Great reply there to calling him Robbie Fowler!

A few years ago I thought the same-he should call it a day but love him and a total breath of fresh air.We will
miss him when he is gone. Ok,he gets plenty wrong but so what.Speaks his mind and we will soon have the likes of
Dan Walker and the likes of Matt Baker dominating the BBC.Can speak all day and never once say anything worth listening to.

Read and interview with him couple of years ago and it was great stuff.Off the wall comments and views and I don't mean some old fart who reads The Daily Mail.

James is ok,Torrance was patronising

James is by far the worst, awful commentator, tiger bashing constantly , should have been pulled off air years ago

Allis in great form today, he may be getting on in years and gets things wrong but still as witty as ever. It just wouldn't be the same without him

i was guest at a golf day i attended in the 80 s

he did an hour exhibition, where he chatted and showed what trevino would do
if he was there, hooks, draws, fades, slices, changing clubs and hitting it more
or less bang on

he then played a round, he shot 3 over  without putting well

he did a spot of speaking at the evening dinner before handing on to
peter parfitt

a very nice chap, perhaps a tad aloof, but hey ho, you cant have it all

any chance he gets, he said yesterday Tiger's par on the 8th was very poor as it was one of the easiest holes on the course.  Fact was it was the 2nd hardest hole yesterday but James couldn't resist another dig.  Constantly at it, if your an english golfer your are brilliant, if that isn't working he goes on to the british golfers, the rest don't matter.  T wat and his comment about ht eN Irish fighting a few years ago should have seen the bigoted c nut removed

The year Darren Clarke won it , the friday he was obviously playing well but the fighting over the parades was in full swing. His co commentator said there was big galleries supporting Darren and he quipped in with "it might stop them fighting each other for a few hours"

ok, sorry, yes james has,

james was players rep though for a while when he played, and well liked

and despite his commentry persona is a whizz on the rules of golf

sandy was a great player, but perhaps a bit of a loner, and might not
have been an obvious pick

he and faldo had their differences and i dont know if that counted against him ?

james of course fell out with faldo too, and was a very poor captain, imo

Always found it strange that James could have been considered for captaincy after he and his chum Brown basically acted the maggott when playing on the team together one time

If i remember correctly didnt sandy blow his chances by walking off the course at the open one year?? Badly treated regardless imo

sandy was a great player and was the one who smashed down the barriers of no brits having won majors
for so many years, he did leave to play in usa and that may have counted against him too

i dont think being a great player is enough to be ryder cup captain though, if we want to win

Why didn't anyone tell Alliss that Johnson was sitting three on the green

He should not have to be told. He's watching the damn thing!

Agree someone should have told him Johnson's put was for bogey. Cringe worthy. The sooner the useless BBC lose the contract the better.

I've been on alliss watch today and have decided I love his poetic rumblings. But man he gets a few things wrong.

In the last half an hour I've heard:

"That is way way right....oh no its just off the fairway"

"Has it made it , has it made it, it has you know.... ooh no it didn't"

(Putt taken) "No. .....Oh it's in"

and the two most damning things

1) Rickie Fowler who was joint second putted from off the green and it rolled back to him meaning a bogey was imminent. Allis didnt even refer to it as he was blathering on about a youth tournament in Middlesborough! The guy was second in the open and he didnt even refer to the fact he was going to bogey as a result of his shot"

2) "Why dont they just hit it straight on to the green?"
"Well they like to play it out wide and fade it in"
"Really? They play a different game to me these days"

Yes Peter they do. Shut the door on your way out.

All the above was in the last half an  hour. Amazing he gets paid and expensed.

Even as I've typed this: "Hello? That does not look good....oh no its OK"

He's relentless!!

Referring to Tiger round. "Three bad shots cost him four shots"

These 3 bad shots cost him a bogey a double bogey and a triple bogey

sandy blotted his copy book by walking off in the open in bad weather coz he couldn't be arsed.  As a senior player on an exemption it was very bad judgement.
