Penultimate week of the season. Get to work lads we've lost a day this week. Anyone know anything about the course? Took the tour online, hard to tell who if anyone it will suit, looks fairly regulation, not too tight and not too wide off the tee. Weather looks ok, bit of rain on the weekend but nothing that the limited field shouldn't be able to get through.

Team Rhino has been launched with Rose, Sergio and Haas. Rose and Sergio both nice prices on here and had the week rest instead of a 3 day turnaround.

It's possible the organiser decided it will be a par 4 instead. I guess we all will find out of Thursday.

Course information:

1)The rolling terrain and meandering creek help in making this a true test of golf.
2)The back nine is Cherry Hills’ strength on the merits of the 12th, 14th, 16th, 17th, and 18th holes which features several hazards and classic shapes.
3)Cherry Hills is a classicly designed parkland course
4)Water comes in play on nine holes, but drastically on only five holes, 12, 14, 16, 17 and 18.
5)The hardest hole could be the 18th, which for the members plays as a par 5, but for this week will be a 477 yard par 4.  Water comes in play in which you have to drive over it, and you can cut off as much as you chose with the lake down the left-hand side.
6)Four of the par 4s plays over 475 yards as distance is reduced on this course that sits at over 5,000 feet in elevation.
7)Tough fairways to hit and once you do the greens only average 4,700 square feet making them very hard to hit
8)There is 82 bunkers, but they are more for decoration than making the course tougher to play.
9)The opening hole is best-known for being the par four that Arnold Palmer drove on the final day of the 1960 U.S. Open, which lead to a birdie and eventually the victory.
10)Only 10% of the field has seen the course,Phil Mickelson won the 1990 Amateur on it. looking at the 2012 Amateur, Jordan Spieth was the only player to make it to match play and he lost his round of 64 match, Cameron Tringale played the 2009 Palmer Cup at Cherry Hills.

WHATS NEEDED

1)Tight fairways and small greens make this a scramblers delight.  Looking at the scrambling stats in the top-ten - (Jim Furyk 1st, Kevin Na 2nd, Sergio Garcia 4th, Brendon Todd 6th, Jason Day 8th, Chris Kirk 9th, and Jordan Spieth 10th.
2)So with hard greens to hit, does this favor a Rory McIlroy?  Yes, in looking at the Greens hit stat for 2014 he is 6th which favors him in hitting lots of greens, and Sergio Garcia 10th they could fight it out again this week.
3)Another important element in small greens, making putts in the 5 to 15 foot range, on new courses and ones with small greens great putters always do well.
4)In the summer they always seem to get late afternoon thunderstorms everyday, This week is more of the same, long range forecast is for scattered Thunderstorms Friday through Sunday.

Who I could trade vegas. I have no idea who will win this week given we have no clue about the course. Picking a winner is golf ain't easy at the best of times. Show me a guy who thought Kirk would win last week from Henley, Horschel and Ogilvy and I'll show you a liar, or an extremely lucky fool.

Trade as many as you can and see where the chips fall.

No Rory sheppy. Seemed well below last week aside from Saturday. One eye on Atlanta and RC perhaps? I do like the fact Sergio and Rose have had a rest as well. Kaymer the value IMO.

Unlike tennis where only Djokovic wins, everybody has a chance don't they so anyone that can be traded on is worth it.

I like to think I can predict the market, BUT I seem to be taking one step forward, and two back!

The trouble with trading is the fact that your stake is usually much higher, and if it goes wrong it can be fatal!

Sometimes I think that backing lots of golfers at much lower stakes is probably a better option???

Yes trading would need higher stake than just betting to win for the same winning amount. Fatal? Depends on the person....i have no compunction about selling for a small loss. I.e.....back @ 40 £100...sell @42 £95 - £5 loss and easily recovered over 4 days.

Ski... I've read that selling for a small loss is the right thing to do, but I just can't bring myself to do it. I'd be hoping it would go back down to 38, which it probably won't do!

Anyway, not long to go now... Happy

If I've done the figures right, Ski, your example means you've had a fiver at evens, so if you've traded all the others, it's still a winner.  Have to be honest though, my brain is not really on the golf, hospital appointment for more surgery on the arteries brought forward because of a kidney abnormality.  Not impressed with life too much today.

Don't know what to do with Rose and Sergio.  Seem a bit short to me. particularly Rose.  Good luck with yours.
