If anybody has the inclination, time or software, maybe they would post the bookie who is offering the best price on Rory winning this week and then taking the Masters.Rang the bookie who is always listening, 50/1 is a bit of an insult.

Singly he is going 9/1 on each tournament.

always feel the week before a major and week afterwards as minium stakes time(was gutted last year as was golf saturated and let horshel unbacked in new orleans)
but this week u always feel the big boys dont really relish the mental challenge of competing for the trophy and are happy tweaking game and avoiding injuries. the course is set up to mimic augusta but plenty of birdies 14/15 to win one golfer who will be up for the win is g delaet yet to win on the pga tour.....good course form 3rd here 2011 and best results seem to be on low scoring courses. ossti is massive price at 80s stan james....again low scoring courses has done well at augusta.......gd form this year with win in st africa and in accenture 80s is a gift gd luck with above boys |

Enough big names win these pre-Major tournaments to tempt one to overlook the 'just tuning up' theory and take it as any other regular tour event. Have already backed Stenson next week and no reason not to back him this week as he's a great chance of being in the mix.
Stenson 18/1 Haas 45/1 Guthrie 249/1 Gore 589/1 |

It's the week before the Masters and to be honest I am keeping my powder semi dry as you never really know who will be on song for the Shell Houston Open and who is simply going through the motions and preparing for next week. Phil Mickelson would be my idea of a bet but he is obviously struggling with fitness as a lot of top players seem to be at the moment.
Yet again the Graham DeLaet fan club is out in force (George Coetzee supporters seem to have taken him under their wing!) but my main play is on a player with better course form and who has a couple of PGA tour wins under his belt already. Chris Kirk has a scoring average of 68.88 around this weeks track with finishes of 2nd and 22nd - thats over half a shot better than his closest rival Stenson on 69.42. He has turned into an incredibly consistent golfer (just one missed cut since July last year) who plays the same courses well year in year out - take the hint and get him onside 0.6 ew 50/1 The Australians are in fine form this year and with recent wins for Senden and Bowditch (and Scott should have won) plus Karrie Webb doing well on the LPGA and even Rhein Gibson nearly won in Indonesia last week - unerstandably I wanted to get an Aussie player onside. The pin fell on Geoff Ogilvy as he really caught the eye last week when finishing 11th and now comes to a venue where he has played well in the past. Back in 2008/9 he finished 2nd and then 6th so can clearly plot his way round the Redstone course. It has been a while since he graced the winners enclosure but I still think he retains the talent and have had a modest wager 0.25 ew 125/1 |

I think Rory will be closer to 12/1 for the Masters as long as he does not win in the interim. Dont forget he opened just 9/1 ish here as well. Certainly an each way price at 12.5 if you can fet the equivalent place price. Heinz, maybe we are on the same views. Most of the American NAMES have failed to beat players well outside the top 100 in the last few weeks. Says little for the top tour pros. Have to add Scott to that list.At last, Tigers medical team have convinced him to get his back sorted. He maybe wasted 2 years of a top golfer trying to win majors.

I think the best I have heard for a long time from a bookie was a quote of 50/1 the double Rory to win here and then the Masters. From the Powerful bookie. An insult to a customer. Or they do not want to lay that double.

By:
@ any forumite with a very big bank. It looks to me a fantastic opportunity to lay McIlroy at present price here on Betfair for the Masters. You can already get better with the high street but Betfair price will be even better come the day, I would imagine. Am interested in the views of other members.
|
|
By:
In fairness if Rory wins this week he will be very short for the Masters, with Tiger out and none of the other big names in form.
|
|
By:
@Knight Rider... still the powerful bookie goes 9/1 The Masters. Less than that here but you would need to check how much Pat will take. Especially if you go with a new account.
|
|
By:
If Rory gets off to a bad start, it could push his Masters price out.
Phew! It's not like me to say the obvious! ![]() |
|
By:
toberaheena, isn't the powerful bookie going 8/1 Rory?? He is best priced 11/1 to win this week and would be what price in the masters if he did?? I would guess around 5/1 but honestly not sure on this.
|
|
By:
@Sports Fan...he is gone out another point here. Getting to be a great e.w price. Pat was 9/1 for both competitions on Rory for each competition when I phoned..
|
|
By:
Problem with Rory if you are against him is he normally starts well so his price collapses, he is the only player i back to lay, which will probably be my strategy this week with a lay put in around evens as a targer fot 50% profit of the outright

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Carl Pettersson who was second in 2012 and has been showing some decent form lately. I'm on at 125/1 EW and the 110/1 still available looks decent.
