We have seen it all before in the majors with everyone pointing the finger at Lee being a bottler, poor putter, blah, blah, blah.

I fancy him to break his major duck this weekend and 7/1 will do for me as a first bet on the golf for quite some time.

Also think Rory is short at 7/2 but we shall see

Long time Westwood-major backer. Long time loser. That's me. I'ev lost a couple of grand, thinking Westwood would win a major, and backing him to do so in the last two Masters and British Opens.

This year of course I chose to avoid him, and of course he starts playing well. My feelings for Lee Westwood can be described as murderous. This man came into last years Masters and changed his putter that week. No elaboration needed on that. He needs to ditch his caddy, who is a smart-ass and doesn't provide any help whatsoever on the golf course apart from cracking jokes, and there is a time and a place for that and it isn't whilst playing professional golf.

Westwood has had and blown so many chances, mainly through sometimes ridiculous chip shots and missing straightforward putts, such as on the 18th green during round 2. That final hole yesterday summed him up: can hold every chance, but doesn't have what it takes to hold composure and win a Major.

I've lost enough money on him to advise anyone, do not back him to win a major, he simply isn't good enough, not to win the Masters this week anyway.

My only bet is on Matt Kuchar.

He is a fine player - possibly the best there is from tee to green - he is not a bottler at all but simply an ordinary putter and cannot chip to save his life .....

The reason he shot 67 in Round 1 was because his long game was nothing short of magnificent - hitting 16/18 greens meant he kept chipping to a minimum and many of his putts were 12 feet and under .....

If he duffs a chip or misses a putt it is NOT because he bottles it - he simply finds that part of the game difficult ....

To win this weekend his long game will have to be terrific - I, for one, wish him well ....

Won't be happening for Lee John I'm afraid....

Most of the players yesterday put themselves in trouble on numerous holes by going wayward off the tee. Westwood however didn't, but he did manage to make trouble for himself on 18 with a massive unforced error.

Will see today if he can keep his good play up, or will he screw up one or two holes early in the round and blow his chances.

A Westwood win would be a break even result for me, I'll be happy if he wins and you can't say it wouldn't be a deserved victory but realistically I can't see it happening.

It's gonna take a miracle performance from Lee if he is to pull this one off

On a positive note, I would never fancy him to win from the front round this track so maybe a surge from the pack is the way to go

Personally I can't see past a left hander winning this now.

Rory still a bit too short Laugh

This thing can turn around quicker than a waltzer. This is a pressure game and Lee is in less of a pressure situation and can relax a bit, loosen up hit all the fairways and start seeing his shots again. Phil could try too hard and get unlucky in the trees etc, Hanson will start sweating, Bubba will get crazy and if Westwood shoots 67 which he is capable of then he could be thereabouts.

"Apparently, on the last three occasions that the Masters has ended on Easter Sunday, the winner's caddy has worn bib number 53. And that's the number Westwood's caddy Billy Foster has drawn this week. Could it be an omen?"
