Ordinarily I would be delighted with yesterday's win by Penny Max (advised 6/1), but the narrow defeats of Montbazon and Dark Ranger left us cursing our luck yet again.  Montbazon drifted in the betting to 5/1 SP, but performed extremely well only to get beat by one length, and finishing a whole 19 lengths ahead of the third placed horse.  A similar story for Dark Ranger, who looked all over the race turning the corner.  He finished up getting beat by half a length, after pulling away from the rest of the field with the eventual winner.
