Whats the best way to play this, laying 00 ht blindly doesnt pay off but is there another dimension to it and what leagues are best for 00ht and worst for 00hts ?
no idea. its something im looking into myself. generally i lay it when i think someone will score, but id like to do it more scientifically.
past results are the only thing to really go on though, i would have thought. ie how often have the teams involved reached half time 0-0 and how often have those games actually stayed 0-0. teams that regularly have 0-0 first halfs but lots of 2nd half goals would be useful. an alternative take would be how often have those teams played a goalless 2nd half, disregarding the half time score altogether. a 3rd option, how many goals have the teams games had in the first half compared to the 2nd half. one major problem all this is that you dont get much of a sample until youve played half the season. going on the previous seasons results probably woudnt be much use.

last season wigan had 12 of their games 0-0 at half time, none of them ended 0-0. whereas norwich had 13 half time 0-0s, 6 of which stayed 0-0.
remarkable differences really, yet i imagine the odds for both teams games would have been fairly similar. the half time odds on 0-0 always seem to be roughly in relation to the starting point of 0-0. with not much regard to which teams are actualy playing.

Hello! I'm no expert on these things, and like you I'm on a mad mission to find that magical edge!
Please forgive me for being negative but this is my problem with this...
A team can lose 5 games on the trot, and then win 5 games. It all seems so unpredictable?
Wigan could have 23 0-0s and then score in the next 23 matches. Can the stats really be relied on?

Looking at matches where the unders were value last season (top 5 leagues), there were 451 matches, 157 of which were 0-0 at half-time. +34.18 points excluding commission (7.58% ROI). Losing sequence of 17. Winning sequence of 5 (a couple of times). Very hard to profit from the Bundesliga on this market though.

With no data to back it up i think you would find the Japanese and Korean Leagues quite good for this. Many games are low scoring in the first half and then kick on in the second

sheppy, the stats can be relied on, but targeting specific sides is not the way to go IMO. The best, for me, are those with the lower average goals per game, (English & Scottish leagues) Goals can come at any time during a match, but most come in the second half.

I've gone down the road of looking to lay 0-0s etc. and one of the things that put me off was the size of the odds. It's like you'd have to get a lot right cos one bad result and it could wipe out a nice run of good ones.
Laying 3-3's seems good value going off how few there are, BUT I'd be on edge every time somebody scored!
I've spent many hours running computer programs over various results and I still can't find anything I feel can be trusted. I feel really frustrated!
Good luck! Keep trying!

Shows you how efficient the markets are. Laying big prices can be a bit intoxicating, just coining it in match after match, then wham!! Beware, anything that can happen, will happen eventually.

Yes, the markets are unbelievably efficient! I've tested Betfair's big odds against the bookies and still can't make a profit!
I've come to the conclusion that for a system to work it's got to be quite complex. You might find a simple system that seems profitable but I wouldn't be surprised if it catches up with you in the end.
Not a day goes by where I'm not thinking of ways to make a profit - I'm obsessed!

If UNDER 2.5 is the clear favourite and a goal is scored in the first 10 mins ..... BACK UNDERS ....... as soon as they kick off again .
Long term winner .. FACT .

The 0 0 market ht and 0 0 market ft is best avoided fullstop, too unpredictable. You end up doing games you should be staying away from and that leads you down a dead end.
Dont where I am with betting, I am at a crossroads scratching my head. Dont want to give it up but feel its a futile exercise.

Take Tottenham last season, game after game they scored late goals. Usually Bale admittedly, so a bit of a one off. Last season they only had 2 out of 38 games have no goals in the 2nd half. The odds on no more goals at half time i imagine would have been around 5.0 so youd be miles in profit. But even if you dont like laying those kind of odds, the fact they had 2nd half goals in almost all their games means you would surely have made a good profit laying the current score at any lower prices too during the 2nd half.
OK it's easy saying that now, when you have all the results. But if youd looked at them after 10 games and seen that all 10 of their games so far had at least 1 2nd half goal, it would have felt pretty safe laying the current score every game and seeing win after win mounting up.
Reminds of a few years back when i noticed all peterborough's home games had stupid amounts of goals. the over 2.5 was around 1.9 in the next game, even though something like 7 out of 8 of their home games had gone over so far. i bet on overs, it was up after about 20 minutes. i kept backing their home games to go over all season. think they ended up with 21 out of 23 home games going over. it doesnt feel like "past results arent much to go on" when the bets just keep winning time!

Hi sideshowbob! Yes hindsight is a wonderful thing isn't it!
You said some really good things and anything that gives me hope is worth reading!
Now this might sound a bit extreme, but it's typical of me to do something like this...
Creating a large database of thousands of matches and seeing how much things stay the same. From my experience, spending a few hours looking at stats isn't enough. I just think you'll get caught out when everything seems to be going really smoothly.
So for example, if a team averages 2.5 goals a game in the first half of the season, will this still be similiar for the 2nd half?
Tell your mates not to come round for the next 6 months!!!
