Using Betfair from Italy

Does anybody know how easy it is to get on Betfair in Italy? Last summer, I took my laptop with me to Italy and could get on the website through the hotel's wi-fi. However, from what I've read, various legislation has been passed since then, and I've read several comments saying that it's meant to be blocked.

Also, I've read that only Spanish customers can use it in Spain, but presumably this means that anyone can access it as the site isn't blocked?
