Any cardinals on here who can give out some insider information? Happy

The previous 'next Pope' market was where I placed my first bets on Betfair, so I can blame Ratzinger for all betting on here since then Laugh

The market will go up in smoke.

Pleasing to see that P*ddy P*wer already have a market up. (and they are quoting "Singles Only" , so I guess they don't see the church moving with the times Laugh )

However, clearly word of my pope-picking skills have spread, my stakes seem to be heavily limited on there. They'll only take £6.77 MAX for my bet on Father Dougal Maguire.

will it be settled on Official Result or Fist Past the Pope?

I know the selection method is pretty arcane, but I don't think the cardinals settle it with fists! :)

So which forumites have traveled to Rome, have booked a hotel and are sitting with a telescope waiting to hoover when the smoke emerges Devil

Fast pic players sh*tting themselves going all in at 1.01 on the emergence of what looks like white smoke, only for the bells not to toll for another 14 minutes.  During the delay BFs "New Pope Today" market sees wild fluctuations as the meagre Papal wifi network struggles to cope with Vatican insiders trying to get on and the 1.01 brown panted hooverers trying to hedge.

No need for the telescope. Just pick up one of these!

You can then sneak into the vatican for the inside info. If they don't let me use my mobile phone when I'm there, I'll use tic tac (in latin of course) from the pope's balcony to communicate with my crack team of bet placers Devil

Perhaps an easy jet flight and a 20 minute meeting with the 'powers that be' to explain how that the only flutter isn't made by angel wings and be 'hired' as a, um, 'exchange consultant' Devil

Wonder if the Priest with the gambling problem on Father Ted ever made Cardinal?

Not been seen since he ran off with the raffle money, more than enough to get a betfair capable phone!

Will bookies honour winning bets or will they claim a papable error?

probably depends on whether they invoke Papal infallibility or cardinal error. Paddy's would know.

Betfair has belatedly put up a market.

So why no apparent discussion?

Despite the small total, I've had a good percentage of bets matched.

And there's at least 10 days to go.

And the Betfair prices are vastly superior to the rubbish from oddschecker.

Of course I could have searched around in the Specials Forum.

Where that vibrant debate is a papalable hit.

No papal candidates backed into 1.01, disappointing.

he was 25s on oddschecker, had good form. Came second over same course last time out. But might have put off backers by saying dont vote for him last time aswell.
