(((((( FARMERS Insurance Open )))))) from Torrey Pines.

still fancy scotty to win this.

just a feeling I have

Justin's great when he's boring but always seems to slip up when he tries not to be.  Tomorrow very interesting now.

Rose's to lose but I'll chance a few scheckels on Rahm.

Rose 3.45 for his 3 ball?

Hoping Ghim can take inspiration from Long last week. Was world number one amateur prior to turning pro - a nice juicy price with only three guys ahead. Long was 5 back with 8 to go last week!

Go Dougie

Ghim is the jackpot for me too.  And at the price more likely to go in for more than trade out.

Rham for me too

sup!

need rose for a treble

Grant

Hope you are doing well mate.

Few nice beers and enjoy the Golf.

And we're off.

no beer for me this weekend col, saving it for next weekend, gonna be an epic weekend of sport!!

I said weekend too many times there

Yep Six nations is going to be epic.

Rose starting like yest

poor miss from rose

Door wide open but nothing at all from any of the chasers so far.

everytime this tournament is held it reminds me of the fecking insane beat I took some years ago

needed kyle stanley for an acca worth almost 2k, 3up going down the last, loses in a mugoff

I remember that, a meltdown for the ages.  Didn't Levin then gift Stanley one the next week?

yeh he did, stanley won at pheonix the week after!

Levin is one for the disappeared golfers thread, proper nut job.

not exactly great quality so far.

dechambeau might have won this by ten shots

really not a fan of that putting with the pin in from a few feet

Yeah, the only guy mounting a charge started 11 back, nothing much from the final groups.  This feels more like Torrey should though.

chasers doing nothing, reduced to hoping rose misses putts.

totally agree but would extend that to any distance.

feels like rahm looking the most solid. might grind the other two down with the quality of his long game.

omfg a 360 horseshoe for rose

flag in, flag out whatever you do you can't escape the yips.

luckily for rose nobody behind doing anything

enough time for about 2 hours sleep then!

Rahm might win this by being the least bad.  Anyone further back fancy stringing a few together?

rory back in it?

tiger to birdie his last eight and get in the play-off

Gooooooooooooooooch

Ghimbo's back in it as well.

Rory -13 too.

dear god another lip out for rose

hes mugging badly

trying to work out who is worse- rose or scott.

2nd place nailed on for Rose.

I've built a few nice greens on the chasers so Justin is nailed on to run away now and win by 6.

thoughts on jt's chances in the majors this year? (rose that is, not Thomas. or poston.)

oops, forgot Justin rose isn't a jt.

i'm losing it.

wtf has happened to coverage

Rose got the game back now, would've been interesting if someone had really put the pressure on earlier.

rosey bores me

esp when ive done rahm

hate that pin position on 12. Unleash the beast ffs.

Boring this

not if uve backed rosey!

wont back rahm again

must say the mince is very mincey,tf he didnt make a charge

Ponce and his putter. If only he could use it...

Those missed putts earlier.....

Yep, killed any chance. Fair play to Rose, -21 round here is quality playing. One of the great sporting days next Monday, Phoenix last round into Superbowl

Is Rahm joining the  " he's good but not that good " club or has been a fully paid up member for a while now ?

Pretty impressive from Rose this week. 21 under around Torrey Pines not to be sniffed at even better when you consider he dunked three shots on Saturday and missed half a dozen or so putts on the weekend that could have dropped.

A worthy number one at the moment tee to green he is superb.

Tiger Woods today commits to playing on Jan. 23rd.

Woods’s first chance at record-breaking 83rd PGA TOUR victory will come in the tournament he has won 7 times. Woods also commits to playing the Genesis Invitational.

BIT OF FUN from Rickie...

The farmers are really happy with the new China Trade Deal and the soon to be signed deal with Mexico and Canada, but I hope the thing they will most remember is the fact that I was able to take massive incoming Tariff money and use it to help them get through the tough times!

Since 2011, every single winner has started out their tournament on the South Course.

8 of last 9 winners of the Farmers Insurance Open started the week on the South Course.
Over the last 2 years at this event, 15 of the 23 golfers that finished T10 or better played round 1 on the South.
In 2018, all 3 players in the playoff (Day, Noren, Palmer) played R1 on the South.
Over the past 7 years at this event, 33 of the 81 golfers that finished between T17 and T43 played Round 2 on South, including 17 starting on the back tees
Before Justin Rose won last year, Ben Crane (2010) was the last winner to start play on the North Course.

Will that trend continue this year?

...just saying

Same sh8te, different year

Not normally a player in this tournament early as /I find it hard to get a feel off but I am hearinf good things coming out of Wee Rory's camp and have bet him accordingly this week.

with a saver on Morikawa

and Rambo as well why not have 3 in the team

Tiger over par already wouldn't be touching that price with catch me's money

Tiger & youngster Morikawa (born 6th Feb.1997) are grouped together today.
First time in Woods' career that he's been grouped with a player born after he turned pro in August 1996.

Like Westwood last week, with 11 players in that field who weren’t born when he won his first ET event.

McIlroy, Smith, Snedeker
Woods, Rahm, Morikawa

SURPRISE Featured Groups on Sky

Xander Schauffele thought he played better than the scorecard showed. But is confident he can turn things around after a +2 opening round... "If I could go play 18 right now I think I'd love to because I'm sure I'd make six or seven birdies."

CUT LINE at -1 as Xander and Rickie only just miss out on the w/end

Still a chance to see Tiger/Rory Sunday pairing

Could yet be ANOTHER AUSSIE WIN as Marc Leishman leads

BREAKING: NBA legend Kobe Bryant and four others have been killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California

Twitter world in lockdown apparently ('over capacity')

Will put a big downer on any other sporting news RIP

Anyone have a good live stream?

KOBE is to Basketball what TIGER is to Golf..... Federer/Tennis, Ronaldo/Messi/Football..... Iconic on so many levels....so sad.

Tiger most likely probably doesn’t know..... this could be rattling....hope he finishes the round.

Just give it to Marc Leishman ffs and finish this thing now.

...bigger than any golf thingy going on today.....Tiger is aware of the death of Kobe Bryant. He was informed by his caddie Joe LaCava.

Jim Nantz and Nick Faldo just opened up CBS golf coverage very quietly with a few words about Kobe.
Both clearly shocked and saddened.

5 died in the crash, so we expect family/friends were on board.

The Grammys tonite too in CAL - shocking news.

LA Sheriff’s department says there were actually 9 fatalities pilot + eight others, calls TMZ reports “wholly inappropriate”

possibly worst coverage of a golf tournament ever

YET another AUSSIE WIN (and on 'Australia Day' too)
SCOTT wins OZ PGA, WADE Ormsby wins in HK, Super SONY CAM Smith in Hawaii.
..... could this spark another ‘shark attack’ era..... should lift their fiery spirits atm

Lucas HERBERT in Dubai (ODDC) earlier, and a Marc LEISHMAN - EUROPEAN / PGA TOUR Aussie double (for the both Victorians).

The last time two Aussies won concurrent events on golf’s two largest tours was August 25, 2002.....On that day, a precocious 22-year-old talent by the name of Adam Scott claimed his third European Tour title at the Diageo Scottish PGA Championship, while veteran Craig Parry shot 65 on the final day to take out the WGC-NEC Invitational at Sahalee Country Club in Washington.

There is a history of Aussies winning in bunches.....In 2016, four Aussie men won six tournaments in the space of six weeks, starting with Marcus Fraser’s victory at the Maybank Championship in Malaysia on February 21...a week later Adam Scott secured the first of back-to-back wins at The Honda Classic, Scott Hend won ET’s True or False Thailand Classic on March 13 and Jason Day then got in on the action, winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational and WGC-Dell Match Play in consecutive weeks.
And it didn’t end there, Minjee Lee claiming her second LPGA Tour title at the Lotte Championship in Hawaii three weeks later.

Two years earlier John Senden (Valspar Championship), Karrie Webb (JTBC Founders Cup), Steven Bowditch (Valero Texas Open) and Matt Jones (Shell Houston Open) delivered Aussie victories in four straight weeks, while in 2010 Fraser sparked another flood of Aussie success when he claimed the Ballantine’s Championship in Korea on April 25, Scott and Day winning the Valero Texas Open and Byron Nelson Invitational in successive weeks from May 16.

“I saw Lucas won this morning when I woke up. Really happy for him, he’s a great player and I’m sure he’ll be over here soon,” said Leishman, recording his first win since the CIMB Classic in October 2018. “Obviously excited for myself, it’s a tournament I’ve wanted to win for a lot of years. There are so many great names on that trophy and I’m pretty proud to be one of those now. “I’m great friends with both of them (Adam Scott and Cameron Smith). Seeing them lift a trophy, it makes you want to work harder and have it be you.
“Glad it’s two weeks later after Cam and I’m sure this will give him some motivation to want to do it again too.
“Hopefully we can drag each other along this year and win a few more.” Thanks, PGA Oz
