ZEALOT is correct but he won't tell you the criteria. Finding the criteria is the fun bit that may take a couple of years. Momentum trading on it's own: NO don't waste your time. With form study and learning the patterns that occur with certain horses: YES.

so its not just as simple as backing then laying all the horses tipped by newspapers or with famous jockeys?

Try it and see with minimum stakes.  With trading you learn pretty quickly if it is working or not.

There is no click and win on Betfair. Unfortunately you have to put the hours in. You can trade the movements but not without form study or experience of why certain horses steam or drift. Just following the graphs or WOM will get you nowhere, maybe ten years ago but not now.
