Hi. I am looking to buy a new laptop, nothing too pricey or extravagant, just something that allows me to browse the internet, and most importantly, allows me to trade in play football matches using bet angel basic and possibly bet angel professional. I don't even know where to begin looking!!! A laptop that allows me to use Microsoft word & excel would also be helpful. Anybody have any suggestions?? Thanks in advance.
It’s difficult to give an answer based on the limited info given but for the minor tasks you describe then just about any laptop will cope.
There are quite a few things to consider though:
Do you want a touchscreen?
How big do you want the screen?
What OS do you want?
You mention Word/Excel – Do you want these included and installed?
Do you want a new machine or are you happy with refurbished (some bargains to be had for refurbished).
Also, what processor you get can be a minefield with seemingly similarly named CPU’s performing very differently. A lot of this is down to power/performance trade-off. You can see the benchmarks for CPU’s here: .

Finally, I would suggest that if you are buying online it’s a good idea to try and see the laptop in a shop first so you can test out the keyboard and trackpad as the quality of these can vary enormously as can the screen.

I'd have thought any laptop you buy new these days would be more than capable of doing what you're looking for unless Bet Angel is a lot more processor hungry than the rest of the betting spftware out there. My laptop is now around 4 years old and copes fine with spreadsheets linked to betting software etc. One thing I would look to getting is a large screen and a SSD (solid state drive) . Probably the best upgrade I did was getting the ssd for my laptop as it really speeds things up like opening programs etc Weakest link with PC's these days is the Hard drives usually as they just can't keep up with faster processors. They cost a bit more but the smaller ones are cheap and easy to instal plus few people use up the terrabytes they stick in modern machines and if you do it's easy and cheap enough to buy an external one.

Just to clarify from my earlier post - When I talk about refurbished machines, I really mean machines that have been returned unused. I would never advocate buying a second-hand laptop.

Thanks for the replies lads. I am a complete novice when it comes to technology/laptops! OS and SSD etc, doesn't mean much to me. It sounds like any moderatley priced laptop should be good enough for what i require. The SSD bit which speeds up things sounds like a key component. GIN, i shall look into the 'refurbished' laptops if u recommend there are some bargains to be had. cheers.
Anyone with any specific laptop recommendations would be greatly appreciated too??? Thank you

Of the laptops you listed, the bottom one looks best as it has a significantly faster processor than the rest (but only has a 14 inch screen)– however you need to check what the sellers stated definition of a refurbished laptop is.
Its difficult to make specific recommendations without knowing your requirements but if you are happy to go with refurbished, the dell outlet webpage is a good place to start: . http://outlet.euro.dell.com/Online/InventorySearch.aspx?brandId=7&c=uk&cs=ukdfh1&l=en&s=dfh
