I open one market up. Then get ready to place a bet by putting in odds and stake.

If I then open up a new market - in a new tab, the original bet still shows.

If I then place the original bet on original page and place a new bet on 2nd page the 1st bet still shows on 2nd tab.

This leaves me open to making a mistake by placing the bet twice.

Anyone else have issues with this? It means I have to cancel the 2nd tab (1st bet) before I can place the 2nd bet.

I have been caught out and placed 1st bet twice due to this and had to lay off as quickly as possible.

I can see this as putting a lot of new punters off from the site

It's surely a major flaw in the programming? Or else it is intentional?

Either way, BF must know about this issue

Be sure to leave a message on the Site Feedback forum so that Betfair's helpdesk and developers can ignore it.

ive been caught out by this flaw for the pricey sum of £10
Report askari1 January 22, 2013 3:13 AM GMT
It's intentional, so that you can bet on multiples within the single betslip.

its not askari1

went to place an SP bet on a race for 10 pound, changed my mind

went to another race, pressed my selection, entered my stake, the bet went on the previous race id looked at despite changing markets

switched back to old site pronto

I have seen this happening too and it is not what anybody wants.  You often go to a market get a bet ready then either don't fancy it or just move to another market.  The old site works just fine ie the bet you non longer want on the first market has gone.  I can imagine many people have ended up placing the same bet twice or ended up with multiple bets on different markets they didn't want because of this.

The issue has been mentioned before, but as with so many flaws on the new site it still remains a problem many months down the line.

As askari1 says, this is by design in order to support multiples bet placement; they have made the bet slip persistent.  There is a checkbox at the top of the slip called “This market only” in order to only display selections from the market that is being viewed. Select this and you will see only bets for the market you're looking at.

Can't see the box you describe TP - do you mean that this is on the old site?
Report Templeton Peck January 22, 2013 3:02 PM GMT
No, it's on the new site.

Ok, it's odd.  It's sometimes there and sometimes not.

A guaranteed way of finding it is to click on a market from the left hand column - say Match Odds in tonights Villa v Bradford match.  Then click on 'Singles' in the Betslip and the box should appear.  It really should show on every time you look at the betslip.  I'll let them know.

Thinking about it, it probably works as intended.  Either way, click on a market and then click on 'Singles'.

OK cheers TP that "this market" only button I hadn't noticed before.

In fact the whole look of the bet slip seems improved on this as I am sure previously there was a time when you couldn't see the other bets lurking in the background (and could accidentally place them) whereas now they always appear on the bet slip if you are not using "this market only".

I think they're constantly introducing little improvements that you might not notice if you haven't fully transferred over to the new site.

For most of us, we require at least the ordering of the bets to be in market order before spending any time on there.

Yes TP that is requirement number 1 for me.
