I know a lot of you on this forum are very successful with your golf punting but I'm pretty new to it and was looking for a bit of advice on what kind of strategies and methods people employ for golf tournaments to try and make a profit. Any time I've had a bet on the golf in the past, it's more for an interest whilst I'm watching the coverage so I've just picked a few players that I thought could win and put a few small wagers on.
Do most of you start out with a few picks and let them run? Or is it advisable to do a bit of trading if you do get someone in contention during the tournament and add more players to your stable? I've also heard theories on laying half the field (or something like that) at the start of the tournament? Do you keep a record of all your golf bets?
Just wondering what you all think are reasonable methods to use for a golf punting novice?! Any help and advice appreciated!!
Bet on a Saturday or after two rounds. Study what has happened and why? Find out how the tournament played out historically, ( where were previous winners placed at this stage, were they rookies, long drivers, what stat is standing out, how much part has wind, weather, the draw made, etc). So know you know why it takes alot of work! Good luck.

Many players like Rickie Fowler & Charl Schwartzel are reguarly underpriced when in contention on the PGA tour.
Considering they have won only a couple of events between them on the PGA tour.
This makes them excellent laying material.
Other golfers are available!
Also players like Matt Kuchar are worth laying at very short odds.
7 wins from 70 career top tens hardly suggests he uses his experience to get the job done.

Very good thread wipe out. I'm also considering getting more involved in the laying in play golf. another thing you need to know when laying on the Sunday is which holes playing hardest etc so that a player could be 2 in front but still have to play say 3 of the hardest holes on the course at the start of the back 9 good luck

I back players where I think that the odds are greater than the probability of them winning. I lay players where I think the odds are too short given said player's prospect of winning. There's no cap on the number of bets that I'll have, it just depends on how many players fall into the above criteria. It could be 100 bets or it could be 0.
I then leave the bets alone unless I determine that there's a further pricing error. I don't let my pre tournament backs influence whether I then lay a player if he's winning on Sunday and vice versa. I treat each bet as a new one and bet irrespective of the money that I have already wagered.
