Hi, just started re-studying maths and struggling with a couple of questions. Probably basis stuff for you maths guru's!
First one is: solve the equation for x
x + 5
- 8
= 0
x x-1
From this i get
(x-1)(x+5)-8x = 0
multiplying out the brackets I get
x(squared) + 5x - x -5 -8x = 0
giving me
x(squared) -4x -5 = 0
then factorise (i cant seem to factorise this)
is this correct? If not could anyone please offer any help, its driving me beserk!
