Rory and Westwood???? tut tut tut
By:
I must admit... Westwood missing the Wales, Irish, and Scottish, is a pretty poor effort IMO.

westwood is playing in mr wylies pro-am at close house today, sandy lyle also booked
loads of horse racing peeps and newcastle united players and staff. hope it doesnt rain too much scottish open, always a bit of a guess before a major, but backed jacobson and baddely i too expect low scoring, and therefore gone for a couple of decent putters interesting to see how stenson, kaymer and oosthuizen go famous last words but els looks short enough , is palmer napping him ? |
By:
Only 50 k matched so far.......blooming quiet
By:
Not been that wet in Inverness compared to the rest of the country thats for sure so reckon the course will be playing very fairly.
Lets hope we get 4 rounds this year. Colsaerts is the springer at the moment. |
By:
Agree Els looks short Donny, but to my untrained eye Pod, Colsaerts, F. Mol, Fisher and Paul Lawrie all look short too...
I'm a sucker for Siem, Cabrero-Bello and Manassero so they'll be part of my team for the week. Noone else jumps out at me currently. |
By:
Just one for me so far. Marcus Fraser.
By:
siem might be one for first round leader ???
By:
My two against the field are Jacobsen and Foster.
Freddie has finished 27th / 15th / 8th in his last 3 events and has a fine Open record, including 16th last year, proving he plays the links courses very well. Slight negative is he might be using this as a practise for next week, but worth the chance at 45/1 imo. Foster seems to be bang in form and followed Ireland with a battling performance in France. Doesnt look like he copes that well when knocking on the door on Sunday, but feel sure he can win soemthing soon. 80/1 seems decent enough. |
By:
Siem strikes me as that sort Donny - he's a bit boom or bust, though he's working on his consistency apparently.
By:
Have backed Siem in the last 4 or 5 tournies and gave up this week. Just didnt think he quite had the bottle to get over the line
![]() |
By:
they often get over the line in the end if they have the consistency to contend often enough
battle hardened i think .... jacobson was the same iirc |
By:
I hear ya Cant Catch Me. I'd seen enough of Siem to be impressed with his style (going for the win rather than second on the 72nd green at the BMW for example), but wasn't on last week.
Think I'm grabbing at smoke this week, but his form can't be faulted this year (four top-12s in six starts) so I'll take the chance. |
By:
** four top-12s in his last six starts that should read.
By:
slightly off topic ......when looking at the stats for putts this season, i was amazed to see s garcia is 7th on the tour this year .
By:
molinari for me
By:
Only doing 2 this week.
P.Harrington,cracking form gotta go close, on @19. K.Na. as above,having a good season in the usa,on @85. G.L ![]() |
By:
sergio averages about 29.5 putts on euro tour, which is fairly flat across his career
his putts per gir is about 1.75 over same period and is slightly lower this season at 1.72 his putting problems seem to occur when in contention, and of course his stats are based on a small number of events in the usa they are using the stat of strokes gained putting and he is +.5 on that and 18th his short putting stats are Putting from Inside 5' 97.92% 7th Putting from 5-10' 52.48% 135th Putting from 3-5' 91.55% 14th |

All I ever seem to watch is adverts about Betfair banging on about how better priced they are on golfers compared to the books, yet once again if I wanna back a 8/1 Fav out of 156 runners I have to use the firms to do so

Thomas Bjorn, surely got to come back to last year's form soon, not far away a few times this yr including last time
By:
Laid off my Fraser stake, and put it on Soren Kjeldsen @ 180.
By:
cheers donny, i am sure he will be of interest next week.......

Nice to see the following Cat 11 players make it into this weeks 'exclusive' field. Hope they can shake off the rust and make the most of the run out!

Barclays no longer sponsoring this events and still Phil Mickelson turns up.....10/10 for effort and loyalty to the event.
Francesco Molinari Nicolas Colsaerts Paul Lawrie Matteo Manassero Angel Cabrera Tom Lewis (anything over 200 IS a good price to back, normally around 150.) No lays/trade yet |
By:
fancy an outsider for this
r.j derksen d. lynn |
By:
gone for
simon dyson george coetzee thomas bjorn matteo mannassero gl all |
By:
Donald must be a solid bet in this field, outsiders Laird & Cabrero, A Hansen top ten finish.
By:
Del Moral
Boyd Whiteford (and several others including Kennie Ferry) backed, with a view to laying. |
By:
A bit confused with this, can't find a team that represent the right value.
Might have to leave either Colsaerts or Molinari out, could even leave both out, they're only about 12/1 coupled. Will probably make Manassero and Marc Warren biggest winners, excluding the 400/1 plus sneaks, of course. Good luck with yours. |
By:
as i recall last year the fairways were as wide as you like.
are they as generous this year? |
By:
Taken some Gary Boyd @ 350s.
Pretty good recent form, and he seemed very confident about his game last week. I'll take a chance on him at that price. Out early tomorrow with David Howell, and Kenny Ferrie. Two opposite ends of the scale when it comes to the proverbial "calming influence". |
By:
Howell must be a good bet at 140 playing out of his skin.

I love to watch links golf and Castle Stuart does look a good course and hopefully they will be blessed with better weather to showcase the course to better effect this year.
Paul McGinley was my first pick this week as he has shown a renaissance in his game this year although he faltered a bit last weekend. Last year he was 14th here but was 2nd in the all round stats so after a slow start he certainly seemed to enjoy the course 0.3 ew 80/1 (6 places) Marc Warren is also showing a great improvement in his game having qualified for his first Major - the US Open and indeed making the cut - it seems to have spurred him on. He is a good links player - he got his card for this year by finishing 5th in the Dunhill Links, was 4th at County Louth in 09 and at Kennemer and of course has won in his homeland before at Gleneagles. Last year he was bang out of form but opened with a 67 which included seven straight birdies so he can clearly play the course 0.3 ew 150/1 (6 places) Johan Edfors is obviously a past winner of this event on a very different course at Loch Lomond but he is certainly capable of playing links golf. To be honest there is not a lot going for Edfors but sometimes I get a feeling a player is going to have a good week - 0.2 ew 150/1 (6 places) Carlos del Moral was the one player who beat McGinley in the all round stats here last year and he was actually quite a good links player when he was a good amateur player. He has been in contention several times this year and really should have won in Madeira - hence the play in the different market - 0.1 win 200/1 + 0.2 ew top Continental Euro 60/1 |
By:
I got suckered into Stenson at 32s. I've been waiting for him to become elite for a while, but despite his talent he hasn't been able to do it yet. Here's hoping this is his week.
Also had a fiver on Jbe at 500s and Quesne at around 900s. They've both won this year and at those prices I'm happy to have a crack. Tempted to follow you on Marc Warren TMM, but he's a bit too short for me - I'm used to getting 500+. |
By:
two lawries, a mol and a thongchai.

Not a great lover of tourns pre majors as some guys are just trying to tune their game up so had a dabble on George Murray at silly odds...proved he is a links man with his performance in last years Dunhill....good golfer that we have yet to see the best of...it could be this weekend...
