if while on the charge you  have 2 bets

one wins £1000

the other loses £1000

and you pay 5% (£50) commission

what happens with the £50 ?

do you get half of that back by way of implied ,or all of it  ?

thanks

Implied commission is 3% on losses so £30

If this £1000 win is before commission (I think this is what you mean) then

Commision generated is Implied+Paid/2, in this case £30+£50/2 = £40

So a overall a loss of £10 - you've lost £50 but have potential pc saving/buffer of £40 on 20% pc

is it possible to be paying premium charge and still be on 5% commission?

It's possible, but unlikely.
Even the biggest players on here though, would be on 5 % within 6 - 12 months if they took a break, due to the 15 % weekly deduction on Betfair points.

Yeah definitely possible, i don't think too unlikely. The pc affects small players as well as big players.

sweetchild - yes it is certainly possible in the early days and after a break as mentioned .

5% is also a lot easier to deal with as a round hypothetical figure Happy

I pay the premium charge nearly every week and my discount rate is usually 4 - 6 %.

It is easily done if you don't play many markets and have steady but unspectacular wins and very few loses.

----------

very very possible if your winning strategy is to always trade to an all green book and you've been doing it for any length of time.

or if you take some time off, because the 15% weekly points decay will eat away your discount pretty quickly.

i'm on 5% in part because i'm taking my time to reach the £250k threshold at which point i won't have another bet here.

got to admit, charlatan, when/if I hit 250K I'll probably pack it in too.

fortunately, barring a rule change it's not going to be an issue for quite a while.

when you clear £250k profit what will your minimum p/c rate be 40%Confused
By:
Eddie the eagle
When: 27 Mar 13 22:55
Yes, 40 % is the minimum when you have reached 250 k profit if you are eligible to pay the charge.

so if you had no losers that week you would have to generate 80% commission to break even as they halve actual commission charged each week this is barmy imoLaughLaugh

surely the only option is to switch to bet-aq as to break even you only need to make £3 there for £10 here insaneConfusedConfusedCryCry
