Just put 400k on tiger .

Cabrera's had three top 5 finishes here in eight starts. 66/1 EW seems more than fair

Ryan Moore E/W @ 100/1 looks like a very nice bet to me. He has some decent form round here, and more importantly, is in pretty good current form.

Think now is the time for Jason Day to step up and win a big one. He'll do for me.

Agree with earlier poster
The WGC Bridgestone Invitational has been kind to me over the years - a couple of years ago I had a decent win with Adam Scott and I have also backed Mahan and Cink when they won but this week I have put all my outright eggs in one basket in the shape of Angel Cabrera. Basically the event suits those with Major credentials and the Argentinian fits that bill to a tee with a Masters and US Open title to his name and he very nearly grabbed a second green jacket earlier this season. He has actually been in good form all year long making cut after cut and he was even in contention for a long time in the Open last time out. His all round stats are great and far more consistent than usual this year so anyone would think looking at his price that his course form is poor. The answer is - anything but as in eight starts he has been 4th three times round Firestone - mostly in the years where he has generally been in good form. So at the 66/1 the place part of the price is simply huge in my eyes so I have gone 1 pt ew I did say he was my only bet but I think Bubba Watson is well worth a stab in the round one market. He has played in seven strokeplay WGC events and after the opening rounds has been 1st and 3rd here, 3rd in the HSBC Champions and was 1st in the last one - the Cadillac Championship earlier this year so is well worth a small punt - 0.2 ew first round leader 50/1 |

I think Westwoods price jumps out. Gone very close here in the past and obviously in form.
By:
Westwood 34 to back here, 26 to lay for the PGA. Very odd.
By:
Will never understand why Day is so short for these strength in depth contests. What entitles him to be half the price of G Mac, a proven winner, is fuc*in baffling. If anyone offered me evens on G Mac winning a WGC or major before Day, i would bite their hand off. I reckon if Day was leading a major through 54 holes, he be wearing one of Westwoods nappies on the Sunday. 16-1 combined on either to win this week,......good luck to anyone who considers that value. You will need plenty of it.
By:
Very odd that he is 26 to lay for PGA
. Should be that with a two shot lead on Sunday!! |
By:
You might be right in terms of probability of winning, but as back to lays both Day and Lee make total sense.
By:
yep Lee always seems to trade lower than5's in majors, well worth a trade if you are in to that sort of thing

Two words, Jim Furyk

. not after the open deplasterer |
By:
Straight hitter hearts, price is ok too, never wins too often though. Tiger v probaly wins but not my sort of price.
By:
that's why I backed him at the open deplasterer, not to be, dunno whats wrong with him this year? I noticed he has moved to callaway maybe he is still getting used to his new clubs? fook knows!
By:
First signs of form last week hearts, never wins to often though, but Ye never know. Snedeker should be backed again, some player, but really short this week.

With you Deplast on Furyk, loves this joint. Right up his alley. Backed at 70s and a bit 75s, stake back at 55s. Traded Moli as well and have backed Westwood, very unusual bet for me, I don't ever remember backing him pre off but I think he's great value trading wise this week, a surprisingly very good Firestone record. Mahan's WD should impact prices a bit, time to get is now.
By:
yeah should get on with removing Mahan from the market. Starting to skew the prices now
By:
His withdrawl is almost priced in now as the book is 103 - 97 % without him.
A normal situation at this time would be closer to 104 - 98 %, so still a little to go on. |
By:
Going in with a team of three.. Coffers brimming after Sneds, and Mrs Mahan obliged last week.
Ryan Moore 100/1 E/W Billy Horschel 80/1 E/W, and 140s on here. Kevin Streelman 175/1 E/W, and 310s on here May add a couple more before the off. good luck. |

By:
Just the 3 for me.
Bill Haas @ 85 Paul Casey @ 120 Boo Weekey @ 260 G l all. |

My picks for this week are:
Stenson Cabrera Zach Johnson Jason Day Horschel Snedeker All bang in form and decent prices. Backed e/w with Paddy Power who are paying 5 places. Stake back if Tiger or Phil win and your man comes second. Good luck all |
By:
my magic 3 all e/w-
webb simpson bo van pelt charl schwartzel gl cant wait! |
By:
kenny, just making sure you are aware that it is prob only the first bet you struck with paddy power that qualifies as the 2nd to tiger/phil refund. NOT ALL bets.
in my experience that's how betting firms work. i could be wrong but who was the first bet you struck with paddy anyways out of curiosity? stenson? |
By:
Applies to single bets placed on the tournament outright before the start.
Applies to win only or win part of an each way bet If 2nd place is tied then refund will apply to all golfers tied 2nd. Max Refund E100/£100. Paddy Power Golf rules apply. hmm, this doesnt really clarify if its first bet or ALL bets. |

By:
Mcdowell's price is absurd, 85's for a 3 time winner already this year. Yes, his form has been feast or famine but his price is huge.
By:
IFLM, G Mac price is completely wrong. An insult.
By:
Looks like my picks are on their own this week....
Gone for those with decent previous &/or high in the total driving stats Kuchar Stricker Stenson Furyk Moore Watney |
By:
The fact that G Mac is a full 37 points bigger than his PGA price, does seem a bit strange.

Usually I look for a reasonably priced favourite to lay in running. Backing winners in golf is no easy task. But I was up early walking the 4 legged female in my life. We headed down into town and bought any newspaper that was offering a bookmaker promotion on The Galway Races. Home then to study up and made a lot of use of oddschecker. Have laid Torenago and it continues to drift. Bolger IS confident. Somewhere along the line I saw Steve Palmer recommend Cabrera for this. Price looks ok but rather than go e.w. I think a little win and a little top 10 finish is better strategy. He is so naturally gifted and has lovely soft hands for such a big man. If Tiger is starting at 5.00ish what price will he be if he gets his first birdie before dropping any shot. Pure madness to take his starting price. If he is playing well and not scoring, that is the time to go in on him. I must have a small saver on Sneds after he did me an enormous favour last week. Come to think of it, Mickleson did the exact same for me the week before. Enough of my ramblings. Best of luck to everybody , especially those still fighting away for points at the top. It is time to start looking for some sponsorship for next year. If anybody hits it big in the next couple of weeks they might contact the committee.

Given the first part, I wish you very well on the second

Great two weeks of Golf approaching. I'll go into Firestone with:
Haas 70 Van Pelt 120 Grace 170 Manassero 250 |
By:
I'm with you on Manny verb. 250s is too good for me to pass up.
I was really impressed with Daniel Popovic when he won the Oz PGA late last year. The field was by no means great but he showed no nerves over the weekend and cruised to a four-shot win. I very much doubt he can win this, but I'll be cheering for him to have a big week ![]() |

Backers can't get enough of Scott this week. I can see why given his recent form, particularly in majors, but 15s is too short for me.
