The Masters 2016 Prediction Challenge

All welcome to play. No prizes!

How to Play

Pick ONE player for each of the 12 categories:

1) Top European
2) Top US
3) Top Rest of World
4) Top Debutant
5) Top Past Champion
6) Winner (x2 points)
7) First Round Leader
8) Winner (deadline start of round 2)
9) Second Round Leader (deadline start of round 2)
10) Winner (deadline start of round 3)
11) Third Round Leader (deadline start of round 3)
12) Winner (x3 points, deadline start of final round)

So the deadline for the first 7 categories is the start of the tournament, whereas the deadlines for categories 8-12 occur during the four days of the tournament (as shown in brackets).

Here’s the catch: You can NOT use the same player more than once! So 12 different players MUST be used for the 12 different categories.

For example, you can pick McIlroy, Spieth, and Day in the first 3 categories if you want to, but you may find yourself short of options later in the tournament if you do!

How to Enter

Simply post your 12 picks below on this thread.

You must make it clear which category you are picking for – for example, by using the numbers (1) to (12) above.

Obviously, the idea is that you post the various picks at different times during the tournament, but you can post all 12 at once if you wish.

If you change your mind about a particular pick, you can re-post any time up to the relevant deadline, and I will take the latest.

Scoring

Points are scored depending on the position in each category of your chosen player:

1st place (and ties) = 100 points,
2nd place (and ties) = 70 points,
3rd place (and ties) = 50 points,
4th place (and ties) = 40 points,
5th place (and ties) = 30 points,
6th place (and ties) = 25 points,
7th place (and ties) = 20 points,
8th place (and ties) = 15 points,
9th place (and ties) = 10 points,
10th place (and ties) = 5 points.

Otherwise, zero points. And if for some reason you do pick the same player multiple times, you will score zero for all but the first category containing that player (numbered 1 to 12 above).

For example, if you pick Willett as Top European, and he finishes 25th overall, but is ranked 6th among the Europeans, you will score 25 points for that category.

Category 6 is double points (prediction of the winner before the start of the tournament).

Category 12 is treble points (prediction of the winner before the final round).

Leaderboards will be posted at the conclusion of each round of the tournament (with provisional points shown).

And whoever has the most points at the end of the tournament will be declared the winner of The Masters 2016 Prediction Challenge!

That's all there is to it, folks. Good Luck and let battle commence!

FFS Read the Rules Cry

Here’s the catch: You can NOT use the same player more than once! So 12 different players MUST be used for the 12 different categories.

So you can't have Jordan Jordan Jordan or Smylie Smylie Smylie Wink

PS I didn't realise STUDYFORM was gonna do a comp as well, but I guess there's enough room for more than one!

Bit pointless when there is a prize comp for the masters.
Report El Bandido April 7, 2016 7:21 AM BST
charwell, I didn't know there was going to be a prize comp when I posted this thread. There wasn't one last year. In any case, it's not either/or.

CHALLENGE CANCELLED!

Thanks to those who did enter, and apologies. 11 in total, including myself and 2 that didn't read the rules!

I hoped there would be more, or at least a few more of the regulars from the Golf Comp.

I wasn't to know STUDYFORM would put up a comp with prizes an hour later! (which is a great comp btw, and I've entered it too)

It certainly shows what a difference prizes make!

Tbh I'm a bit cheesed off right now that Betfair put up a prize for that competition, while doing nothing for the GOLF COMP. They don't even reply to my emails asking for sponsorship!

Anyway, rant over. See you Monday with the scores for the Golf Comp! Enjoy the Masters!
