I see that some operations have 14,000 sign ups to people basically taking bookmaker offers and laying off on here. It is being done on an industrial scale. There is even a thread on mumsnet about it.

How much of the overall liquidity do people reckon this pumps into the exchange?

On premier league acca markets it usually the majority of the volume thanks to the skybet price boost. Look at tonights acca. 55k of 74k matched on Man city, Atletico and Brighton.

I'd have thought 14,000 people would struggle to get £55,000 on with skybet.

@TheInvestor: I'm not sure that's relevant to this discussion, the measure in the budget is to make gaming free bets taxed the same way sports free bets already are - this from the Budget Book:

Remote gaming operators currently benefit from a more generous tax treatment when they offer discounted or free gambling (‘freeplays’) to customers in Remote Gaming Duty than would be the case for operators offering free bets on things like football and horseracing. The government will therefore amend the tax treatment of freeplays in Remote Gaming Duty to bring it into line with the tax treatment of free bets in General Betting Duty.

frog I would have thought a large slice of action on here comes from people laying off who are engaged in "matched betting"  I even do it myself still at times when I have an account that I can still use an offer on
