I'm not a Man U hater but I believe they are now just a top six club whoever the manager is. The years of domination are over.

I think there has to be some accountability as a manager. I agree that they are not the most dominant club anymore and would never have won the league this year, but this season they are not even challenging for the top 4, on the verge of going out in the Champions League to a very ordinary team, knocked out of the FA cup at home and knocked out of the carling/capital (whatever it is now) cup over 2 legs to a team currently in the relegation zone.

The fact that they have failed on every count, missed out on some decent signings over the summer, signed Fellaini for £28 mil was it, have Rio and Van Persie publicly critising, and Vidic saying he want out at the end of the season (which I take as not really being happy with Moyes) can't please the fans. He seems to have got rid of some of/hardly play the flair players, like Kagawa, Zaha and Nani and has this negative defensive mentality which I don’t think appeals to the fans. There is this trio of Young, Valencia and Cleverley who don’t seem to offer much and he plays for the big games. I think the fans are getting peeved as he has the likes of Januzaj and he doesn’t even put him on the bench for the Champions League game against Olympiacos.

I also think that some of the players have stopped/are not playing for him, and when that happens you are in big trouble as a manager.

Looking at the clubs in the relegation zone, the bottom 5 have all changed managers this season so I’m not sure that anyone else will go before the end of the season. In Man United’s case if there season is effectively over in the next 3 weeks or so and all the players hate the manager it would be better to get rid of him sooner than the end of the season, get a caretaker manager in and start the search early for a decent manager to take over. If you want a big manager the earlier you state your position and start looking the better.

Unless you can speak to someone like Fergie and find out what he thinks, it seems like a reasonable price.

I think what happened in the summer is that Moyes and the upstairs gang didn't want to take 'everything ferguson has done' and ripped it apart.

But I keep watching Man U and I see so little inspiration on the field.  It is reminiscent of when Chelsea looked like robots (win or lose, spock-like emotion on the pitch).

I've never scene Rooney talk to another player during the match.  He not a defensive threat when he stands at his own 30 yard line, not even pretends to move towards a player with the ball.

Yet when they are nil at half time, the number of times they have hit the pitch and scored within minutes of the half time talk tells me there must be something in Moyes. But can he form an entire game plan and do his players have the ability to execute AS A TEAM.  Would they have rallied like the Spurs did last night?

The Fergie / Moyes handover is a bit like the Blair / Brown handover.  Sure, a lot of people don't like Blair, but he was both politically successful and presided over what was, by and large, a pretty good period for Britain.  But he kept control of when the handover would happen, and when he smelled the wind changing saw it as a good time to hand over the reigns to the anointed successor.  Leaving Brown saddled with a whole host of problems which made him look like a buffoon and cost him any serious chance of winning over the electorate.

Likewise, I think Fergie looked at what he had and saw what was coming, and saw it as a very good time to get out.  I think most of the problems come from the squad he assembled and it's making Moyes look stupid.  United, their fans, and their board have prided themselves for years on being above the reactionary manager-swapping of the likes of Chelsea and you'd like to thing they were above booting out Moyes before he's had a chance of building his own squad.  Maybe they'll see it as being worth becoming just another team for a couple of years to avoid becoming just another one of THOSE clubs.  But these days, who knows.
