Sideshow, I kid you not, I was just looking for a link to buy a connector for Laptop-TV (hdmi cable?) and found this thread...cheers matey, off to Amazon in search of 4 squid cable. BTW, I would have paid 25 squid for one

To answer your question, "silly people". Sort of people who'd pay £100 per foot for de-oxygenated golded mermaid hair hi-fi cable that's been blessed by the superpope, and tell you they can REALLY tell the difference.

TBF with analogue there might be an argument but with digital, wtf, are they trying to say that the 1s and 0s are better quality 1s and 0s?
They are a better class of "bit" are they? With digital if the cable works it works and chances ARE a cheap one will work. Poundland do them I think. Save yourself 24 pounds.

when I got a sky hd box the hdmi cable sky supplied was a cheap no brand basic one. I had a decent hd tv that cost me around £1500 and I thought I need to buy a better quality cable. I spent about £40 on a highly rated hdmi cable that had good reviews in the home cinema mags but I couldn't notice any difference from the cheap cable.

I got conned to death by two ****s at Comet! I bought a HD box about a year ago, and the **** who talked me into it said that it was essential that I bought a proper HDMI cable costing about £25 cos the one that came with it was crap. He called his mate over and said "Just telling this customer that he needs another HDMI lead..." They both made me feel stupid and i ended up buying the ******* thing!!!

I saw my mate later that was well up on these things and he gave me a long lecture about why it was no better than the one supplied!

My computer had broke so couldn't get on the net, that's why I went to Comet.

I got an Amazon basics one for a few quid recently, it's top notch.

Wow I really feel the gawdalmighty "burn"... ouch, randomly insulted on the internet by a mouth breather with school issues, how will I recover :)

Oh and generally, the really cheap stuff is made of cheaper quality material. Do the exact same job but don't last as long.

still can buy a spare and still save loads of money :D

Buy 10 spare cables and you're still in pocket ;) Seriouly certainly for some things quality matters e.g. I always get good quality headphones and I really notice the difference, but an hdmi cable? You plug it in and it gathers dust down the back of the telly for 10 years, it's not under much stress or "wiggling"?

Try the pound shop, that's where I get mine from.
