Just over a week to go until the best day on the sporting calendar, Masters Sunday. Post your thoughts, fancies, roughies and anything else you like. Can anyone tame the Tiger? One who might, and whose odds are screaming at me right now, is Justin Rose. Contending every week in the US this year with a couple of near misses early on in the middle east, a win seems imminent. A magnificent Augusta record jumps off the page and the juicy price of 24 is more than enough to entice. If an Englishman is going to win a major anytime soon it will be him.

As a long shot, son of a gun Bill Haas is ripe. 6 top 10s in his last 8 starts and making his 4th Augusta appearance, it his his time to make a statement. Just hope he's 2 back rather than 2 ahead going into Sunday or it's curtains, not a fan of the 54 hole lead is he.

Stock your fridges, kick the Mrs out and pump the feck up for Augusta has arrived.

Traded Bradley, Stricker, Furyk, Petterssen, GMac, Laird (thanks maggot, top shout last week) stakes back on all bar Laird took profit out of him. Backed Rose, Moore a while back (taken unders will let ride) and backed Haas and Snedeker heavily hoping for stakes back before the off. Sned appears it may go the wrong way at least in the short term so have to make a decision there, but how high can he seriously go?

More than happy to give up 10pts to take woods out of the equation.

Pinched of pgatour. 60 seems more than fair.

Three top 10s in five starts this season; had just four in 16 starts in all of 2012. Ranks 12th in strokes gained-putting, ninth in adjusted scoring and first in scrambling. Top 20s at the Masters in 2009 and 2012.

Masters don't go for as long Craig, field of 94, Open has 150 or so and plenty of the 94 are ceremonial, no chance of winning and you'll only see a highlight if they do something nice or you'll see them tap in on the last for nostalgic purposes, it is a unique tournament in that aspect. Best golf event from a betting perspective as you get Major prices when really it's pretty much the equivalent of a WGC event in terms of the depth in talent.

Tiger for me folks.

I know it is unoriginal but he looks in control and his putting of late has been extraordinary.

The big thing for me is that he has managed to eliminate the left side of the golf course again which means he knows where he is going to miss if he puts a bad swing on it - from a golfers point of view, thats worth its weight in gold. Add the short game into the mix and, for me, 5-1 (Average price ive backed him at) is massive. Starting to get his aura back too so fingers crossed. If he wins, Im going to the first miami nba playoff game after the masters!!

Good luck all.

Topped up on Lucas Glover.

Can't believe his price.

OK, he doesn't have a great record round here, and hasn't been in the best of form, but he is more than capable.

He hits it long, with a natural draw, and if it does get as windy as some say, then maybe that will be to his advantage, as he hits it low.

An unlikely winner, but I'll take my chances at this price. Price too big.

New cut rule this year guys !!!!

This is from PGAtour.com :

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Expect more players to reach the weekend at the Masters.

A new cut rule announced Wednesday by Masters chairman Billy Payne will allow all players in the top 50 (and ties) on the leaderboard to make the 36-hole cut. The rule goes into effect this week.

Since 1962, the Masters cut included just the low 44 players and ties (from 1957-61, the cut was 40 players plus ties).

"Now, more than 50 years later, we believe offering more playing opportunites for the participants over the weekend is a positive for everyone involved -- for the world's best players wishing to compete over four rounds; for our patrons enjoying the tournament here on site; and for those golf fans watching at home through our expansive worldwide television broadcast and our continually improving online digital platforms."

The cut rule that any player within 10 strokes of the leader makes the cut remains in effect.

The most players to make the Masters cut was 64 in 1966. The fewest is 44, which has happened on three occasions (2004 being the last time).

A field of 93 players will tee off in Thursday's first round.

I think Richard Sterne will play well (200e/w outright 150e/w w/out Woods and 16s top Saffer).
A 6 time Euro winner who has come back from serious injury and is in in great form-played well when making cut pre-injury in 2008.

I also fancy Angel Cabrera to play well this week (125e/w outright)

I have ended up with a red of €60 on Tiger from some unfortunate trading. And have him backed for a few weeks on Sportsbook when they were 1st to go 4/1. Will have to see that bet out for a round at least. I have a sneaky feeling G. Mc might be in the hunt at some stage and he may be a back to lay opportunity for small money. tiger for me folks

too solid me thinks, too many of the other main protagonists just not playing well enough at present and outsiders so rarely win this great event as its such an all round test.

good luck to all opposing tiger however if he shoots sub 71 tomorrow, i expect this to be over by saturday night (from a betting perspective)

charles schwartzel, angel cabrera, price around 66/1, and trevor immellman.........winners in the last 5 years.

Are you sure no outsiders ever win this?

The w/o woods market compared to the normal winners market is interesting. I just laid off Els at 150 when i had backed previously at 180 on the outright, then re-backed him at 150 on the w/o Woods.
