Rory playing very average by his standards but looking on the brightside he can only get better from here.

the inevitable rory-spieth final still looks on the cards.

How are group winners decided if level?

I assumed head to head decides it if two players level. There was someone looking for 1.7 in Ricky Fowler to top group a few mins ago. Surely he can't top group as already beaten by Dufner, and Dufner gonna be in 2 wins after tonight??

think they have a play-off whatever if there are ties.

for example Speith has beaten both Son of Dubious and the welshman but apparently will have to play off against one of them (assuming there is a winner in their match) if he loses to thomas

seems a bit ridiculous tbh

Does indeed.

Though it might help me with Ricky!

Didn't they have last year that if tied on points in went on h2h? which left too many dead rubbers. I still hate this rr format though Devil

Head to head sudden death from the 1st tee.

Yeah, knockout is certainly the better way to have it.

Not sure how Ricky didn't win that from one up and the positions they were in after 2 shots on 16!!

Never liked head to head as the first tie breaker whether it be golf or football. Group stage in 3 matches, all should be taken into account. Goal difference or holes won for and against should be 1st tie breaker. We don't need playoffs.

But yes, they should take it back to knock outs. Or 9 hole matches in the group stage and switch to 18 from round of 16. Get the group stage all done and dusted on day one. 7 rounds for the finalists two weeks before Augusta - not good. Hopefully this isn't a permanent fixture and just due to the Olympics. Let's hope the IOC ditch golf ASAP.

whatever happens whoever wins will be exhausted. from the knockout stage onwards its 72 holes in two days. but then ten days to recover for the masters.

you have to wonder if jason day's back will hold up to that sort of schedule. even though he won comfortably he was holding it once or twice yesterday, so still a problem I'd say.

well the good news is Zach has barely played 1 round so far

the bad news is despite absolutely stuffing Kaymer 8 and 6 he could lose out to the German if Zach loses and Kaymer wins today...and Kaymer wins one play off hole!!!!

and by the way Kaymer won the first yesterday

Be interesting to see if Houston has a few drop outs next week. Spieth is committed, if he goes late here, then straight to Houston, then to Augusta with all the hoopla and media duties of being defending champ, you have to wonder about that as a preparation.

Back to this though, why is Bubba bigger than his SP? Has his fate in his own hands to qualify for round of 16, and the draw thru to the semis is shaping up pretty nicely for him at the minute.
By:

When: 25 Mar 16 11:03
based on the john deere last year i'll be very surprised if Spieth pulls out. if he says he'll play then he'll play

and yes you're right such a schedule is far from ideal

but if anyone can handle it spiffy can

given Na's history of getting nervous and his propensity for throwing away winning positions, must be quite likely....
