also i thought the default setting in most spreadsheets were to update auto at regular intervals, if not i suggest you turn on autosaves.

Yep, sounds like bad pc management Quincy. Backup everyday at least onto a seperate disc and as meng says, turn on your autosave also.

Thank you for those few kind words, Ski.  One reason is because I have so many computers running at the same time, and another reason is that I'm trying to do too much.  Tried all morning to get on Thomas Bell in the 4.00 Worcester.  Got a bit at 8.2, some at 7.8. Now 7.00 to lay.  A whole 13k matched on the race, (6.5k in real terms).  Betfair is fast becoming a waste of time.

Mengmeng,
have autosave on Word, (which I rarely use), as I prefer Pagemaker.  Never managed to turn on autosave on Excel.

To activate the AutoSave feature, follow these steps:

On the Tools menu, click Add-Ins.
In the Add-Ins dialog box, select the AutoSave Add-in check box, and then click OK.

Is it not good to see people helping out others here on the golf forum and not bickering like the soccer mob. Fair play to all concerned. Just waiting for 3pm and golf from Portugal. I tried to back Shane Lowry in a 3 ball bet overnight and to my surprise it was never matched. Will wait now and see what is actually happening on course. -6 seems to be leading if we can believe the espn scoreboard. I would put a red flag over this service and indeed advise anybody having a bet to ignore that particular scoreboard altogether while golf is in play.

What the hell are you operating at your 'secret base'? 1 good modern computer is enough. Unless i'm missing a trick.

Excel autosave should be on automatically when you install the software. If you go into preference/option and look for autosave/backup, it will show you where the saved file are placed on your hard drive. Then open that folder......you might get all your 'lost' files back.

I'm a beginner, Ski.  My friend has 4 laptops, 1 tablet, 12 TVs, 3 recorders all on at the same time.  One laptop on B**daq for watching the racing which is free and 2-3 seconds in front of Sky on most races, and about 5 seconds in front of ATR.  Recorders for photo-finishes.

Noticed my computer was doing  updates (microsoft) this morning --in the background .  Took a long time , wonder what that was about . They screwed up my PC some years ago with some dopey update which they were never able to explain ( Indian phone calls , spent most of time talking cricket ) .  A friend cleared everything out , re loaded everything , and it has worked well since .  But no explanation  , just 3 weeks slow frustration till it was fixed properly .

Correct.....you can view the updates history and had mine updated except for explorer as i don't use it. Maybe that be the issue if anyone updated explorer.

Thanks for advice lads , but mine is working OK as normal so I dont care what they do update and security wise . Just wondered why the updates took so long , normally they only last about 5 minutes even when you have been away for a month or so . Cheers .

Have 6 players with a handy green. Otherwise the filed costs me €75ish unless I get stuck in again. Have a nice free bet on Ishikawa in Frys. Backed at 69 and laid 2/3s of it at 60.

Sorry, for a second there I thought this was the Samaritans....

Anywhoo, with the plump Shane having bottled it again, the bold Bernd looks to be in complete command here, and I fully expect him to surge into an unassailable lead, circumstances permitting, as the case may be. Cool
