am a beginner in excel 2010 been trying all day to sort this so now have to resort asking for help from you guys please
trying to get data from sheet called ratings plus
am using this formula but obviously not right
=IF(M2="","",IFERROR(VLOOKUP(M2,'ratings plus'!C:D,4,FALSE),0))
the horses in different sheets are all in different order
on the sheet I want to link to the horses names are in column M2 and downwards
on the ratings plus sheet  the horses names are in column C, the rating I want is in D
thanks in advance

Check if the horse names are the same in each sheet as the formula definitely works. You may have a rogue space or extra character. A quick test is say cell M2 and X5 contain the same horse names then formula =M2=X5 should calculate to TRUE if they match

I get false when I try that
Rocknrollrambo
ROCKNROLLRAMBO  in uppercase will that make a difference

no upper/lower case will give the same result. Try =len(M2) to check the string length of each horse. I imagine you probably have a leading/trailing space

Common is the trailing space.
