“We have every intention of opening the forums to new customers and have exciting plans for Q1 2014! We are looking to offer Betfair customers the opportunity to join the forum on an invitation only basis provided they agree to the forum rules and regulations.”
Originally BF said the forum was closed due to “technical reasons” which is clearly untrue. I am not excited by the prospect of a cherry picked forum at the expense of open discussion and free exchange of ideas. This is a poor decision and bad for the long term health of the exchange.

I reckon 'invitation only' means all the folk that joined after the doors were shut on the 10th August last year and of course anyone else who joins after the doors re-open.
I see Bob V slavering at the prospect of this golden chance to get back on. Maybe a name change by deed poll will be required though  |

I don't remember them saying 'techinical'. From what I remember, two reasons were (a) people opening multiple accounts and using multiple names usually to harass other members and (b) it was the build up to the float and several people were signing up betfair making negative remarks without ever placing a bet or putting money in their accounts.
From there, the forum was not a priority to them focusing on twitter and other outlets. Plenty of forums out there with chat, any ways. |

why not have one forum name per customer and for security link it to austrailian wallet as that seems to be the most regulated area on here.

As of today it is open to people who have had an account for 6 months+
