You are currently number 1 in the queue. You should be connected to an agent in about 00:02. The average amount of time a customer has to wait is 00:02. Rachel (Waiting) Rachel : Hello welcome to Betfair you are chatting with Rachel. How can I help?
You: Noticed on your forum, when I eventually found it by searching Betfair reviews, that most of your customers appear to be very negative about Betfair. Is it true that new customers cannot post to the forum?
Rachel: The customers cannot post on the forum because this will be changed soon
Rachel: And the customer would have a new platform to leave posts
You: Can you elaborate?
Rachel: This is the information I have up till now
Rachel: The reason why new customers cannot post on forum
Rachel: Because it will be changed and we will have a new forum for customers
You: It is not informing me of anything. Are you saying that the current forum is to close and be replaced by a new forum?
Rachel: It will be replaced by a new forum
You: Just read a few posters claim that there has been no new members allowed for about 1 year. Appears very odd and all this negativity about premium charges, poor website etc puts me off as a potential new customer
Rachel: We consider customers' feedback important to us, as it will help us improve as a company
Rachel: Were we can improve we will do our best to do so
Rachel: May I ask what were you looking for as a potential customer?
You: There are already many established sportsbooks so I was looking for the exchange but could not find it. Appears odd to advertise best prices then I find a sportsbook with very poor prices compared to the competition. New customers will be irritated by this and go back to Ladbrokes etc.
Rachel: The exchange is found on the following link: http://www.betfair.com/exchange/
Rachel: We are the only company who offers such a platform
Rachel: You have the opportunity to back and lay, by choosing your own odds
Rachel: Or selecting the ones already on the site
Rachel: You also have the option to take the starting price or also cash out
You: Surely I should be able to google Betfair and land on the exchange by default unless the Sportsbook is your main product. Feels to me like you are advertising a swimming pool and I end up finding a bucket of water.
Rachel: When you google betfair, you land on the main page, which is not the sportsbook
Rachel: After logging in you are on the sports section on the exchange
You: I can assure you that new users searching on google for Betfair land on the Sportsbook. What is your main product -sportsbook or exchange. The exchange sounds good.
Rachel: Our main product is the exchange
You: Then it really is bizarre when new customers like me by default are directed to a Sportsbook with the worst prices in the Industry. We are not going to leave Ladbrokes etc unless Betfair offer us better odds or offer something different.
You: Most of your customers in your forum appear to be sick of Betfair and leaving to join some purple place. What is that?
Rachel: You can save the exchange link as one of your favourites
Rachel: If you would like to join betfair you can do so
Rachel: We are definitely not going to force you to do so
Rachel: As I already mentioned, we value the feedback of our customers
You: I may be a bit thick here but why are all customers directed to your Sportsbook if the Exchange is your main product as stated by you above? New customers will look at the poor value on the Sportsbook and never return to the Betfair site.
You: Nobody can force people to bet but there is stiff competition out there and a potential new customer is not being attracted by the first Betfair exoerience - being informed by advertising that Betfair offer better prices then being directed to a sportsbook with poor prices and finding a Betfair Community Forum where most of the current posters slag off Betfair. Does not give a good first impression to potential new customers is what I am trying to feedback.
Rachel: I appreciate your feedback
Rachel: And I will forward this to the responsible team
You: You typed above that Betfair are the only company to offer an Exchange? What is this purple place your posters refer to? I assume that this is another sportsbook with better prices
Rachel: Yes, we are the only company who offers the exchange
You: Finally what on earth is this premium charge your customers appear incensed about? Betting tax was abolished years ago but it appears from your posters that Betfair tax winners between 20% and 60% of winnings. Don't mind paying a small tax of between 1-3% of winnings for using your website (in the unlikely event that I do win) but there is no way that I could bet with Betfair with these taxes if true when it is tax free at all other UK bookmakers.
You: The Exchange sounds good but I don't think I would bother signing up until there is better feedback on your forum as most customers appear to be hacked off by Betfair Rachel: It is your choice, and I appreciate your feedback
You: The feedback is worth considering as many potential new customers like me would not waste any time giving you constructive feedback - they would simply go back to Ladbrokes etc and continue betting.
You: Thanks for you assistance and I hope Betfair finds the feedback useful. Will check you site again in 6 months for a final time to see if the customer base are more satisfied on your forum. The tax is a killer though as I cannot see me paying 20% to 60% tax on winnings. Best of luck
