Bayes what's your bank if u don't mind me asking? Must be close to 500k+??
|
|
By:
surely this isnt the same bayes that i used to grind away with on the £50 sit n gos around 5-7 yrs ago???
quite amazed at the stakes that you are playing with to be honest. im assuming you are in the 60% range pc ? surely you are trying to trade on **** to some degree at around 3%? |

kevtab. I would be willing to lose 250k on one event in exceptional circumstances. If you're asking how much before I stopped gambling, then probably around a million. But it would be in ever decreasing amounts. I've had a decent edge on here for a while and I would need some fairly convincing evidence by way of P&L to know that it had gone.
callataxi. Yeah, those were the days. In my early days Poker contributed a reasonable amount to my income. Now I play for fun, at stakes too big for my ability, and as a result I am a donator. I pay 40% PC. I don't bet elsewhere but I know I should. On here it's always a case of make hay, so no long term plans ever materialise. |

well done bayes....what is your edge...is it mathematical or more fast info/pic based ??
|
|
By:
im amazed you arent in the 60% range by now to be honest bayes. im on 40% and dont bet anywhere close to yr levels
and im sure havent won anything close to what you do. how have you got to the stage where you can lose the price of a small house in a day and yet still rate it possible to win on the week?? the figures seem mind blowing and cant imagine theres hardly any individual on here that is betting to those levels. |
|
By:
"I dont bet elsewhere"........................ "I had 10k on USA with the bookies". Make your mind up!
|

callataxi: the 40% is based on your lifetime commission to profit ratio. To be on 60% it would have to be less than 5%. My ratio is around 14% and rising (it's worth running breakeven strategies to get this figure higher.) I've got to this level because I've always had an edge. Once you have an edge it's purely about turnover and managing risk.
caldy: lol. Ok, I've had one bet with the bookies in the last 5 years. I rang around a couple of contacts as I wanted 50k to win 20 (the price on here was 1.41 and there was about 20k available). One of them was able to get me 10k on. I don't have any active bookie accounts. |

Bayes, you're an inspiration, genuinely, brilliant work. I've got to be honest though as I'd love to know, and I guess most on here would, whats your lifetime P and L chap?
|
|
By:
Also, was it your bot which went batshit crazy on the horse racing market a wee while ago, laying a horse for 10k+ at 28.00 when it was an odds on shot.

Remember folks, Bayes wants this thread to die out.

Good point FAFH. This will be my last post on this one.
RMB: Obviously I would rather not divulge my lifetime P&L. It's worth pointing out though that almost everything I do is as part of various syndicates, with my share ranging from less than 10% to 100%. No that wasn't any bot that layed the 28k. There was millions of liability up there and it was a Betfair software glitch. I have had a couple of bots go haywire. One backed a horse pre-off at 1.01 in the place market and averaged about 1.2 I think. Correct price was 7 ish and it came nowhere. Another one was supposed to have about 700 quid on the draw in the Tottenham Bolton FA Cup replay (the one that had to be replayed because of the Muwamba collapse). It went bonkers and had 25k on. If I recall the match was 0-0 with 15 minutes to go so I think my book was worth a fair bit but I wasn't aware of my position. Spurs went on to win 3-1. |

Ah, fair enough. Thought the lifetime P and L wouldn't be disclosed, was worth asking. Churning over serious money on the horses so fair play to you. Enjoy!

One last question Bayes, if you care to break your last promise and post just once more.
How are these syndicates structured ? Just handshakes or formal contracts ? Do they create income tax libilities in ( say) the UK. Or are they domiciled totally in tax havens ? |

![]() ![]() ![]() that is not one question. |
