check it out yourself ... odds varied a couple of lays were 2.0 and under, did a back at 1.6 and other lays around 5 to 8's.

No nerve touched at all ... I simply think it quite amazing how you post that if it is real betting then you feel this way and oh if it pretend betting then you feel something different ....

I find that more intriguing as stalkers like you who post up complete garbage on the forum .... think that everyone lives in a 'pretend world' and that every betting post refers to a pretend bet .... sorry but many of us live in the real world

Challenge Summary:

Not the best day ... thought best to stop at the £5K mark and after the woeful attempts at the mini-challenges this morning simply played the horse racing using sensible stakes.

Learn't three things today ... one is don't get side-tracked by other peoples' comments, secondly that if it doesn't feel right then don't push or force it to happen and thirdly .... (especially with some horse lay selections) ... don't bet something if it "nearly" fits within the factors I look at ... needs to fit or not. This third factor is what did me in the most on this arvo's betting when I layed something which was a touch too short than I would have liked (for that style of race and runners) ... and paid the penalty.

Might have a bet on the football tonight but will take a break from BF for a few hours ...

It is also interesting how the mind-set works .... challenge been running for 17 days ... and currently with £2K profit ... with the bank grown by 67% from the SB.

Before starting and especially in the first few days ... was more than happy to increase the bank by 1 to 2% max (ie: £30 to £60) .... but as soon as I hit some very good days like £500 plus ones ... then the natural tendancy is to think that is the new level I should be obtaining each day ....

I have got to get the balance right in my mind that it is a 2yr challenge not a 2mths one .... it is a tricky thing to deal with.

Irish_Celtic - while this challenge is all about keeping control and not mucking around .... from a personal viewpoint I want the challenge to have a mixture of varied betting strategies from specific selections based on factors I look at, to watching the markets, to identifying momentum in the particular sport I am watching to down-right "intelligent" guesswork ....

Now that is not to everyone's preference and it also may have a bearing on achieving the target but that is simply how I like to play ....

I could easily select some horse lays put them in the BOT which has specific % to work with - turn it on and return later to see what has happened ..... while I do set up my Bot with selections I also want to feel a part of the betting and be involved as the day pans out ....

While the "pro" on BF may think this is stupid ... I am sure many on here understand what I am saying. It is getting the right balance which is the tricky thing ...

As to the mini-challenge - yep certainly wasteful - however I did a mini-challenge just the other day on the football thread turning £100 into £1000 in 25 consecutive bets .... while many on here observing can speak about the losses and poor betting choices I need to look at the positives and negatives in deciding whether something was worthwhile doing ....

As for the bigger bank - you are probably right as in many cases I get to certain bank levels and then slide back down again through moments of madness. I actually try and break the bank down into micro banks .... and that is why sometimes you see smallish bets in the p&l lists where I am for example obtained a new bank level (or dropped down to a certain level) and sometimes I simply play with the odd amounts ....

When it reaches the £10K level I plan on withdrawing amounts above that ...

I would love to see you achieve something like this.

But you aren't going to be flooded with support for "£100 all-in mini challenges"
It's bizarre that you expect them to work in truth.

Just do the same thing every day and stake accordingly from a growing bank.

Your staking is another thing I don't understand.
You will struggle if you are losing £100 and only "small odd amounts" when you win
Doesn't make sense if planning for long term

I don't block anyone ... Hejik ... LB has been around a very long time. Friendly, supportive and appreciates that (despite frustrating others on here with my style of betting) I like to do these challenges my way ...

As for the mini-challenges yesterday ... I would suggest that they were part wasteful and personally a touch embarrassing in how crap I was ....

Bank is currently £5589 ... currently going through the UK horse racing cards right this minute ... might being going out shopping later so that might help my cause

Hi all, just having a peek in.

You do realise you just did a chase bet of a lay of the fav for a £290 liability on one bet?

You can see the state of mind you were in; angry about the losses, then ecstatic about the big gamble win.

This is not a good place to be. Emotions and chemicals in the brain take over. You need to see losses as happening, not because of luck or tiny price differences, but because it's gambling. Likewise, wins don't always come because you 'knew' they would, but for a variety of reasons (inc. your "intelligent guessing").

When you take a win in the same manner as a loss, then you are running your challenge well.

Yes, I know, keep my nose out. I didn't mean to sound omniscient.

Presumably a lay winner.......just looks like the staking in proportion to bank is a bit high on this one? Emotion coming into bet after a couple UK losses on earlier races?

Profitable day but gutted by my back bet losing on Carter in the Snooker and my green up bet set at 1.03 not being matched either ... apparently the lowest price was 1.04.

Challenge Summary:

Work and sickness has played havoc with my betting and updating of the thread. Played small for a bit but then went in heavy in others - bit of a blur really - but the betting in the snooker I found extremely frustrating especially with Carter losing to Murphy likewise my lay of Everton (I was only with Mobile phone access) to see Tottenham go one up for me to re-check later to see Everton came back to win (my green up bet not being matched) ... but then swings and roundabouts ... as my heavy lump on a lay of West Ham (when goal up) helped deliver a nice return ... meanwhile especially yesterday my Horse lays (ÚK) were left with the BOT ... which turned over a profit so glad I wasn't around to stress it any further ....

Challenge Summary:

Nothing like losing on an Indian football match early morning without knowing what is going in the match ... need to trade out early on these types of bets ... but apart from that still able to make it a profitable day ... thankfully I was also able to pick the winner in last night's snooker final although in truth I did fall asleep towards the end . Probably Valium would help GK, otherwise I'm not sure.

I do know that history dictates that when there is a prolonged period without updates regarding these challenges, then there has been a big loss on one day or more, and time is spent getting the bank back to either a new high or the challenge is ended, before posting the new P/L. Hopefully this time is the exception to the rule.

Or it could be a big loss and work (yes I do - do some) has hindered my ability to update this thread ....

hi undern has your greyhound bot been doing okay?

I used to have a greyhound system which (I thought) worked very well but sadly the low market volume and odds range mean't I was being hit too hard to realistically make a profit (bit sad about it actually but there you go) ......

Just recently I started putting just a couple of selections in the bot - which are currently running at 100% (10/10) ... the system is basically layering one system over another ie: make selections based on one system and then go through those using another system .... won't ever make  a lot of money but hopefully can grab some nice daily profit.

The main problem is I get in the road ... and start betting on races which I shouldn't be doing .... especially when it is on Live Video ...

It was a nice lay of the low odds fav in the SA 11.25am race ... looked like there was money keen to lay it and was (fortunately) helped by it missing the start. Also the greyhound system selections in the UK .... were the two that made money while the other bets were me thinking I knew what I was doing ...

Challenge Summary:

Well that was the type of day I need to do without when trying to get to £100K let alone last till 2013. Up and down up and down up and down ... with some of the betting staking based around either a bit of over-staking to get back to a reasonable level and once there lower staking to move slightly forward (although a lay in the SA racing went the wrong way when I decided to take on the SA commentators selection ... stupid boy I am).

Still ... the day enabled me to get involved in a lot of greyhound racing ... as I am trying to "read" what is most likely to happen based on the form guides (and existing mkt odds) ....

As a contrast ... 7 selections were put into the BOT (3 horses and 4 greyhound or was it the other way round ) which made a profit of around £240.

I can be so very good sometimes but boy I can be woeful at other times ... and the reality is - is that is not going to give me any chance ....

Some ask me why I start another challenge (having stopped/closed many of the past ones early) ... simply answer being having hit a bank of over £5K ... and then come plummeting back down to the SB of £3K .... it is a bit (lets just say extremely) hard to refocus on the challenge without trying to get back to the previous mark too quickly ..... where as starting afresh almost releases that sensation .... some would understand while others wouldn't ....

I guess you are right Cork Langer in your earlier post - the thrill overshadows the actual aim ... however to be honest even I am starting to get sick of the roller coaster rides I keep going on.

Deep down inside I still think I can actually achieve the challenge .... some may laugh but hey here I am giving it a go ... just in the controlled manner I should be doing it in.

Been for a walk around the block .... I know everyone on here will hate me for it but have decided to finish this challenge off .... and start a new one. In my mind I need to start "fresh" and this is the only way I know how ...

.... well I started with £3K and finished with £3K so at least I didn't blow the bank ... just simply not complete the challenge.

make some solid rules and stick to them, even more so when you get your bank to 5K

only rule you need is DON'T CHASE
