We've backed Chartreux (Towcester 3.45) recently, at a price just shy of Evens.  That was a good price for this horse, and he's full of potential this year.  H fell that day when travelling nicely.  He's too short for a selection today (best price 8/11), but should win if he stays on his feet.  There are three others, at much higher prices that look good value to back.

We were left frustrated yet again yesterday with 3pt each way bet Striding Edge.  This horse is more than capable of being competitive off a mark of 59, but requires a much more agressive ride than the current apprentice can give him.  4th again yesterday, he will most likely remain on this rating next time out, but unless connections take the positive step and appoint an experienced jockey, I think we'll give him a wide berth for now.

I'm normally loathe to criticise jockeys, but will make an exception in the case of Jamie
Spencer yesterday evening.  I've watched replays of the 6.55 at Kempton several times now, and
I'm still shaking my head at how such an experienced jockey can deliver such a poor ride.  Dark
Ranger was clearly the best horse in the race, and finishing like a train he wasn't even close
to empty at the line.  Turning the corner into the straight, Spencer was already leaving the
horse with plenty to do, but then to chose a path through the field that required him to hold up
the horse several times, until the gaps appeared was baffling to say the least.  I can only
assume connections are just as disappointed as punters after the race.  The horse will win
again, but I believe the price will be more reflective of his ability, and will be hard to punt.
Anyway, rant over, we move on...

It was a great spectacle yesterday, watching Swincombe Flame get back up in the final strides to win the Lanzarote Hurdle.  Advised here at 13/2, his price wasn't helped by the fact Pricewise also tipped him up, and he went off the 9/2 fav.  Tara Royal's price drifted rather worryingly before the off at Warwick, but he ran a very credible 3rd.  Hopefully you will have got a price closer to the 14/1 SP, than the 8/1 advised here yesterday morning.  Strongbows Legend ran very well at Warwick just tiring in the final furlong, but his 3rd got the place money again.
Coup Royale finished just out of the places, and Gates Of Rome found just one better on the day.

Yesterday's top bet of the day, Tamareen (advised 6/1), drifted in the market before the off (8/1 SP), but ran a blinder.  Pulling away from the field with the favourite, our selection only got beat a neck in the end.  We got the place money though, to add to the money from Hinton Admiral's solid victory.  Lulu's Gift faded badly in the finish at Huntington, and Merkel was pulling so hard in the first 3 furlongs at Dundalk, she was unlikely to find much in the home straight, which she didn't.

We were due the piece of good furtune yesterday with Next To Nowhere.  Two horses going well, fell in the home straight, and our selection just help on for the win, when out on his feet in the final furlong.  Given the numerous 2nd places we've suffered recently, it was another welcome winner.

Not sure many of you would have got the 40/1 about Quousko De Lisop yesterday.  That price was only avaiable until 10.30am with Stan James.  Hopefully you would have got the 33/1 at least.  He ran a great race, just tiring in the final furlong, after leading the whole way round.  A furlong shorter and we would have quite possibly been sitting on a 40/1 winner.  Midnight Tuesday fell four out at Ffos Las, when in contention, and Fleur de Vassy was an unlucky loser.  In control going over the second last, he lost some momentum at the final fence, and got ambushed by a horse that stayed on from nowhere.
