Got some matched at 3.7 on Wagner. Now looking a little better Wagner - €350.90 and the field @ + €295.30.

Ski....do you see what has happened again this week. The European Tour event has significantly bigger turnover here than the PGA Tour event for the 2nd week in a row.

Yeah just checked that one out. I didn't do much in the PGA until today as i didn't like the tournament and the golfers, as felt it was open to anyone to win and unpredictable. Guess what, it isLaughLaugh.

Started today so got some small greens and a few reds.....should get rid of the reds one by tomorrow.

The Euro tour has better players than the PGA this week. Being in France does help more than being in China or Bulgaria or Morrocco.

most of the money layed at 1000 would be from people making a book i assume so it probably isnt that bad for them, nice for the ones who might have just backed it tho.

I'm sure it's pretty bad though meng, laying a 1000 winner could never be a good thing. You would hope they laid the pants of Every, Simpson etc. and that they didn't go deeper by laying Wagner more in running to reduce the bail out price. Might see some interesting plays for him in the final round.

i have dabbled in it before and was laying lots to a certain liability including the 1000 to 1 shots and it never seemed too bad as it got covered eventually, obviously you would want to carry on trading and managing the book throughout, my main point was it obviously isnt ideal lol, but it isnt normally as bad as someone just taking on a £2000 liability to win £2 which is what most people seem to naturally assume on first look.

too much for my mind tho so i decided to stick to backing the odd golfer and keeping it simple and thats where i am now

How many players would you lay to cover?
By:
mengmeng
When: 07 Jul 13 02:52
well i know it sounds like nothing but say you was laying to 20k liability, i know thats only £20 on him and doesnt seem worth it,but a few lays of 20/1 and 30/1 players and you could be starting with less than a £15k liability after laying them for £20k probably less. Then you would have quite alot of players green for 5k which to lay or back in play and also that green to get you covered if a big liability player is doing really well.

its easily coverable if you keep on top of it in my opinion.

i hope some of that made some sense..... im not trying to say i know more than you do just giving my opinion how i see it and how it worked for me.

Interesting stuff meng. Never tried my hand at it.
By:

When: 07 Jul 13 03:49
sounds silly now because it never occured to be but it is so obvious, when i was laying players for say 20k, as you lay more for that amount obviously the total liability keeps going down so after you have layed 30 or so players for that amount the actual liability you are left with could only be 10k plus you are 10k green on the rest of the field so you could be evens on the remaining 100 or so players to win..... it changes after the cut ofcourse depending on who makes it ect but it took me a while to get my head around and also how i didnt realise how it worked lol

Do you remember what happened last year in this tournament?
Webb Simpson victory looked like printing money before the final round, he was @1.72 to win with a similar lead as Wagner's.
He didnt even make the top10 Crazy

Golf is one of the most difficult sports to bet on.

Wagner is a funny one. A dud most weeks, but has 3 wins to his name which trumps quite a few players. Another Mark Wilson. Interestingly the birth of the stache was followed soon by the win in Honolulu, now a win on the back of it's demise perhaps. Do not underestimate the power of the stache Cool

After last night, I might give up betting.  At 5.15 I was in trouble, was on Hoffman, Chappell and Davis among others.  Backed Chappell at 42, Davis at 65 and 60. Didn't press Hoffman.  Between 5.15 and 6.31, laid Chappell at 26, 22 and 14, laid Hoffman @ 24.

The picture was then Graeme DeLaet +341.52, Kevin Chappell +1291.32, Gary Woodland +469.32, Scott Stallings +519.32, Morgan Hoffman +706.32, Brian Davis +4595.52, Ryan Palmer +501.32, Chad Campbell +1169.72, the Field -58.68.

Power cut.  Went looking for my I pad, couldn't find it.  Found the I pad just as the power came back on at 7.20.

All my winners dropped like stones, my one horse bet of the day was slowly away and finished tailed off.

And now my mobile phone as gone dead.CryCryCryCry

Might back Speith later or lay the front two.  Good luck with yours.

Pretty gutted about how this tournament has gone thus far.

I know this will sound like aftertiming or bull or w/e, but the one bet I was leaning toward was ten on Wagner at 1000/1. Don't bet a lot on golf and like to throw a few bucks here and there on extreme long shots hoping to win the lottery.

Now not sure if I should throw a large sum on him to try to get something out of him or stay away and hope he falls apart.

Holy mother. Have a look at that trousers. I might use something like that to keep the pigeons off the cabbage. Best of luck everybody. Has anybody backed this leader at long odds ?

FFS, this was perfectly obvious from the forecast from yesterday, having leaders off at 2pm with a full afternoon of storms forecast is amateur stuff, what do they pay their meteorologist for?  Could have been done or nearly done by now.

There's about four and a half hours of play left.  I doubt they'll be back out in an hour, though.  Sunset is about 2am our time, then we're into Monday.
