I remember this Shape, there was a thread on football forum i think at the time laughing at them. if i recall correctly, in the aftermath betfair wiped all the negative balances clean.

There was a thought that the thread had been a set-up by someone to ramp the markets.
When I first joined betfair, i had a list of forumites trying to sort who the better tipsters were since every race, people had opinions. It didn't take long to dawn on me that the consistant factor on how strong one's opinion was on a horse was based on the level of panic when the market went against them. Though I can't remember their names, I quickly glued onto a trio that would alternate bigging up one or two horses to shift the market. When the 'selections' failed, one of the trio always came in saying "hard luck, mate. Usually follow you and you do great", etc, to keep their credibility going. It was so obvious that they were keen on building ramps. |
