Nobody else watching?! Got to say I've really enjoyed it so far.

Although I thought that was really poor form from Europe there. Very bad sportsmanship from Pettersen and Hull. Definitely taking the edge off their win if they do it.

Fair play to the American girls. Took that really well. Feel really bad for poor Alison lee.
Report Can't Catch Me • September 20, 2015 9:04 AM BST
Looks like Charley a hull knows they were out of order. Pettersen definitely pushed that one.
Report handtorofe • September 20, 2015 9:05 AM BST
Ruined the event for me .
Report chicken • September 20, 2015 9:06 AM BST
Yes I agree that wasn't good. Should have made Hull putt that last one for the win.
Report handtorofe • September 20, 2015 9:08 AM BST
Agree chicken she should have putted that now we will never know.
Report mafeking • September 20, 2015 9:08 AM BST
very odd. pettersen and hull looked like they were walking to the next hole. if they wanted her to putt surely you wait ?
Report Fairbet? • September 20, 2015 9:09 AM BST
I agree it's been fantastic so far. The way I see it, CH was walking off the green on 17 after the missed putt. It must have been SP that stated that the putt wasn't given in the first place otherwise the referee would have said 'all square'. The arguing the fact that it was 2 to 3 feet, rather than 1 foot, is a disgrace. They should have sorted this out before they teed off at 18 as it could have further affected the match....ie CH could have had a birdie putt to ultimately win the match. This doesn't look good whichever way you look at it. Feel ashamed to be European at the moment.
Report gentlemanjohn • September 20, 2015 9:13 AM BST
Feel sorry for Suzanne Pettersen here, going to mark her for a long time and she's the only one who doesn't seem to realise it yet.
Report Can't Catch Me • September 20, 2015 9:14 AM BST
Exactly john. Her reputation won't recover from this.

Don't feel sorry for her though, brought it all on herself. Really poor form.

It's charley hull I feel sorry for.
Report Fairbet? • September 20, 2015 9:15 AM BST
I hear what you are saying John, but find it difficult to feel sorry for something that was all of her creating. What makes it worse is that she is still defending what she did.

I've backed Europe and I want the Yanks to win it.

Such a shame a great tournament will be affected by one silly moment like that. Laura Davies spot on.
Report Can't Catch Me • September 20, 2015 9:18 AM BST
Even if we give that match as a half, the damage is done.

Would be the right thing to do all the same.
Report Fairbet? • September 20, 2015 9:19 AM BST
On a personal level...wanted to back CH in singles but not too sure about her mental state now
Report Can't Catch Me • September 20, 2015 9:20 AM BST
Just said exactly the same thing Fairbet. You could say that for the whole Europe team tbh.

The yanks probably value to win the whole thing from here
Report bannahan • September 20, 2015 9:22 AM BST
Sorry for asking but what has gone on this morning?

I have only just tuned in
Report gentlemanjohn • September 20, 2015 9:23 AM BST
I feel sorry for her because the line between the sheer competitive nature of this event - same goes for Ryder Cup - and the sportsmanship they keep going on about is going to get blurred now and again. Pettersen is one of the fiercest competitors on the tour, always one of the most popular, so in the moment it was just her instincts coming through. Not saying she is right, far from it, but the reaction is a bit OTT. Have enjoyed Laura Davies' commentary, but she was wrong in condemning the player as she did.
Report Can't Catch Me • September 20, 2015 9:25 AM BST
All square going down 17 in a fourball match. The young American Alison Lee had a ten footer to win the hole. Missed it and it was literally a foot away. The two Europe girls walked off as if it was conceded. The Anerican girl went and picked the ball up, then looked up as she realised they hadn't actually conceded it verbally. Peterson then said she was still thinking about it and hadn't conceded so took the hole. Charley Hull was playing with her is crying and in bits. She knows it was wrong. Peterson forced it.
Report bannahan • September 20, 2015 9:25 AM BST
Just seen it now
Report bannahan • September 20, 2015 9:25 AM BST

Report Fairbet? • September 20, 2015 9:26 AM BST
Yes, agree CCM....going to add a different dimenson to the singles for sure. John. I've had this happen to me in a match and it's not very nice I can tell you. Nevermind, a few million people seeing you bringing the integrity of golf to question. She's experienced enough to know better.
Report Wallflower • September 20, 2015 9:31 AM BST
Petersen clearly wrong.  The yank Nicole Castale is going over the top - you can sense she doesn't want the match to be called a half - so Yanks can either win, or claim high moral ground
Report Can't Catch Me • September 20, 2015 9:32 AM BST
5/1 USA! Makes sense for me to green up anyway, but think that's a big price considering where we are now.
Report gentlemanjohn • September 20, 2015 9:34 AM BST
Fairbet, I actually had a similar experience on the course myself, a guy throwing me my ball after I'd played out of the sand to about 2 feet. I thought he was giving me the putt, turned out he'd just marked it and threw me the ball. So i'm walking towards next tee, and they're laughing and calling me back. I was so angry i didn't even trouble the hole. I'm sure it was illegal him marking my ball, but I didn't go down that road!

Anyway, glad at least there's a thread about the Solheim. It's been a great event to watch, and the commentary is just so superior to what you get at the regular tour events. Same at the Evian Championship last week.
Report differentdrum • September 20, 2015 9:35 AM BST
Don't think 'the Yank' is going over the top. Perfectly fair assessment. Imagine if the boot was on the other foot.

Are the bookmakers bothering to price up the singles?
Report Can't Catch Me • September 20, 2015 9:37 AM BST
Don't think she is either. Think she's spot on.

The term Yank isn't a problem is it drum?!
Report Can't Catch Me • September 20, 2015 9:39 AM BST
The only positive that can be taken is that this isn't being played in the US!
Report Wallflower • September 20, 2015 9:41 AM BST
...posted on other thread..

Correct- in my mind whether it was 1ft, 3ft, 4ft is irrelevant - once the Europeans walked away it was tacit acknowledgement of a concession.

Play a bit of team golf myself, nice one though, could keep it in the back burner for a critical momentCool
Report Can't Catch Me • September 20, 2015 9:43 AM BST
Let's hope Europe don't win by a single point or less. I know the damage is already done but a clear gap will make it easier to try and gloss over.
Report Aladdin Sane • September 20, 2015 9:48 AM BST
Whole event has been tarnished now.  Closing ceremonies usually involve numerous speeches emphasising fair play and sportsmanship.
A few amendments may need to be made to the pre prepared narratives!

Report bannahan • September 20, 2015 10:05 AM BST
Really surprised by that interview
Report Can't Catch Me • September 20, 2015 10:06 AM BST
Easy to take the moral high ground though isn't it? Inkster was right, but it's pretty easy to say what she did.

Felt a bit sorry for Carin Koch tbh. She been out in an awkward position by Pettersen and couldn't really stand up the and slag her off.
Report nellie1970 • September 20, 2015 10:09 AM BST
koch is the captain not petterson could have given them the 18th all square and move on to the singles.
Report Can't Catch Me • September 20, 2015 10:10 AM BST
I agree Nellie. But if she wasn't there when it happened and she asks her player Pettersen, who presumably was adamant she wasn't wrong, she's in a tricky position IMO.

Could have been stronger, but loathe to blame her tbh.
Report nellie1970 • September 20, 2015 10:13 AM BST
i would have agreed until listening to the official koch asked him if she could do anything and he said you can concede the 18th and obviously she did not do that but thats down to her in my eyes
Report fringe up walk on • September 20, 2015 10:18 AM BST
the whole episode typifies typical female indecision , the european team leaders were obviously tryin to sway Koch and Pettersen towards the half match option but they couldnt see the light. Pettersen & Koch are rightly being accused of unsporting behaviour on the world stage.
Report FatherMaguire • September 20, 2015 10:30 AM BST
Remember Koch being a brilliant player in this, but she's let herself down here.
"Is there anything we can do?"
"Yes"
"Oh $hit"
Report the bloob • September 20, 2015 10:35 AM BST
I've just turned on the golf and missed all this, how long was the putt? was it missable? I agree that if both players were walking off that is an acknowledgement of concession
Report FatherMaguire • September 20, 2015 10:37 AM BST
hardly more than 1 foot - no chance she was missing it
Report gentlemanjohn • September 20, 2015 10:40 AM BST
Female indecision??? Jeez, let's bring a bit of stereotyping here while we're at it.

Can't say exactly how long putt was, but definitely more than a foot, at least 2 anyway.
Report FatherMaguire • September 20, 2015 10:44 AM BST
Dont think that putt was 2 feet - the ref said 16 inches, but it didnt look that long to me - 2 feet could be missable, and that didnt look missable at all

Report the bloob • September 20, 2015 10:47 AM BST
I've seen it now, it was close but I've seen those asked to be holed plenty of times, no way she misses it though. A very unfortunate incident, the way Hull and the caddies walked off it seemed pretty clear that it was given. Nobody walks to the next tee when someone is holing out, it's just bad sportsmanship, if my opponents walked off before I holed out I would pick my ball up too

Not sure many people would have backed Piller to make that putt but it ended up deciding the match. After what happened earlier pleased the USA won, a good result for Golf. Certainly makes the closing ceremony a little easier.

The SKY coverage was truly shocking. Crucial shots and putts weren't even shown and the commentary team sounded like they were at a wake.

Cheered Europe as usual for two days, cheered USA even louder today on the back of that.

So pleased that USA won and that Europe got what Pettersen and Coch deserved. Justice served.

They wanted that point so much they would do anything for it, and I genuinely believe that getting it cost Europe the match.

What do you choose:

A 10-6 lead with the whole team feeling low, embarrassed, emotional, sheepish and lacking in concentration on the job in hand with some reputations in tatters and 12 Americans fired up screaming for blood.
or
A 9.5 - 6.5 lead with the whole team buoyant, focussed, together against an American team taking a beating and struggling to get their games together?
Report mafeking • September 21, 2015 1:06 PM BST
indeed it was monumentally poor leadership from koch. there are enough vice captains and general hangers on these days. surely someone should have had the sense to realise the incident was likely to damage european chances
