looking back at previous winners it is striking how many open winners have won here
Tom Weiskopf 1972 Lee Trevino 1973 Jack Nicklaus 1977/78 Johnny Miller 1980/83 Mark Calcavecchia 1987/98 Nick Price 1994 Mark O'Meara 1995 Justin Leonard 2003 Todd Hamilton 2004 Padraig Harrington 2005 Ernie Els 2008
not sure what the link is and which way it works
and of course no tiger, as he makes his debut this week
Did take some out of Wilson @ 48 and 34, pleased to say. Taken half stake out of Oosthuizen @ 27, all stake out of Palmer @ 37 and put it on Oosthuizen @ 42. Just need to get rid of the boy wonder now and the picture will look OK.

Had my biggest pre-tournament ever on Rory - £220 @ 9.7 and just laid £250 off @4.8
Also laid my £50 stake back on Keegan at half the odds I backed him at. If either win then I still make a handsome profit on the tournament. Had £20 on Stanley and Schwartzel and a tenner each on Wilson and Pod.
Had to be done after the mistakes of last week when I only just managed a small profit after looking ar one stage to make over a grand.

Bradley,Crane and Oosthuzen all sitting nicely positioned Yang still got a sniff after a bad start Stanley no chance and Shwarter stinker start but gets to level or -1 then all in all been a good day at the office.
Need Rory out the picture and I would LOVE my chances.

Have added Carl Pettersson with a view to trading. Early start today from the first tee - also speculative fivers on Els, Duke and Stenson. I think Pods odds look big at the moment - 95/1. I have already backed him pre-tournamnent but if he can manage to par his first hole today the 10th he might gain some momentum and make a few birdies - his 3 birdies yesterday all came on the back nine - his first 9 holes today. Odds could tumble, especially as the wind might get up later.

I believe the point you are trying to make is that there has been a rather hign number of Honda winners who have also won a Major. The reality, I suspect is not actually the case.
Your list of Honda/ Major winners spans 4 deacdes and more and you have identified 11 winners of the Hinda and a Major, approx 2.5 per decade, or around 2.5 Honda winners grabbing a Major in every 10 year cycle, nothing at all unusual about that I think.
Thought provoking post though.

Eric, where are you getting the wind info from? The forecasts I looked at weren't anything out of the ordinary, where are you looking? http://classic.wunderground.com/sports/GLF/stadium/10:GLF?st=1330680600
Ah fair enough. Cheers mate, good luck with your bets. Karlsson 400+ if you fancy a little top up. I felt it was worth a fiver.
A Tiger resurgence would be handy today, think he's got it in him. Tee to green was pretty good what I saw, just a club short here and there a few times, hopefully with benign morning conditions that won't be an issue.

Not the best day, not the worst day. Losing 8pts on the the lay prices. Would need to lay out an additional 5 pts at the back prices to be in the same position as I am now. Looked at Davis Love as he's one of those on the list of usual suspects, did nowt. Toying with adding Westwood as a possible trade, but he's shortened 2 pts overnight. That will make a team of 13, so I might add K. T. Kim, as I was last time out. Will decide in about an hour. Good luck.

Rose playing very well, 12/1 before he teed it up today which seemed a good price considering he has a decent record round here. He now has the easier 9 (by some way) to play

For sure, I just think there's more chance of him being shorter than 9/2 by the end of this round. His market rival, Rory has the tougher 9 to play and is already 3 adrift
Rose seems to be putting inside 15-16 feet for birdie on nearly every hole, just scrambling for par once IIRC
Of course, being golf absolutely anything can happen, but at this moment Rose seems fav to be fav overnight

Taking a bit of a bath here. Need Tiger or Karlsson to make a charge over he weekend. CH3 putting in a strong showing, his Masters price is worth a quick look.

Well do I make the same mistake 2 weeks running and hope either McIlroy, Bradley and perhaps even Schwartzel or Pod manage a win? I have been more cautious this week and clawed back my stake on all of them at at least half the odds I backed them. In the case of McIlroy, Schwartzel and Pod I have already made a nice little profit to green up on the field. Its now a case of taking £300 profit now or letting it ride and hoping either Rory,Keegan or Charl pulls it off. Would be much more confident apart from the presence of Justin Rose.

bristoldoug, take some more bits out of your winners and put it on Rose. You should be able to guarantee £200 + and have less worry and more trading opportunities. Good luck.

Should have added that my problem isn't Rose, bristoldoug, it's Jimmy Walker. Backed him the other week and traded him well, missed him this time. Thinking about taking some more out of Rose and splitting it 60/40 between Bradley and Walker. The problem with that is that if the likes of Woods, Westwood, Love etc. make a fast start, the odds will change a lot. So, I'm going to do the laying of Rose and sit still for a bit.

quincy im not disagreeing, i just mean with rory so short its making the others artificially longer and its not an attractive policy to trade out as things stand, for me personally..but i am usually a trader

i reckon only those -3 and better are still in this...woods for example could shoot the lights out and get to -7 or even -8 and still be 5 or 6 shots adrift going into round 4

Wind fcast looks pretty consistent all day....17 to 20 mph winds and on this course we all know anything can happen even without wind.....2 rnds left its anybodys down to evens.....

If the wind gets up, will that diminish Rory's chances? The guys on Sky last night suggesting he's not as good as some in the wind due to his high ball flight
Disappointed by Rose's finish, he was playing flawless for 14 holes but can't moan too much due to him still leading. Maybe something like -12/13 good enough to win it?

However one of bets I did a typo and instead of doing 75p e/w i've gone and done £75 e/w I only just noticed and its stephen lee whos about to start last 16 match. Would anybody advise me to do anything in terms of contacting bookie or just let it ride and chalk it down to bad mistake. And if it turns out to be a winner than it would be an even bigger mistake if i changed bet.
stephen lee doing well for you goobar!
did you let the position ride or lay off?

Sky editing a video package to show Tiger Woods doing a strange double take at 16 year old Lexi Thompson to the lyrics 'Im feeling sexy and free' = awkward and weird.
