Makes some of Rorys earlier sponsorship/ deals ( which appeared good at the time ) look like beer money . The downside to these figures is that you dont have to win anything to keep the home fires burning . Then it becomes a case of personal ambition and fulfilment .  Just hope Rory ignores the money , fame , hype etc and continues to do what he is best at , ... playing golf . There was a clip of him tonight on local TV ( wind up of analogue ) as a 9 year old on one of our local chat shows  , chipping balls  in the studio into an open washing machine ( front loader , he was not tall enough to be doing same into a top loader ).

The talent has always been there , and 14 years later he has the golfing world at his feet . OK as long as his feet stay groundside , trust they will . But living essentially away from his roots ( as he will be fulltime shortly ) there will be lots more distractions than he encountered in his life to date . Hope golf remains his top priority ( with my golf hat on ) .

Denno got fully kitted out with the new Nike logo shirts in Perth courtesy of his son who is with Nike:-)

Incidently, Tommy Fleetwood signed with Nike when he was only 13 years old...wonder what took them so long to sign Rory:-)

Thats a lot of money. I started a thread a while ago seeking some advice for a youngster with some natural talent starting out on golf and one reply questioned just how much talent golfers have compared to other sports people. I think i agree.

Tiger Woods and Rory Mc Ilroy undoubtedly had natural talent but without parental fathers who pushed them so much would they ever have made it to where they were. When you compare golf to say football there is only a very small pool of young players who have the acccess to golf to fulfill their natural talent.

It could be reasonably argued there are hundreds of potential TIger Woods and Rory McIlroys who have never picked up a golf club.

Massive money!!!! find it funny now how his accountant had advised him to sell his house for around £3m due to financial reasons

Have a look at these 2 videos and look at what clothing Rory is wearing in them Wink

Perfect timing for him...........move to USA...........£191 million.........no tax to NI government which they badly need.

Da Fallon , dont think the house value really enters into it . Its more to do with where you live for tax reasons .  Cant say I blame anyone for skipping , 40% is too much when you are not availing of any facilities or lifestyle associated with the country charging you that for the privilege of nothing but citizenship . Most of Rorys support up to the age of 18 or so came from the Golfing Union of Ireland ( an island organisation rather than a UK interest) and a well known golf company ,then Chubby / Darren and co , UK government input zero . And his parents double jobbed . Rory got a decent education OK in Sullivan in so far as he was interested in school when his " passport" said golfer from an early age .

Next thing the government will expect  you to represent them for nothing at the Olympics .

Just joining Luke and Paul and Justin and Lee and Graeme in the flight to USA .  Better weather there too . And when you can compete with the natives  in their own comfort zone  in their own country ....why not !

Rory has trod a profitable path from sponsorship etc down the years , first I heard about was when his initial contact( not contract ) with Titleist representatives ( unofficial I suspect ) arose following his defeat of the son  of Gregs former friend and business associate  Wally about 12 years ago .

Since then and maintaining a close and profitable  relationship( for both parties let us not forget ) with Titleist ( among others ) through Darren and Chubby he has had a trouble free run .  With his move to Conor and co he has blossomed to World No 1 , and I suspect that Nike are now in the box seat with the 2 big draws in world golf apparently in their hip pocket --thats a lot of commercial and fiscal clout . This weeks WGC event suffered a lot in my opinion running without these 2 .

Whether its good for golf is problematic ( ref Jacks refusal of a million many years ago on the basis that "it would not be good for the game of golf " , a sentiment I totally applauded , measure of the man ).

Its the devil take the hindmost nowadays , applies to all walks of life . Cant blame Rory for sussing out commercial opportunities , he is box office and he may as well cash in while the going is good .  But with great power comes great responsibility , and Rory is still only 23 . Burn out comes in various guises  , just hope the lifestyle / adulation / media pressure / plus on course considerations do not affect him to the extent that his golf game suffers .  Watching brief here .

I wonder if he'll be endorsing the new cavity back driver from Nike

I think the clubs will be pretty easy to get used too and Nike make some really good top end equipment these days. The ball, however, will be a different kettle of fish.None of Nike's premium balls stand up to the pro v's so they may go down the route of white-washing a pro v1 and sticking a Nike logo on it,not that it's ever been done before you understandGrin
