I am continually being logged into the new site, which I think is awful, and I keep having to switch back to the old. It is as if Bf are insisting that we switch. But I don't want to. I know how to use the old site, and I don't get on with the new one. Should I try to use it, or do other people agree with me when I say it's a pile of poo?

I have betfair bookmarked as http://sports.betfair.com/?optout=true and it just goes to the old site with no problems, just change your betfair bookmark and6 should be OK till they finally bin the old site

Widely despised. BF stick their fingers in their ears and say "you're wrong we're right".

Microsoft who did exactly the same with Windows 8 are now re-releasing a second version of it that's an implicit admission of its poorness and that what everyone was saying was right. Wonder if BF will learn anything from that?!

Logged in using a friends lap top the other day and what a truly frightening experience trying to trade the cricket on the new site. Couldn't delete bets from the bet slip and  no obvious refresh. I just had no confidence in it and gave up in the end without placing a bet.

I had such a bad experience when last using it (some months ago) to place run line markets on cricket, where it shows completely the wrong positions, that I haven't dared go back to the new site since, even though betfair regularly "take" me to the new site as if they're begging me to use it. If it worked properly I would use it!!

The new site is so depressing. Every so often I go back to it and try it again for a while, only to give up when faced with critical problems. This thread made me try one more time, within 30 seconds, Betfair's site had kicked me out of the race I was viewing and taken me to a list of today's in-play football. Thanks for nothing, Betfair!

This post could be cut and paste from every upgrade.

The last time, they made the changes.

I'm working on a rather extensive site right now, various streams of data, etc.  Mine, built for a fraction, allows me to put up several 'skins' / platforms for users to choose from, all bolted to the data bases.

Why a company like betfair can't do the same, I am perplexed.

Offer the lite / offer the basics / offer the complex / offer the options on how to present your match/unmatched.

It can all be done.....

haven't used it for nearly a year, have they improved  it at all? such a shambolic design i wouldnt be surprised if they just gave up and started again from scratch. lost money on it before thanks to being unable to cancel bets i'll never use it until it improves considerably

the old betfair interface is fine. im happy being able to still use it. in fact i even use the very old version, which only a small percentage of users will even know.
you get to this interface by typing the direct link to the market (which you find on the bottom of "rules") and add "&mv=classic".
try http://sports.betfair.com/?mi=107024250&ex=1&origin=MRL&mv=classic for example.

jjj, I suspect that most of the heavy users that are not using bots are using the 'very old' version.

While the very old site is cleaner & simpler, I do like seeing the Betfair SPs so I moved to the 'new old' site a while ago.

Which reminds me of yet another problem with the new site; if you make the SPs visible, it throws away one of the odds columns.

Shapeshifter - Yes yes yes! The idea of downloadable "skins" which use the betfair data but present it in a way tailored to user types is a superb idea. You could make a fortune if Betfair would let go of the one size fits all mentality, which inevitably targets the lowest common denominator and leaves the sophisticated user smashing their head against their keyboard.

@Mr Magoo - I think that depend on your screen size - it only happens to me if I resize the browser window to much smaller.

This issue reminds me of surfboards...why? you may ask...

Because there are some objects we use that are so advanced in terms of design that it's really hard to come up with something better, the shape of surfboards, for instance.

The user experience of the new site is pretty much HORRIBLE at every level and only if you've never used the old site, you might end up using it (it's the best they ever known)

I'm not saying this site can't be improved, it sure can, but they did such a good job in the first place that it's hard to change it. They could change it but only if they made small adjustments and step by step, not how they did it.

IMO betfair has some hidden agenda with the new site...the colors, the pop-ups, etc, etc.

Someone here was talking about Windows 8, in terms of design it gives 10-0 to any other OS but the change is too radical and people react negatively to it, the learning curve is a bit hard but it's the first good thing Windows has done in many years, the clean design, the Metro style...I love it!

It is the worst thing betfair have ever done. They have made lots of gaffs over the past few years. The new site is qithout question their biggest mistake ever. I was hunting around on the home page for five minutes looking for a link to the exchange.

You must be mad or use a tablet, for the desktop / productivity / office / technical user it sucks dogs eggs until they go that white flakey way Laugh

It's a first generation product, iPhone is now old fashioned in terms of Operating system (OS)

I use a windows phone and now when I see the iPhone OS it makes me puke, that's how ugly it is...(search Pakistani buses and that's how I see the iPhone OS)

I'm speaking of software not hardware, the iPhone is a beautiful, well built phone, but what I'm talking is about what's happening inside

I use a desktop and all those issues will eventually be resolved

But to each his own

The new site is rubbish and doesn't even do the basics such as show correct profit and loss.

The sportsbook is just as bad, I thought the whole point of it was for people to use it for early betting when there was no money in the exchange. I've just taken at look at the french open tennis on there and they don't even have any of the matches for tomorrow on there. Really shows they don't know what they are doing.

On another note I'm still waiting 4 days for a reply to an email.

I tried using it again the other day. It is good that they have improved the colour scheme, but there are just so many markets all on the main page. When you place a bet it is still tricky to get your matched bets to show on the betting slip. And I still think it needs a functioning left menu just as on the old site. And I'm not convinced by the refresh button being next to the close button - easy to click in the wrong place.

glad the old site is still going ,so i'm guessing the old site must be fairly unpopular with the regulars  Cool.

i'm not sure of the type of lay out that pleases most 18 year olds  but i'm sure it was a lame attempt to capture that juicy market .

since most of the youngsters have wandered over to Bet365 i'm now wondering how long this eyesore will hang around
