There was a promotion last week for 100% losses refunded when you wager £5,000.

Now they're emailing people who took part and refusing to refund the losses:

"Dear Customer,

Betfair Exchange Games recently launched a ‘losses back’ promotion in which you participated.

In the course of investigating your activity in this promotion, it has become clear that your betting on Exchange Games breached the terms and conditions of the promotion. Betfair’s standard promotional terms and conditions for Exchange Games – which were incorporated into the specific terms of the promotion, and which governed your participation in the promotion – prohibit minimal risk wagering.

For this reason, we will not be awarding the bonus from this promotion to you.

Regards,

Verification Team"

I don't think this is quite saying what you are claiming, do you ?
Report CONER • January 28, 2013 10:26 PM GMT
UNREAL--- prohibit minimal risk wagering.
Do they think we are all stupid.

Many moons ago I remember using some free casino bets to bet on both black and red for a single spin, unsurprisingly I won.... but the casino they sent me a similar letter and closed my account.  Is this similar to your betting pattern?

If I ever do it again I will just bet minimum stakes on red (or black) over and over again...

just read it again... this isn't free bets... it's losses refunded... is this net losses (ie losses on your bank)?  or all losses on losing bets?

minimal risk wagering not allowed is a standard t & C on these type of promotions
Report pumpkinslayerII • January 29, 2013 1:02 PM GMT
If it's net losses it doesn't matter if you are placing minimal risk bets (there wouldn't be any point as you are not trying to win a bonus) and they have simply found a way of not paying you even if it's irrelevant to the given situation. But if this is the case why have you placed minimal risk bets?

bait and switch oldest trick in the book - bf aren't blacklisted by casinomeister for nothing!

Last year, I was contracted to read 'terms and conditions' of several on-line casino's and 'summarize' them.  The myriad of conditions are there to bamboozle users, the fine-print incredible.

Someone created a 'flow chart' to work out those that were 'achievable'.  I think he worked out that the ones over $75 U.S., only around 4% were achievable.

I've stopped trying to take advantage of these so-called deals. I've read too many sob stories like this. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

What is minimal risk wagering ?
Report SHAPESHIFTER • January 30, 2013 4:03 PM GMT
IanP - when I researched that, they all have stipulations that very.  They are eliminating players who use staking plans (doubling up, etc).

Anyways, they mainly do it to get your email address for future offers (they send the 'code' after you sign up to verify then follow with other offers in minutes).

I don't understand. Big Blinds is obviously just wanting his losses back from his 'minimal risk wagering'. Hardly very minimal risk if he lost.

For God's sake Betfair - grow a pair and stand by your word. If Big Blinds lost I would take it further if they are refusing to pay the losses back.

If the promotion said minimal risk wagering wasn't allowed (and it never is) I suppose they could deduct the amount risked minimally from the 5k turned over and let you continue to build up the 5k via higher risk wagers, as a gesture of goodwill, but that will probably turn out even more in their favour. Hmm, not a bad plan :)

What is the point of such a promotion ?  100% of losses back - is that correct ?

UPDATE: Betfair paid up in the end, together with a phone call warning not to try something like this again.
