I thought BBC were good today. Lay off them. You should try watching cycling on ITV4 where there is a break every 7 minutes and you miss everything.

Talking of Alliss, fawwon, he used to get unmerciful stick off the tour pros years ago, Nick Dildo in particular wasn't happy with him, most of them said he was too hard on them. And then of course there was that tirade from 'he who shall not be named' from the RP. That was about 10 years ago, plenty of bad feeling against Alliss, but lots of respect in other quarters. I've never met the man, but i've always liked him, even going back to when he was understudy to the great Henry Longhurst.

And i like Brown on the TV as well..

Been watching this on ESPN who are taking BBC pictures...I tuned in just as Tony Jacklin and Allis where talking about the lack of trains going past the course these days compared to back in the good old days!

Jacklin sounded rough!

I too have a lot total respect for Alliss, who remains both witty & perspicacious.

There has been a lot of talk this week about Jacklin in 1969 being the 1st British player to win since Max Faulkner 1951.
For what it's worth, Peter Alliss finished top 10 that year with a closing 67. So perhaps he may know a few things about the game.

And as for Henry Longhurst, his commentating "one liners" remain legendary, before mentioning any of his wonderfully absorbing essays on golf and more.

I could listen to Alliss all day. Head and shoulders above the rest.

He did a cracking speech when he was inducted into the world golf hall of fame.

Terribly boring commentators. Could cure insomnia. Coverage of US events is dire but their comms are top notch. Jim Nantz the consumate pro, Faldo the special comments and the others sort the comedy. Very funny speech. I still laugh at his observations on Tiger spitting and some miserable looking kid on a boat from years back.

A class act... he was 14lbs weight when he was born..the biggest baby born for many years in europe...when asked about this he said not a bad weight for a turkey as well.

I haven't got an issue with Alliss at all, but a number of his colleagues have to have a long hard look at themselves.

There were countless errors made in commentary today. Unnaceptable.

Wayne Grady does not have a clue as to who half the players are and cant remember how many shots a palyer has played.

Grady and Critchley commentating would be a bombscare.

Yes, Grady at the last there with Rose was an embarrasment but what are the producers doing about it as they had plenty of time to tell him the score off air.
