((((( THE OPEN Championship 2015 )))))

Where's your team Quincy?

When looking at the wind direction....blowing NW by N....it could help Bubba...left handed fade shots would become straighter.

No septics ere, looking forward to this, have tagged a coupla runners before the off with Luuuuke, Victor Dub, Charl, Moli & jacquelin who have been watching for a while as hes coming back, maybe not for this tourney but 2nd last week cant really ignore at prices near 500.0

You've got it. Ski!  Speith.

Will probably add Willett, Fowler, Grace and some at 200 plus. Might even add Woods as a possible trade.

Bubba @ 42
Sergio @ 42
An @ 170
Keegan @ 28 (Top5 Finish)

Gl all.

No Top Australian market? FFS. There is a top Australian market most weeks, anyones guess why, no one even looks at it. On a week where it might actually see some action... nothing. Good thing we have Top Danish and Top Italian markets, they should generate a lot of interest

No Winning score market either. I was told there would be one

There is a top australian market....rhinio must be going blindio.

my eyes are just fine. I have no top Australian market and have refreshed several times. How is that possible?

What price is the ponce ski?

I've backed Bubba and Fowler. Bubba is unorthodox but a major winner who can get the job done. Fowler is very confident and well prepared.

Speith is the best player, goes without saying, but winning a play off and flying straight here isn't ideal, he'll be shattered come Sunday.

Logged out and logged back in - hey presto there it is. I can also magically now bet on the Champion Golfers Challenge

If only I knew what it was

Go Thomson

I'm not surprised you couldn't find it. All the 'Top' markets are spread out. You'd think they'd be all together. Who's running the show!

Told you it was there rhinio.......off to Specsavers you must go

What is the Champion Golfers Challenge and the groups?

http://www.theopen.com/Players/ChampionGolfersChallenge

Check it out.....on today.

Is the Watson v Faldo matchbet a dead heat if both miss the cut or do the scores count? Or is it awarded for the longest wave off the bridge?

winning score markets are up now

the on course interview questions are really banal---rishi shown his place by charles

So my Open picks. Gone for Patrick Reed as my nap. I think he has gone massively under the radar this week. He was pretty unlucky at the US Open, he got a few awful bounces in the 3rd round which put his challenge to bed but if he's in contention you know h knows how to win and matched at 80 is very generous.

Also backed Andy Sullivan as he sounded very confident when intrviewed on BBC the other day. His final couple of rounds at the scottish open were a bit worrying but if you can forgive them then he's a big each way price.

Hatton, Luiten and Pepperell both youngsters with potential who have shown in both Scotland and Ireland that they like links golf. Hatton actually made his debut at St Andrews as a 17 year old in 2010 so does have some experince here.

Russell Henley I am a big fan and will back him every week when the price is right. Out of all the open courses, this should suit him the best and he could easily shoot up the leaderboard and go low if his putter is hot.

The other guys I have picked are more speculative punts as I think they are overpriced. Levy, Tringale and Manassero... Ok Manassero isn't overpriced on current form but oh well :D.

tiger birdies 17

Tiger -2 after 3 holes.....oh he's back home at the home of golf. 46 is terrific.

rishi asks mickleson what wine he likes

what a tool

Rishi is rubbish.....how he got the job i'll never know.

Always like to go deep in an outsider for this, gone with Richie Ramsay.  Some good results this year and 2nd in the Dunhill last year, and should obviously be well suited if the weather gets nasty.  Think 500-600 is a big price when it wouldn't really be an enormous surprise if he performs well.  Got a cheeky 6 figure sum under his name, can always dream.  Backup plans as it stands are Charley Hoffman (decent in the wind), Lowry and Owen.

arnie --legend

got my bet on... £10 on Spieth at 8/1... £11.37 on Oosthuizen at 28/1 and £10 Woods at 45/1.... All im doing. No inplay malarky

mickleson @ 48s looks decent bet ta lay .

I've held out

put a fiver on tiger

Better than nothing.

I think they call it positive discrimination lol

When Louis won here at St Andrews, he had a massive advantage in weather on the first two days.

The more I look at the forecast and the more accurate it gets, I certainly would not want to be on anyone out late on Friday afternoon.   Some balance in the fact that get the better conditions day 1, but overall at the moment it looks a negative.

Who knows in that micro-climate though

I certainly would not want to be on anyone out late on Friday afternoon.

The latest is Friday's weather is the same in terms of clouds and rain but the morning is windy....calmer a bit midday....windy after 4 pm. Basically if one is in the lead, i predict most from Thursday morning groups, the play for a par round on Friday.

Remember that ,Louis went out very early Friday. He was about 500/1 and Eddie the Eagle copped 300k+ I think.

my list, which is heavily in favour of shane lowry, include.

Said it on another thread, but I don't really agree with what the prevailing wisdom among a few pundits seems to be about late / early being best.  Late / early gets two breezy and rainy rounds, whereas if I'm early / late I'm licking my lips at a start in the calm conditions on Thursday morning, and I'll contend with Friday when I get there.  You also have to remember that it can only get so windy before they have to stop as happened in 2010.  Looks to me that the earlier the better for both rounds, so the super early early / late groups (the Bjorn group has 6.32 then 11.33) are likely to have the most advantage of all.

That's if any of the forecast comes to fruition at all.

The bets are coming in faster now......odds are contracting and drifting.....my excitement level is increasing.

Hope there is no runaway winner. Be great to see a good few in the mix back nine sunday.

So long the runaway winner is my biggest green.............i don't mind at all.

Well if the runaway is my biggest win i won't complain.

Plenty of money for Fowler and DJ

Think Scot coming back to form played very well in last tournament and broom handle working again with kuchar as a reserve

main bnet is koepke, but also on casey luiten Morrison cab bello and added Harrington , trouble is you can keep on adding player after player and not get close to backing winner , did tke advantage of baldys 3/1 top ten offer for  rickie fowler, not doubt add others layer . oh of course the compulsory 10er on t hatton.( couldn't let him run loose t that price)

Scott i think will be there abouts myself. Fowler/DJ just cant see them winning. Love to see DJ win a major at some stage. I think he will but hard to see so soon after the us open.

Backed all the scottish n australians players with speith, mickleson, and fowler .

A case can be made for a lot of players.

about half the field have a feasible chance, obviously some to much lesser degrees  than others, couldnt back anyone at less than 33s knowing that the draw could determine anyones chances

Bets on! I really want to see Tiger play well tmw and watch the price collapse

If Spieth wins again he's just incredible and I will lose my bets but enjoy watching sporting history

I fancy koepkes  chances as strongly as you can fancy a 70/1 chance.james morrison is sooo overpricec at 500+. he seems to play well every week nowadays.

bloody excited. Lowry the main hope, but plenty of others. I'm sure Oosty was 999/1 on here in 2010? didn't he even have an injury doubt back then?

he also was in the poorest form of his life, missed cuts

even told his caddie they were separating after the open

My Open selects...
Stenson, Bubba, Zach, Molinari, Casey, Day, Kisner, Oosthuizen, Lowry...

GOOD LUCK ALL

Had the most beautiful looking book ever at one point, over committed on Tiger expecting a major plunge and it never came. The red out cost a penny or two and had to burn much of the book to cover the loss.

Scott +2.3K
Kaymer +2.4K
Kuchar +3.7K
Dubuisson +3.5K
Zach +300
FranMol +450
Palmer +2K
Donaldson +4K
Woodland +1.4K
Martin +1.4K
Simpson +2K
Manaserro +2.6K
M Hoffman +1.5K

No liability. Not bad but have sacrificed some really nice potential wins on quality players. Tiger went from 50 to 32 on here Masters week, not sure why he has gone the other way here considering the St Andrews form and his last performance.

Tiger drift is only temporary....some back then lay as soon as it looks like drifting further in order to back at a higher price. The trading game is in overdrive since 9 pm and matched bets jumped from £5.7m to £6.4m

Bjorn, Leishman, Westwood, Kuchar, Phil, Tiger, Donald, F.Molinari, Matsuyama for me...with the annual 'Don't be silly but I like your style - Darren Clarke £20e/w' going on Poults. gl all.

It has been fascinating watching how the Speith factor has distorted the market.

Day 1 thread is up.

Oosty
Day
Matsuyama
Fleetwood
Dubuison
Fisher
Howell

Small prods at M Hoffman, Bradley and Henley

Nearly time all!

Spieth
Fowler
Bubba
Garcia
Snedeker
Poulter

All each way bar Spieth.

The Open Championship will have a Monday finish for only the second time in its history after high winds postponed play on Saturday.

With 42 golfers still to complete their second rounds - having managed just 32 minutes' play after returning at 7am this morning before being blown off St Andrews' Old Course - there is no possibility of completing the remainder of the tournament in time.

Refreshing to hear the views of Player and Watson, great stuff.

TWENTY, yes 20 PLAYERS including SUPERMAN Spieth at only 5 back from Dustbin.

Only 2 players have won an Open at St Andrews when 5+ back thru 36 holes - and they were in 1895 & 1933.

Finishing at level par, David Duval makes the cut for the first time since 2008.

Louis Oosthuizen is just 3 back and trying to become 3rd player in the last 100 years to win multiple Opens at Old Course...the other two - Jack & Tiger.

Jason DAY hasn't missed a major cut since 2012 and is 5 T10's in that stretch.

Dustin Johnson - last 5 major starts...
Rounds 1 & 2: 31-under
Rounds 3 & 4: Even
Ooops

Nice stat

FIVE AMATEURS make the cut......PPoor prices

-6 Paul Dunne 11/10
-4 Jordan Niebrugge 9/4
-3 Romain Langasque 4
-2 Oliver Schniederjans 5
-1 Ashley Chesters 11

RHINO,
11 Aussies made the cut incl my man MARCUS.....though I think we picked the wrong Aussie

The more recent OPEN winners from St. Andrews

1970 Jack Nicklaus 68 69 73 73 283 (−5) Doug Sanders missed a tough two and a half-foot putt on the 72nd hole, bogeyed, and ended up tied with Nicklaus. The playoff the next day came down to 18th hole and Nicklaus birdied to win; it was his second Open title and eighth overall Major.

1978 Jack Nicklaus 71 72 69 69 281 (−7) Nicklaus completed the career Grand Slam (winning all four majors in your career at least once) for the third time making it his third Open Championship.

1984 Seve Ballesteros 69 68 70 69 276 (−12) The leaderboard for the final day was full of the best golfers in the world at the time. Ballesteros beat Bernhard Langer, Tom Watson, Fred Couples, Lanny Wadkins, Nick Faldo, and Greg Norman to make an epic final round at St Andrews. Ballesteros birdied the 72nd hole to win by two, and his fist pump is an iconic image to this day. His second OPEN win.

1990 Nick Faldo 67 65 67 71 270 (−18) Faldo set the Open championship scoring record shooting 18 under par, winning his second major of the year, his second Open Championship and his fourth overall major.

1995 John Daly 67 71 73 71 282 (−6) This Open was significant because it was the first that Tiger Woods played in, and the last that Arnold Palmer played in, getting to have his farewell at St Andrews. John Daly beat Costantino Rocca in a four-hole playoff to win the Open title.

2000 Tiger Woods 67 66 67 69 269 (−19) Winning the 2000 British Open was Tiger Woods' second consecutive major championship; he would win the next two as well for four consecutive major victories over two years - the "Tiger Slam". He didn't hit a single bunker the entire tournament, shot in the 60's all four rounds, won by eight strokes, and set the new Open Championship scoring record with 19 under par.

2005 Tiger Woods 66 67 71 70 274 (−14) This was Jack Nicklaus's last Open Championship and like Arnold Palmer, he finished on the Old Course. This was also Tiger's 10th major championship and the fourth one he had won by five or more strokes

2010 Louis Oosthuizen 65 67 69 71 272 (−16) On the 150th anniversary of the first Open Championship, Oosthuizen played consistently well, winning the Open title by shooting a 16 under par 272 and winning by seven strokes. Rory McIlroy shot a 63 in the opening round.

A wee note laddie on the OPEN Winners from St. Andrews.....and their final two rounds scores...
-4 (69,71) Louis.
-3 (71,70) Tiger.
-8 (67,69) Tiger.
Par (73,71) Daly.
-6 (67,71) Faldo.
-5 (70,69) Seve.
-6 (69,69) Jack.
+2 (73,73) Jack.

BOOKIES HAVE IT DOWN TO SIX (they're never too far wrong) - 2 Aussies, 2 Yanks, 1 South African and 'ar Danny, a South Yorkshire Lad - who was ranked World #1 Amateur back in 2008 following his wins in the English Amateur, Australian Stroke Play & Spanish Amateur Open Championships.

Dustin Johnson 2
Adam Scott 8
Louis Oosthuizen 12
Jason Day 12
Jordan Spieth 12
Daniel John Willett 14
25's bar.

Ey up, an’ ah’ll tell thi that fer nowt, Leishman 7-under-thru13 !

Rd4. - the flags will be tucked away for gettable pars, but very tough birdies as in 2010 - Louis shot 71, Tiger 70 & 69 in their final rounds to win.

Anyone have the 2010 SUNDAY PIN POSITIONS ?

NOW
Jordan Spieth 11/4 (mostly 5/2)
Louis Oosthuizen 7/2
Jason Day 7/2
Adam Scott 20
Paul Dunne 20
Padraig Harrington 22
Justin Rose 22.

good point about the pin positions. especially after todays birdie-fest. theyll be a lot tougher tomorrow, making it really hard for anybody too far off the pace to come back to win it. add in the possible wind and rain, and the pressure, -14 or -15 could well win it.

I'm just hoping the weather doesn't become so bad that they can't finish it today - looks pretty grim from about 2.00pm onwards, certainly wouldn't be surprised if there is a suspension of play at some point.

The leaders are on -12 but if the weather intervenes the winning score could easily be less. If an early starter can shoot 65 or so before the rain starts and post a decent clubhouse score they might have a squeak (like Paul Lawrie at Carnousite).
There are loads of options but Phil Mickelson is on -4 and tees off at 10.10am so given his genius he could shoot 65 and get to -11 so I've had to throw £2 away at 1,000 just in case.

early scoring suggests the pins are not hidden on first 12 holes

How is it that the BBC cover all the Wimbledon tennis matches yet very little of the golf, of the current leaders we have seen none of their golf take Dunne, Ousthaesein and even Day. Very poor coverage anyone got a reason, does look like BBC shooting themselves in the foot.

easy scoring so far. strange stuff. picking a winner from here looks a minefield.

Zach looks like a guy who can handle himself.well played zach.

well done zach and his backers
