Confidence looks shot to pieces,IMO having a reduced schedule is doing him no good at all surely playing a few smaller tournies and getting yourself in contention would do him good if he could with the way his putting is

Not like it's doing much for him Mighty.

my post vanished!

Its not rhino but he is even worse without it hence his early season swap back to the long one.
It doesnt matter how well you swing it or how well you hit it if you can't putt you are finished at the elite level.

Very suprised he has played so little this year given the fact he can't use his weapon of mass destruction from January. If there was ever and argument to ban the long putter his is the main one. Thats not a golf club its a guiding missile.

his schedule is similar to previous years. He tries to peak for the majors. He hasn't done it well this year baring his run at the Open.

Scott tends to play more than most in asia and australia as the year comes to an end.

sometimes the best way to 'peak' for a major is to win a couple 'cr@p' tourneys and destroy sh1te fields. play more golf. you are a pro golfer  ffs. scott wins his 'cr@p' tourneys in australia which isnt really earth shattering and doesnt prepare him for anything.

then again he might just enjoy living well. banging chicks, surfing and talking like a ponce.

and his use of the long putter is evidence it is not performance enhancing in general Laugh

I know he only plays a short schedule. But i expected him to play more this year as his putting with the short putter is bad. It may mean next year he won't be able to earn as much. Be interesting how he go's next year with the short putter. Will probably have to play more as his world ranking is sure to go down.

He go married last year and became a father early this year. Maybe he is just enjoying that. Good luck to him, who are any of us to say what he should be doing.

Hard to criticise the shorter schedule since he's got to world number 1 and won the Masters since doing it!  Whether he's "finished" will really come down to how he performs without the long putter in coming years.  The fact he switched back to it this year probably doesn't bode well.

Scott has been top 5 in the betting for Majors as far back as I can remember, the fact he was outside of that, and drifted before the off, for an event with no depth in field such as this, speaks volumes.

I did back him, but it's been a very frustrating watch. I shall certainly be steering well clear from now on.

he's got his priorities right.

Don't think his schedule is the issue it has been the same for the last 5 years and as Knight rider has said it worked when he was playing well.

This year he just hasn't played as well as in previous years. The birth of his child may have affected his practice routine and losing steve Williams from his bag earlier this year probably didn't help.

I suspect the biggest issue is around the putter. Changing back to the short stick earlier this year didnt work and once you lose confidence putting it can effect all aspects of your game.

Putting is such a massive part of the game - one or two putts a day missed suddenly means 4 - 8 shots over the week which drops you rapidly down the field.

Unless Scott can find a solution with the putter then it is hard to see how he can compete at the top of the game.
