Terribly late......i was thinking that there must be no Euro event this week...

Wee tip just off the top of me bonce.
Danny Willet. But for an unlucky 8, at a par 4 last week, when -2, he would have been right in there at Wales. Get on. Get on early. Stay on. ![]() |
|
By:
Pods back this week, I would think the layers had a sleepless nite trying to price him up in this

Took some early prices on Da Silva in this, although course form and form on venues with clear links will probably provide the winner and will fill the previews this week.
Da Silva might not have the mental strength for this but matches up well as a superb tee to green player. Not much wrong with his around the green play either and his length off the tee is not a factor here. Was bang there at East London before having a bad round and has been playing very well at a lower level on the Sunshine Tour recently. |
|
By:
I'll forgive Mig his off week last week as he plays so well round this unique set up. Have added Rumford as a back up.
|
|
By:
Was Willet not carrying a small injury the week previous, he is probaably ok now but could still be a little risky?
|
|
By:
Danny is always going to be risky.
I didn't back him last week, just thought he was playing well at -2, until the +4 horror. That knocked the stuffing out of him. Have had a wee piece of Joost at 23 and Gonzo at 36. Small nibble at my boy Danny at 80s.....if he goes longer I will nibble again. SSP could be a lively outsider. This is an absolutely beautiful course, and I am looking forward to watching it immensely. |
|
By:
Hugely skilled, just a little too hyper for my liking. I know he has got the job done before but his fast twitch fibres make me nervous on a Sunday...
|
|
By:
Just saw Mig's course form here, and wow... in his last 10 goes he's had 4 top 5s including a win, 6 top 10s and 8 finishes in the top 13. Ticks enough boxes for me.

Always enjoy watching this event and welcoming with being without the regular fix from stateside this week.

Two i like at the prices..
Anders Hansen and Miko Illonen. |

By:
Marcus Fraser has had mixed fortunes round here, but 2nd place last year, and 15th in 2011, tells me that 100/1 E/W is a decent price.
Alejandro Canizares. 175/1 E/W and 320s on here. Missed cut last time, but a top ten in 2011. Max Kieffer. 350/1 E/W. Unlikely, but a big price. There have been quite a few changes to the golf course over the past year, so not quite sure what to expect. A couple of orders up on here hoping to be filled. I'm fortunate to have played this course, and it really is a stunner. Take a triple bogey on the chin, and stand back to admire the view. Good luck. |
|
By:
Added Hennie Otto @ 420.
His record here is pretty shocking, to be honest, but worth a punt at that price, IMO. Hits it straight, hits the greens, good scrambler, average putter. Au fait with playing at altitude. Can't see why he hasn't fared better here. I guess I'll find out tomorrow. |

No Brainer for me.
MIGUEL ANGEL JIMENEZ is 70 under par over the last 5 years around here. 26 is way too BIG imo. LA ![]() |
|
By:
The only 'no brainer' moi can see is the complete inability for some to overlook the guys who played well last week.
The vast majority of my selections are influenced by this. It's not rocket science, yet some go about their weekly selections in the most diverse, nay, perverse way. Anywhoo, these are my initial selections; J.Luiten @ 23. Gonzo @ 36. P.Uhlein @ 44. G.Bourdy @ 60. S.Kjeldson @ 75. M.Ilonen @ 75. D.Willett @ 80. T.Levet @ 260. T.Lewis @ 320. Espen Kofstad @ 400. Rikard Karlberg @ 410, and S.S.P. Chowrasia @ 1000. I do not gamble 'EW', as I consider this final insult, fit only for old women and dundering old f@rts. As for MAJ, whilst I have backed him here before, his performance last week was dismal, and, quite frankly, the 26 is an absolute joke. As ever, I wish my fellow combatants all the hairy chest with their picks, and safe home, if theirs happen to coincide with mine. ![]() |
|
By:
Us dundering old f@rts don't do too badly out of backing E/W, Heinz.
Last 4 weeks for me. Bart Bryant 40/1 E/W winner Jordan Spieth 40/1 E/W place Bryant and Spieth E/W double Tommy Fleetwood 80/1 E/W winner Graham DeLaet 175/1 E/W place Trevor Immelman 55/1 E/W winner Graham DeLaet 70/1 E/W place I would be considerably worse off if I hadn't gone E/W on these selections. Looks like the old women and dundering f@rts are slightly ahead of you, but never mind. |

Had a flyer on this one as i do not fancy the top 4(oops!)
Gallacher Uihlein(not a bombers course) De Silva De La Riva Soren Hansen Bourdy Anders Hansen Jose Manuel Lara |

Taken stake out of Canizares, and stuck some of it on Anthony Wall.
Wall has been out of action, injured for a while, but the price is decent enough, and I think it's significant that he chooses this tournament to make his return. |

just a little bit n ross fisher, not really one of mine but did back him a couple of weeks ago when he played ok but didn't hole his share of putts.

Jimenez. Obvious course form. He's playing his best golf this year. He had a hiccup last week but he's comfortable in Crans. He missed the cut in the event preceding Crans last year after good performances at the Open and the USPGA. Results this year have been eerily parallel.
Casey. Showing steady form after his win in Ireland with a couple of decent finishes in big events over the pond. He's had three top 10s here. Rumford. His current form of T6-T8 juxtaposed with an excellent swatch of results in the mountains (four top 25s - including a win - in his last six starts here) make him a must-back for me. Parry. Starting at the Scottish Open, he has gone T5-T23-T4, enough to suggest he's found a purple patch. Hopefully he stays with it this week. Fraser. Bumbled along this season with a couple of top 5s to his name. He's played well here recently; two top 15s in the last three years in a mixed bag of performances. He's not a strong fancy but evidently he has the game to play well here. Da Silva. Top of the class in GIR and driving accuracy on tour this year. He won recently on the Sunshine Tour. At 200s he's probably going to generate a good trading opportunity, even if he doesn't win. |
