after 3 years wasting time and money on online betting ive  finally had some luck , over 2 grand in last day doing exactly what ive been doing the rest of the time, goals ,corners , points in league and rugby , a few bets in baseball and the odd head to head in anything else, all on 365 at the moment, have a bet or two here too but it just mystifys me why the change in fortune.............i personally always thought by being clever and carefull could make a hundy a day making a weeks earnings just the same as going to a job, i hope this aint a flash in the pan .

simple fact is after 3 years its either give up or make profit, if one makes profit then there is a point.........why im on 365 is more options and a great mobile phone site which i can take anywhere, not detracting from betfair ,its good too but for now thats the way it is.

It's almost certainly a flash in the pan. Anybody having multiple bets on multiple sports is always going to hit a period where it all seems to go their way.

I have to confess that for a period of time i became addicted to gambling, after signing up for 365 3 years back........played all the games bet on the sport, spent all day and night online etc ,it seemed to look easy looking at the sports page to win, then i signed up for centrebet same old thing , then i came to betfair, i think blackjack bled my funds over time on all sites, hasnt broken me but still have not achieved anything.
It was only about 6 weeks back i added up my losses and decided its either quit or make profit by being smarter as in discipline, cutting out a lot of the 50 50 bets, i spose you do get smarter after a while and do things different and i do actually still play a few games on a casino site but  set strict limits , play the odd game that does have big prizes should you get lucky and i have had some good wins.

The biggest thing about these places and i spose you can say the internet in general is the time you spend, its about striking a balance between here and normal life, now i sorta have my thoughts where you can get the best results as in some of the betting options, such as alternative points in rugby and league and of course goals in soccer and also learning about some soccer leagues that produce goals and some that dont, it does take time, i always try to set myself a set amount i would like to win daily , weekly etc but it just wasnt as easy as i first thought but am hoping with a new approach i can get some good at of these places.

I  kinda think that if its taken 3 years of ill discipline then maybe by applying stronger discipline then maybe in 3 or 4 years might even be able to recoup my losses, you simply cant keep wasting time and money doing this all the time, its a case of just being smarter

i do think the internet can produce addictions to many things its just a case of strking a balance in life.........simple.

Why would you want to be "cutting out a lot of the 50 50 bets". If you can get better than 2.0, these are value. From reading your post, value is something you don't understand.

If you are serious about winning, forget the casino.

And having targets is a bad idea too.

i said i used to be hooked on casino , used to play them on sports site, i still play but only on one site and only for a few dollars now and then, in small doses can be fun..........as for the 50 50 bets some of the bets were say for instance on 365 in basketball , betting on points live , with the moving line , they are 50 50 bets ,kinda like a flip of the coin , one point over , one point under, at least on betfair they  set the total points before the game and you work to it, so i now bet on things i think are more likely seems to be working just now.

as i said before , its either come out in the plus zone or give up , simple fact, 3 years following football and other sports online on punting sites has taught me somethings, like for instance australian domestic soccer and iceland produce lots of goals ,some leagues are dead boring, one goal sometimes is beyond them , it takes time but as time goes by you do learn and will keep learning.

as for value you could say you can get good value betting on horses as in you get 10 to 1 shots etc but chances are you only get them now and then........betting on fixed odds sports options you get a higher strike rate thus probably accumulating over time.....if you get the real big wins say like jackpots etc chances are they just lucky , only happen once in a lifetime ,for most of us never, even ive got close to a million plus win , if i ever get that close again , who knows.

i feel like im talking to myself here lol but as for targets i reckon if you could say make say a hundred a day , which is pretty modest , over a week or month or year compares to what ppl go to work for , and i think you can do that by just applying simple logic.

Mikenz - I'd advise you log all your bets for one year. Seperate them in to Sports, Games, Horses, poker whatever and after that year you may come to a realisation.

But, just as a word of advice the way you talk about betting it is VERY clear that you a FAR, FAR away from being a consistent winner at the game. Not saying you can't get there but you have lots to learn and starting by writing down your bets and betting from a bank are just the first of many many steps needed.

Mikenz - As Racing Guru says, you have much to learn.

Targets: £100 a day is modest for some, ambitious for others, but to make any consistent profit, you need to be disciplined enough to bet only when it is value to do so. Some days there may be no value opportunities, other days several. The problem with a target such as £100 a day is that in an attempt to reach that target, some days you bet when you do not have value, and on other days, you quit too early.

Horse Racing: I'm sure there are value bets every day, but unless you are in the know, what leads you to believe that you can identify value where others can't? It's possible, but realistically, very unlikely. You are competing with some smart minds on here.

Casino: 'Only for a few dollars' / 'in small doses can be fun' - where is the fun in putting 100 units into a virtual slot machine and getting back 90? In a physical casino, a few hours playing craps is great fun, but sitting at home in your underpants while your parents watch TV downstairs doesn't seem quite so glamorous.

Football: If you've identified leagues that are 'boring', study the odds and whether there is value there. Chances are that the prices are correct, but study and research is the only way you will ever find an edge.

Keeping records is essential too, as advised above. You may well find that your simple logic is just that - simple. It's not that easy.

I will ignore the underpants comment lol and all other sarcastic ones as well lol.........ive never ever been in a casino and frankly have no desire too either, i just played a few here on betting sites , got hooked but finally gave them the flick even though i did get some lucky collects but gave them the flick because they interferred with sports betting, in time and money..been there done that.

I only play on one site and only now and then , i dont really consider them betting as in horses and sport, more like gaming, a complete diferernce, thus keeping them excluded from bet 365 and betfair .
Report mikenz • August 20, 2012 1:20 AM BST
When i say about some of the leagues being boring i do prefer to bet on goals happening rather than not just the way i am ...........as for the horses i used to follow them like a religion but simply it needs a lot of study and thought , more than i have Time to do these days

I often read the forums but rarely post much now, everyone has their ideas but i still stand firm on the notion that it takes time to work out whats hot and whats not.

Keep going for long enough and you will find the answer to your question is that there isn't!

I hope this is of assistance.
