Tee times released - Tiger, Rory and Adam paired together first 2 days. Did the same with the top 3 ranked in 2008. Not a fan of the idea, we don't need a Tiger/Stevie sideshow at the US Open. Luke, Lee and Kaymer another interesting group.

much better news weather

looks misty thurs,no rain
fri,sat,sun sunshine
[/b]

Not sure where you're getting your forecast from Xmoney as everything i'm looking at for tomorrow is grim!

Looking at both tomorrow's & Fri's forecast I can see either the early starters or late starters from tomorrows T times getting a big break. Reason being that Fri's forecast looks really windy, 20mph + in morning before dying down in the afternoon. This could mean that if they get lucky enough with the weather tomorrow that the morning starters at least get through their first round they'll get better conditions tomorrow & again PM Fri after tomorrow's PM starters got clobbered Fri morning in the wind! Equally if they get next to nothing done tomorrow those who would have played AM tomorrow end up getting clobbered Fri morning.

Which ever way it pans out wouldn't be surprised to see a leaderboard stacked up from one half of the draw after one or even two rounds like in Oostie's open. Unless off course the forecast is b.....ks & the sun shines!...

Not really sure what the course and weather will have in store this week but with it being a major week,it would be wrong not to have a few bets.Gone with the following 4 players:

Bill Haas - Was in great form earlier in the season before losing his form around the time of The Players/Wells Fargo possibly due to the birth of his first child.Back in form with a good showing at Memorial,a tournament he has never traditionally played well in,which I think bodes well for a good showing here.80s each way with the bookies,i was happy to take that.

Hunter Mahan - Was in a desperate run of form but his last 3 efforts have seen him gradually start to return to the form he's capable of.A generally solid player,i'm hoping this weeks test might just play to his strengths. Was a very fair price on here at 100s I thought.

Billy Horschel - A model of consistency all season and I like the way he finished off last weeks event with 3 very good rounds.Reasonably long, hits fairway**** greens and can putt as well. That will have you contending most weeks but hopefully more so this week.Another who was very fairly priced on here at 100s.

Scott Piercy - Never thought i'd see myself betting him in a US Open but a player who's really come on in the last year or so.Want to have one 'bomber' on my team due to the wet conditions and he fits the bill.Another who started the season well, fell away and now seems to be back in the groove again.Ranked 2nd for GIR at the Byron Nelson and 8th for GIR in his last outing at The Memorial.Has also won in the state of Pennsylvania for what it's worth, granted that it was a Web.com event back in 2008.Took the 200s e/w with Joe C.

Best of luck if you're having a bet and here's hoping the weather doesn't spoil what could be a great event.

Very wise words!!!

This is a LOTTERY!!!!!!

Any professional golfer, who is in any form whatsoever who gets lucky with a break in the weather, and the roll of the ball,  will be able to put up a good score here.  To back the favourites here, where just an hour of blustery conditions can destroy a scorecard, is a very risky strategy in my opinion.
Report frankalsoran60 June 13, 2013 10:44 AM BST
ARDMORE, Pa. -- Old man par is often the winner at the U.S. Open, but this week at Merion Golf Club it could be Mother Nature.

With more than 6 inches of rain having already fallen in the area over the past six days and heavy rain and thunderstorms in Thursday’s forecast, players will be challenged by more than narrow fairways, thick rough and the unfamiliarity of a golf course that is hosting its first major championship in more than 30 years.
Who will win this year’s national championship? Make that Mudder Nature.
“I’m hoping a mud ball doesn’t decide the tournament,” said 2010 winner Graeme McDowell.
He was hardly the only player to share that sentiment. But with lift, clean and place not in effect, “mud balls” is a phrase fans and players will be well familiar with by the end of the week.
“We've got to deal with it even though we're not going to be happy about it,” said Steve Stricker, who also had his own theory of why they could be so prevalent this week.
In short, today’s golf balls spin less and spin is what helps take mud off the ball once it’s hit.
“Yeah, it could decide who the champion is here this week, unfortunately,” he added.
While the U.S. Open is the most democratic of tournaments because anyone with a game good enough can play in it, the 113th edition will be more open than usual given the soft conditions and unpredictability of balls hit with mud on them.
There are 156 players in the field at Merion and all of them might have a chance this week.
“I think it makes the course a little bit easier,” Luke Donald said. “It doesn't play quite as tough.
And I think as a top player you want the place to play as tough as it possibly can.”
In other words, the better the player, the more likely he is to be rewarded by a firm, fast layout.
But without lift, clean and place in play and a soaked and saturated golf course, the term “level playing field” takes on a whole new meaning in McDowell’s eyes.
“I'm kind of split on the issue of ball in hand, lift, clean and place. I think there's a need for it at times,” he said. “I think mud balls are a problem. I think they're unfair.
“It is an element of chance as to how your ball pitches in the fairway, does it pitch in the upslope, does it pitch in the downslope, are you a low ball hitter or a high ball hitter, how much mud is your ball going it to pick up? If it's a long shot it literally can cost you shots. So it's unfair.”
To borrow from a phrase often used by Woods, though, it is what it is.

I am surprised we didn't see a lower score. The course is great, very interesting, trouble everywhere, but very playable. It did not look that hard, you would have thought somebody would have hit those fairways.

I thought Webb-Simpson looks in great form and a huge danger, could/should have been a couple better. Mickelson had some miracle escapes and possibly one of the greatest bunker shots I have ever seen. Tiger was awful and looks injured. Rory still in it and a little unlucky finding divot marks on two consecutive holes. Donald is the interesting one, if he is ever going to win then this course must represent his best chance.

Webb-Simpson and Donald from here.

Any word on Tigers injury ?  Looked like a mild "arm " strain playing out of tough rough , but he was flexing his neck and shoulders as he walked , something bothering him slightly . Not looking like someone in the zone so far , would hate to have taken short odds about him .
