Bad cos I lose more than I win. If it wasn't for the internet I wouldn't have got into gambling. There was no way I would've gone to the bookies.
Good because it's given me something to do over the last 5-6 years. If it wasn't for gambling I think I'd be bored out of my brains? The trouble is - boredom costs me money!
I'm into programming and that got boring UNTIL I started mixing it with gambling so GAMBLING is a big part of my life now.
Am I glad I got into it? Probably not? I'd probably be about 2 grand richer if I hadn't!
Well it's been good and bad for me...Bad cos I lose more than I win. If it wasn't for the internet I wouldn't have got into gambling. There was no way I would've gone to the bookies. Good because it's given me something to do over the last 5-6 years.
The internet has changed so many of our lifestyles, before i started betting online about 4 years ago ,my betting consisted of a few pre-game bets on rugby , league etc and a few dollars on the gee gees, but then i went 365 and things change, all of a sudden heaps of games with every option imaginable, and then having a go on the casino, i even won 7 grand in my first week on keno, but over time as one does started to lose as you do most times, instead of it becoming a past time it sorta became a bit more than that, its evolved online gambling like the porn industry, its just everywhere online, kinda raises the issue if the internet is really a good thing at all.
With the online casinos these places and bookmakers are no different they are raking it in, and i think a lot of the games are fixed , you simply cant win on them , sure there is the odd one who wins, i often read about their winners , like for instance some guy won 45000 on one spin but the spin was a 65 dollar spin , so how many 65 dollar spins did that person take before he won , its all false, creating delusions in mugs minds.
If you see the increasing profits of 365, they are onto a winner but i read where ppl who are consistently winners have their accounts closed or restricted, is that fair?......you become a uneconomic customer, bad for business.
As for my thread question , has the online betting been good for us or me personally ,for me financially no but from the viewpoint of enjoyment , most of the time yes, its just that like so many things in life one tires of things after a while.
As for betting online im cutting back now , some accounts are shut for good ,ive only got 4 accounts now im not in 365 now, i actually shut my account there 2 months back , wanted to open a new one right from scratch, sorta start afresh, seems we have our wires crossed on some issues but stuff them anyhow, although when it comes to getting up to the second info i still use their site on computer and mobile........i like betfair, like when you look at the concept its much better, cashing out trading etc, it does use the correct name, betfair, hard betting on a bookies site when you bet on a tennis match then the person you backed starts dropping their bundle, yea you can bet against it but the layout of betfairs market when a games going so much better.
When i first came on the internet about 8 years ago everything was new and interesting, now a lot of it is just boring,i always say that for some the internet is a escape from reality , for some it is ppls reality, not sure if thats good, we do live in a different world, not sure if its better, we are being controlled by technology.

I think technology fools us into thinking that we're better off. It's like before the internet we can't have been very happy? When I first got on the net it was a novelty, now it's a need like a phone or TV etc. I feel like we don't appreciate things anymore.
When I got my VIC20 in 1982 and my C64 in 1984 I was buzzing so much, nothing could possibly match it! It was heaven! The games were so basic compared to how they are now but you appreciated the graphics, the soundtrack, and everything else. You wanted to learn about the guy that programmed it and be like him.
Porn was like gold dust. Now it's like "Who cares!"
Going to HMV etc. to buy a music video or CD was really exciting. Not any more!
I could go on and on...
Anyway, I'm off to throw my computer away now!!!

I always remembered my first game of blackjack I played online, sitting there , sweaty palms , nervous as anything, and I lost 10 stinking dollars,,oh the relief when I played a second game and won , spent 20 and won 20 ,I always reckon if you break even when gambling you have probably done ok, as for blackjack, shudder to think how much I've lost in the end , bad bad game, it's probably like lots of guys hitching up with feral females, and I'm not suggesting all females are but having their bit of fun only for it to turn to custard over time, it cost either in kids having lives stuffed up or guys being only screwed only in a financial way, seen a fair bit of that overtime, not in my life though.

mikenz - we have got a lot in common - I hate Facebook too!
Several years ago people were talking to me about Facebook like I was missing out cos I wasn't on it! I actually started believing them and joined!
Now here's the really CRAZY thing... When I got on it, I became like the others trying to get people on it. The question I really struggled answering though is when people said "What is it good for?"
Anyway, that was years ago. I never go on it anymore. Too busy tweeting!!!
Don't be silly!!!

I don't think it has been a good thing for you Mike. There are no long term winners in online casinos. The games are designed to favour the casino. You can't beat their games by being clever or playing well. You can win one night by being lucky, but if you keep playing you will lose all that money back and more. When it comes to sportsbetting 95% are long term losers. Try and find a new hobby? Maybe there's something else which could give you the same rush, or whatever it is that you get out of gambling, but without the negatives? Maybe some computer/Xbox/playstation game(s)? Fishing? Hunting? Canoeing?

Betting on Kenya vs Canada in the World Cup and massively over-exposing on Kenya 6 down, that was definitely a low. Not so much the bets themselves - I still think most of the lays were matched well ahgead of market - but the realisation that it was Kenya against Canada and that it was likely to be my biggest losing market for some time!
High point though, telling everyone (after a tournament largely opposing favourites) that Spain in normal time were going to destroy Italy and then watching them trample all over them somehow not breaking my Dzagoev top scorer bet.
For most people, you could do much less enjoyable things for the money you spend.
Judging by announced results, most bookmakers run sports betting purely as a front, almost loss leader, to get people either in to shops or online for casino games. I don't really understand online casino betting but to be fair most of my friends don't realise how I can be happy losing a few hundred quid in a weekend on a few football games.
