Lets get one thing straight here
The so called hooligan behaviour in the Ryder Cup began with the EUros
Tony Jackass and his like dancing round the greens in the 80s
Guys like Jack, Watson, Trevino were paragons of sportsmanship on the course

With the news that McGinley (with McIlroy no doubt instrumental) invited that colossal pr1ck Alex Ferguson into the camp, the fact that McIlroy and MCDowell are braggart Man Utd fans, Poulter is an obnoxious Gooner
Well it has to be
U-S-A
U-S-A
all the way for me

Also have to factor in that the last 3 editions, the US have acquitted themselves very well
Just one bad session on sat night at Celtic Manor cost them
And how they didnt win at Medina i do not know
By and large Pavin got the better of Monty, Davis wiped the floor with Olly til the singles (out of his hands)
McGinley v TW is a mismatch of Bruno Tysonesqe proportions
15/8
I'll be a yankee doodle dandy at that price

I think it was a superb little quip, obviously only he could have said it, with his own headlines recently, prob thought of it ages ago.
Little needling here and there is brilliant as long as everyone is careful and it's pride not anger

Here's who played with who in practice...

12-man team split up into four groups of three

McIlroy, Martin Kaymer and Sergio Garcia

McDowell, Victor Dubuisson and Henrik Stenson.

Justin Rose, Ian Poulter Stephen Gallacher,

Thomas Bjorn, Lee Westwood and Jamie Donaldson

Think were going to see alot of Gallacher, People generally see him more backseat, But i see him playing in the morning, and if he gets a win, maybe 3-4 matches. Grew up and had 7 top tens here, thats important stuff imo

soon know i suppose, does seem the last 4 are contenders as the ones to miss day 1.

Vegas, I think Gallagher's course form is a bit of a red herring as this course wasn't even there then! Will have played it plenty in the last few years of course, but not as much as is being made out IMO. How many of those top tens were on the Centenary course?

I'd also like to point out Gallacher's career singles record in match play events. Played 7, lost 7! Quite a damning stat.

lol - i do actually look into these things, i aint just copy n pasteing...

First known as the Monarch’s Course from its 1993 opening, The PGA Centenary has matured to offer a fantastic risk-reward test perfectly suited for the matchplay format of The Ryder Cup.

Gallacher played in the 1993 opening johnie walker @ GLENEAGLES, then played again in 1999 along with his 3rd ever 2000 showing, young kid learning the game and course were his 3 Missed cuts!

I did make a mistake, he did miss again in 2006

In his last five showing since 2008, he has has 4 top tens and a 14th

ahh wasn't a mistake, i just decided not to include it as it was 2 years before he turned pro,

hadn't looked re matchplay but did have this -

Won the Scottish Amateur Match Play and Stroke Play Championships to accompany his Lytham Trophy success. Was a member of the victorious Walker Cup side at Royal Porthcawl in 1995.

Vegas, can you please explain why course form at Sawgrass, Bay Hill and PGA National is a factor here? I don't understand the link.

Hi CCM, I was of the belief that the Johnnie Walker (or whatever guise it has been played as) has always been played on the same course. It just changed it's name to the Centenary from the Monarch (expect there's been the odd change here and there).

I'm a bit of a stickler for course form in usual strokeplay tournaments, so interesting to see how it pans out in matchplay where it shouldn't in theory play such an important part.

@ RHINO - Can't think how to explain in any short way, so will ask u to imagine something...

PICK UP THE CENTENARY COURSE AND PLONK IT JUST DOWN FROM WEST VIRGINIA - THEN LOOK AT THE FLORIDA SWING AND ADD IN GLENEAGLES

Once u do that, come back and tell me it doesn't fit like a glove!!
By:

think i mean georgia not virginia - u know what i mean, start of the florida swing basicly, which all the usa courses are on.

"Still a clear 20 hours to go until the gun goes, but stands around the first tee and down the rolling fairway packed to the scaffolding line for the final European practice group of the day. Respectful applause for Henrik Stenson, standing ovation for Justin Rose, whooping and hollering for Talisman Poulter.
"The man with the 80% winning Ryder Cup record responds by bumping his fist on chest badge and then pointing in ostentatious fashion at the panorama of support all around. That he sends his drive way left and his replacement way right rather spoils the effect, but still."

Hi RF and Vegas. That's right it has always been the Monarchs. But having played it pre and post the 2011 changes I think it's pretty different! I wouldn't be sure anyone with good course form before the changes would automatically be suited by the new course. The greens got loads more undulations and it was lengthened.

Probably a moot point anyway as he has shown he can play well on the course as it is

Rose & Stenson - The banker bet imo, but not doing a single, will have to stick with my man Gallacher & Poulter for the double, even tho he was the one person i don't think i wanted him paired with - hmm to be confirmed lol
