 2200-0100 - Radio 5 live sports extra. Saturday.......... 1900-0015 - BBC Red Button, BBC Sport website, BBC iPlayer. 2230-0015 - BBC Two. 2200-0100 - Radio 5 live sports extra. Sunday.......... 1900-0015 - BBC Red Button, BBC Sport website, BBC iPlayer. 2200-0015 - BBC Two. 2200-0100 - Radio 5 live. BT Sport and Twitter were also in the hunt to secure the live rights. However, the PGA of America was seduced by the reach of the BBC as a free-to-air terrestrial provider, as well as by its website and social media capabilities. Apparently, the only sticking point was that this year’s tournament at Quail Hollow clashes with the World Athletics Championships in London, for which the BBC has the rights. The golf will be on the red button until the athletics ends at 10.30pm. It means the finale will be shown live on the main channel and, from next year, normal service will resume in the multi-year deal. The USGA, which runs the US Open, is believed to be disappointment with its UK reach with Sky and last year’s Open at Troon inevitably attracted far fewer viewers than it did on the BBC. It will be interesting to see if and how this affects Sky’s MASTERS coverage as it was reported that apparently there is no deal in place for next year. ![]() |

Glory's 2nd shot? 2019 I'm reading x at Bethpage. All to avoid the NFL. Be interesting how they pull it off, Kapalua is the first week of January and if they want East Lake done and dusted by August, it means either scrapping events or moving them to the off season. The off season could do with a shake up. They have the framework in place for a proper Asian swing with CIMB leading into Sheshan, turn that into 4 weeks with an event in Tokyo and one in Melbourne and I think that would be great for the game. With quality fields attendances in Melbourne are a certainty and I imagine Tokyo would be no different. Would be more interesting than keeping events like the Greenbrier, Wyndham and the like.
If golf can't compete with NFL in the US on TV, why not take it where the NFL can't hurt? |

Xm,
The PGA of America’s decision to move its flagship event, the PGA Championship, from its long-running August date to May starting in 2019 largely has been met with approval by PGA Tour players, though mostly because of expectations of the ripple effect in the split-calendar season. The move, which sources tell Golf Digest will be announced today, is believed to be the first domino in a series of changes that includes an anticipated shift of the Players from May back to a March slot it occupied from 1977 until 2006 and the conclusion of the FedEx Cup Playoffs by Labour Day. “I know why it’s happening. I get it. I certainly applaud the PGA of America in helping the PGA Tour out,” said two-time major winner Zach Johnson. “It does help us. I think it makes our schedule much more seamless. I think it will be better all around. Now, as far as where they are going to go in the future with that earlier date, that’s the part that I don’t really know how that is going to work. Oak Hill coming up (in 2023)...can you play in the northern part of the country in May? You can, but you probably shouldn’t. You’ve got to get lucky [on the weather].” |

Fowler next on my list rhino. Just think he's too short for a serial non winner in a field of this quality.

By:
Robert Streb has been in the top 10's in the last two PGA's, was runner up a couple of tournaments back and so looks a value play @ 430.

Agree with you both CCM/Rhino, be surprised if DJ not a factor also this week though, big price for me now!!
Been backing Rory for this since prices came out and Brooks since done me real turn in US Open. Small amounts Matsy and Day,hoping small drift pre Teeoff for Top Up. ![]() Tv coverage a worry if in Balls Deep.Especially if Rain around and the schedule goes to pot,ZERO flexibility from BBC.Zero.Just wont be on. Remember Masters when rain around and Tiger was surging up board from well back, they showed absolutely none of it.None.Went from high double figures to Fav ad didnt show a shot!Pathetic. |

Rory is surely too big. If you made the argument at the start of the year he would be 8.8 at Quail Hollow coming off back to back tops 5's at The Open and Firestone you would have been laughed at. Great form from Spieth and Matsy notwithstanding, 8.8 seems like a gift from the betting gods. Was 6.2 at Valhalla...

Mr lumpy comes on 30 seconds later and it's 8.6
![]() |
|
By:
rory is 3.15 top 5
seems a decent bet |
|
By:
This is a game of opinions..............but, how can Rory be considered value at anything starting with an 8.........that's beyond me........and donny, 3.15 for top 5.........FFSK!
![]() I watched him last week, driving good, miles away from flags on most holes, pitching awful and putting average.......new caddy is for the birds .....ie a bag carrier and we think that he is ready to win. I would make him 10's+ behind, Spieth and a field of the best players on this planet. All in all Rory is a watching brief at best..This is not Quail Hollow and this is not Quail Hollow Rory. I backed Rory at 7/2 in running last week when 2 off the lead and he couldn't get that done....What am I missing? IMHO |
|
By:
you are missing whatever you put on at 7/2
unless you traded out ! golfers tend to like courses, and when they get there, its a different game good job we dont all agree, else we would get no bets matched |
|
By:
donny ''good job we dont all agree, else we would get no bets matched''
That's for sure,donny ![]() |

Rory McIlroy
13/2 7 13/2 15/2 8 7 7 13/2 15/2 7 13/2 7 13/2 13/2 7 13/2 7 6 6 7 7 13/2 15/2 6 37/5 36/5 15/2 Above is the sound of bookies shoveling money into their cellars..........I hope I am incorrect as I backed Rory to beat Dustin in a match bet at 8/11 but....... why do I feel like a lemming on a day out to the side of the abyss. This price feels 'all wrong' to me. ![]() |

Which of Mr.Turpins picks is the KR cash on ?
|
|
By:
14 to 1 the field in the open where wory was gash since then sacked his caddie and now 8,s fav across the pond, makes no sense only the desperate, needy and the IF WORY HAS HIS A GAME,HE,LL LAP THESE MERCANTS,need apply
|
|
By:
1st time poster. It makes perfect sense to me.
Rory has a very poor reword overall when playing links golf. He's admitted himself he doesn't enjoy it that much, and it doesn't suit his game that well. Whereas he has an exceptional record at Quail Hollow, in fact there isnt a course in the world where he has a better record. |
|
By:
he,s got a good record whilsty playing well besides this been set up for a slam event ,wory has failed on all types of courses and from all sorts of positions in the field this season, puttings woeful ,double bogey each round seems to have become obligatory ,finding different ways each round to mess up,the only thing he hasn't messed up lately is losing from a winning position due to the fact he hasn't been in one, wheels have come off long before the pressure kicks in on the back 9
|
|
By:
He is a player who blows hot and cold and probably always will. Can't say he was gash at The Open, only 3 players fared better. A better putting performance and who knows last week. It's back to back top 5's against top quality fields and now his favourite track at favourite time of the year. Won 13 times on PGA Tour, 7 of them have been in either August or September.
Comes down to the putter with him. He knows these greens and as Donny says just walking in the joint will give him some extra pep in the step. Not sure how you can emphatically rule him out, I would think that just comes down to nothing more than a dislike of him. |
|
By:
Not to mention if the course has been soaked, he gets his soft conditions we all know he likes.
|
|
By:
Was just about to add that rhino. It already has been soaked! Said he wont be hitting many wedges in this week. So thats another huge bonus for him. Spieth played a practice round with him yesterday and was apparently 40-50 yards behind him on most holes.
1st time poster. So can you make a case for all those players who should be vastly shorter than him this week then? Jason Day has been in worse form than Rory for ages... Rory has beaten DJ in their past two events, so his current form is better, and this course in these conditions will surely be too long for Spieth. There is an argument Matsy should be closer to him in price, but then Im backing him as well even though he's yet to prove he can do it on the Sunday of a Major. I haven't placed a penny on Rory for ages. Well over a year. But I struggle to see how anyone can make a credible case for him not being the worthy fav this week. And chances are he will lose... its a Major after all and a very competitive field, but that wont disprove the point. |
