How many serious Betfair users still us the old site?  I had a look at the new site ages ago, didn't like it and switched back again.  Am I one of the few dinosaurs or am I doing the right thing?  Am I missing out on something good?  These days I am mainly backing, not trading or laying very often.

old site. I'd be astonished if many heavy users use the new site. It is badly designed in so many ways.

Old, unequivocally.
I even gave the new one a try a few days ago. Unusuable, ugly and unnecessary.

Old site here - long time since I last checked the new. If we eventually forced to use it I'd only view BF through my api, unless they make big changes to what I last saw.

I understand why they had to construct the new site (in layman's terms, bolting to the data base), but still stuns me graphically.

The old site is still easier to look at the prices 'at a glance', spacing of tiles, fonts, etc.

Old site for me as well.  Haven't even looked at the new one in ages.  Gave up on it given BF's refusal to correct basic failures such as the listing of unmatched bets in odds order rather that just what appeared to be a random order on the new site.

In fact just for the hell of it I thought I would look to see if things have changed, especially with the Grand National coming up and the Masters round the corner - both large field events that you may want to run a book on, or get involved in multiple runners.

So I just did a lay field on the National.  Back over open bets.  Teaforthree should be listed first right?  Not a bit of it.  My open bets has somehow decided Vesper Bell should be top of the list.  Teaforthree is listed second.  But hang on, I want to amend my Monbeg Dude bet to shorter odds.......OK Monbeg Dude, damn - scrolled down the list and couldn't find him.  Start again..  take it easy this time....Monbeg, Monbeg......hmmmm,   Ah found it - 6th from the bottom ffs Cry

Same sh*t as they say Laugh

The Vis, you can also add to that the fact they do not show the open bets to payout either, its complete and utter madness, the new site is designed by people that have no idea how to use the site.
Old site definitely for me, the new site is unusable

I entirely get it when people say they prefer the old site for things like laying the field or speed of getting bets on.  What I can never get my head around is people who say they prefer how it looks - it's monumentally ugly IMO.  Is it just status quo bias (no one likes change)?

old for me too. Hate the fact it defaults to some sort of soccer coupon that I don't even understand but it's better than whatever that deep blue mess is.

In 2003, I got a six month contract to bet on-line at the big six bookmakers (there were five of us, in all)  Each week for a year came a new task from simple tennis 1x2 to accumulators, etc.

Each week, a report on how long it took, easy, problems, etc.   I was paid to be 'direct', no sugar coating.

I had no idea which bookmaker had commissioned it.

Then, four months in, one bookmaker started improving.  And slowly I started seeing the changes implemented, aspects I had pointed out.

At six months, I got a call that they wanted to extend it another six months.  Fine.  I was the only one of the original ten and two others were added.

As the year went on, the site improved.  Things I pointed out at first took a month then, in some cases, overnight.  They took positives I said about other sites, improved their own and avoided negatives that everyone was doing

In the end, I came in for a final meeting at which point I met the the design team for a final view of the next version.

All nice, all enthusiastic.  But one thing in common - of the ten in the room, only two gambled on-line.

It's like having someone that doesn't have a driver's license designing the functionality of a car.

The other problem is branding takes precident over functionality.  The airlines often did this.  As well, the platform is filled with 'ads' for events, casino, poker cutting down on the actuall space for the info that you are seeking.

All common problems with web design (design!) v functionality.

I swear the sportsbook is laid out to cause confusion.  Look at the asian markets (the layout spread across the whole page, it gives no conditions of pay-out, returned stakes BUT has a huge block with blackjack/roulette and the latest casino game for the mindless).

Yawn....griping done for the month.  Nothing to see here....time to move along.

Most of the time on the old site although I find navigation much easier on the new site.  I do a lot of bets with partial settlements and it can get pretty expensive when the new site pretends that it includes settled runners.

That's probably my only massive problem remaining with the new site.  That's not to say it's that good especially for a full re-design.  The old site is a bit like a classic car where once you know all the problems with it, you operate around them and get really good performance.

I guess in the same analogy the new site is an electric car where people tell you that it's better for everyone but when you run someone over who didn't hear you coming you're not so sure.

I use the new site, it was the default when I joined betfair last year so I guess I just got accustomed to it, don't like the old site at all when I've used it
