Another big one this week. Already pulled the trigger on Charl, had him lined up for this for a while taken 22s, don't think we'll get much more with his form and a T4 and a 2nd in the last 3 years. Also taken the son of a gun, Billy boy Haas at 85s and 80s, T9, T6 and T3 in his last 3 stroke play events and well rested with the week off. Plenty of water again as is the way in Florida so many splashes forecast again this week.

€163 laying Tiger @ 2.08. Liability €176.24. I think the odds do not reflect the chances of a player who is maybe 1 shot ahead of a very good field. And no guarantee he can keep playing and getting so many birdies. He has holed nearly everything. Thought Rose might have a crack at it but he has imploded. Plenty others and we are only half way.

Report Quincy March 8, 2013 10:56 PM GMT
Ski, been asleep in the armchair after a long at Crufts.  Only expected more because Tiger was leadly.  It's only 1.7m now, just seems a far cry from the old days.
Did lay some Tiger @ 4.4. I've had the needle since yesterday because I forgot to back McDowell.  Did move a bit more Tiger @ 3.2 onto McDowell @ 15.5.  Not a good move at the time, but it's OK now. Stake back out of McDowell and greened it all up. Got three or four lurkers just off the pace.  It's what to do with Tiger now, my mind says I ought to lay more and have him my worst winner.
Report Kelly March 8, 2013 10:57 PM GMT
Impressive from Tiger .  Going to be hard to shift by the looks of things .

What breed of dogs interest you , Quincy ?
Report Quincy March 8, 2013 11:06 PM GMT
Keeshonds. My wife was in the breed for over 60 years. Can only claim 40 years.  First year not had an entry at Cruft's since 1986. Today's claim to fame is that I was asked to put a necktie on the Best of Breed winner.
Report Quincy March 8, 2013 11:13 PM GMT
Necktie on the handler, not the dog, by the way.
Report Kelly March 8, 2013 11:14 PM GMT
Not familiar with them , Quincy . Cant say I have seen too many this part of the world . Well done on the necktie .  When do they announce the winners of the breeds  ? We usually watch some coverage on TV , but haven't seen any so far .  Must consult the schedules !

Any greyhounds Kelly ?
Report Kelly March 9, 2013 2:29 AM GMT
No tober , my father used to have a lot way back in the forties , but I was only interested in backing dogs , not owning them . Spent a good while visiting those dogs when I was young , used to go every Sunday down to Mick Horans to see the dogs , and travel down to Tipp to pick up  new dogs .  Long time ago though .

Have spent a lot of time at Celtic , Dunmore , Shelbourne , and Tralee in my time .

Will check that out , Quincy .  Looked them up , must need a lot of grooming !

Toberanna, might be over in Ireland for the dog show circuit later this year, if I can make arrangements for the three geriatrics I have at home.
Just for the stunning, at least talking about dogs has got half a page of posts on here.
Have decided to make Tiger my worst winner.  Should give me more scope for trading tonight.

Good point QuincyWink

So who is the jolly in the Bernese Mountain Dog market??
Report Kelly March 9, 2013 11:00 AM GMT
Apologies to the golfers in our midst , thread took a different turn late last night after Tiger blew the field ( and prospects for a lot ) away . Bit of wind might concertina field again .

Tober , not sure where we were going in Tipp , I was very young at the time , might not even have been at school ( didn't go to primary school until I was 6 , and I was out of it by age 10 ) . Still meet Mick's son occasionally ( Mick trained Mick the Miller  by the way to his first English Derby success ) , he might remember although he is younger than me .

Quincy , sounds like you have a good book on the Cadillac , and Tigers price now assures you of good opportunity for green ups if you choose . Have a good trip anyway whatever the outcome this time . Cheers .
Report Kelly March 9, 2013 11:13 AM GMT
Just to finish it up , Tober , only recollection re my fathers dogs was a leaning towards the "Tanist " line at that time . If that is a clue , so be it . My mother might also have some recollection , still on the ball in her nineties , but she was not into dogs ( except spending any  associated profit ) , so unlikely , and my father never kept any cuttings etc , and both our premier tracks --Celtic and Dunmore --went to the wall years ago .

There was a publication a few years back about the Irish greyhound scene  , my brother bought it for me , but I lent it to him and have not got it back yet .  Mind you , two of my fathers mates won English Greyhound Derbys back then and that book had no write up on them , sad ommission , poor research . Crebilly men  , coursing lines I suspect .  Cheers .
Report Quincy March 9, 2013 11:45 AM GMT
the stunning, I'm not saying the judging is suspect, but it would probably depend on who is on the other end of the lead.  Just had a look at the Best in Show market on here, total matched £0.00, available to back 7 for £10.00 @ 1.01.  And we worry about liquidity!!!!
Report Kelly March 9, 2013 12:44 PM GMT
Liquidity on here is getting worse , especially in running .  Guess its down to the fast pics/ scalpers activity . Thought there might have been some activity on the 2nd round leader market with all the good scoring , buttons on the market ( on either side ) . Laid Gmac myself for small , backed Tiger 1.01 , huge profit ( not ) . Think I was about 30% of the total market .

Since the lads migrated the only time there are decent markets are overnight and the majors . Rest of the time you would be scratching yourself most of the night looking for accomodation or value . And the European market is normally useless outside of Sundays . Cant see any reversal though with current criteria in vogue .
Report the stunning March 9, 2013 12:46 PM GMT
Wonder will the liquidity grow at some stage,or is it just a dead market quincy?

WGC events always have bigger turnover than other events, and tournaments where Tiger leads have big turnover too. I don't bet in play so the figures I have are for before the tournament starts.
